Who else used to be impressed by the Russian military?

Russians are crazy smart and I have always been impressed with their creativity and how diabolical some of their weapons systems are. I used to think they actually had all that tech, but when you start to add it up, from Armatas that don’t start, their broken carrier and it’s 4 planes, and now the overall performance of their army all the arrows seem to point to the same thing. I think they might have been full of shit. Great psyop though.

I was a conference some months ago, a retired 3 star general was speaking and he said something that stuck with me. He predicted that the RA would fall back on its strength, artillery, but then he mentioned how formidable many Soviet generals were and how much they were respected, even in the west. He claimed no such counterpart exists today in the Russian army.

You can’t even shut down Ukrainian airspace. Your AA is formidable, but if you can shut down Ukrainian airspace, you don’t stand a chance against a real military. Facts.

With NATO, there's gonna be counter-AA first, spamming decoys and standoff weapons. Ukraine has given good practical data on real life capabilities of these platforms. They are capable in terms of range, suck for low flying aircraft, lack good target hand-off between individual units, can't ID for shit - but the last one we already knew.

After the coup in 2014 Ukraine is governed by Washington ultimately. For example, a law to prohibit russian was passed which makes absolutely no sence for Ukraine as 95% of Ukrainians speak russian.

NATO has consistently confirmed to train, supply, operate and supervise Ukrainian forces.

I never claimed Ukraine was a NATO member, just that NATO wages war by proxy.

They send the Ukrainians first and couple that with economical blockade in the hopes of weakening Russia for the upcoming first strike. So far it's not working.

Who do we have then moron? General white rage? Admiral levine? If russia was as bad as you claim our media & officials wouldn't have to outright lie and contradict themselves, and you wouldn't be here posting this week 2 tier cope. I mean wasn't russia supposed to have run out of precision munitions back in march or whatever? And everything else not long after? Crimea coming into play before june? Lol. And here we are depleting our reserves which cannot readily be replaced to arm the second largest army in europe, fighting a smaller russian force and still losing.

There is literally no way you can spin this as a positive for america anymore. These fancy western toys are getting destroyed, captured, and generally proving to not be the game-changers as advertised. Meanwhile russia is still cranking out war materials and not even breaking a sweat while doing it. We are utterly fricked if we have to get into a major shooting war, we're ruled by morons who sold our futures out for profit and temporary political victories.

Lavrov or whoever the frick that russian dude was who compared us to late stage ussr is right. We even have the incompetent, senile gerontocracy to go along with it. If you can actually still look at this rotting, grotesque, gay monstrosity of the country formerly known as america and think everything is alright then you're just way too far gone. Fricking sick.

That's the task of all militaries, including NATO. There were talks to give AMX30B to Ukraine as we were supposed to have 850 of them in storage. But since 1994, they have been stripped, sold or used for target practice so basically there is none to give.
Same goes for ammunition we were supposed to have, most of it have been lost to corruption.
The only difference is that corruption in NATO is less overt than in Russia/Ukraine/Kazakhstan, and more oriented into giving contracts to campaign donors, instead of selling stuff for cash and buying mansions in Sochi or Turkey.

Also, and that's true for all military operations, passed the first high-impact moments, every military start to frick up, that can be resumed in the words of Tyson "Everyone got a plan until they get punched in the mouth".

That said, if Ukraine had taken the initiative last summer (2021), and pushed to Donetsk instead of pussying out and staying on positions, we wouldn't be in this situation now, bc last year Russia was deadlocked with covid and Putin sick as shit, maybe they would have been subjected by a counter attack in the end, but maybe not.
That's the moral of the story to all generals, push your advantage till the end, bc your never know what happens next.

I'd say the Sukhoi Su-27 was the height of excellence in Russian military development. It's is a stunningly beautiful aircraft, and aircraft generally fly how the look. It can out maneuver the American F-15, which means it could have won in the 4th generation fight. The aircraft is crazy reliable, durable, and well respected by it's pilots and ground crews.
The Sukhoi Su-57 is pretty great, but it doesn't inspire the same sense of awe and power as the 27.

Russia is primarily a land power so they aren't as interesting in projection power via but they did it during the Cold War the most economical way that made sense (submarines). Same principle applies to their land army too. They have a mass conscription based doctrine and mass conscription based procurement system. Everything is designed to be maybe 90% as good as NATO shit but way cheaper so its spamable. In the end even if they have to kill 30 million of their own to win they still win. Germoids learned this the hard way.

People were fooled by astroturf and hype - all war is based on deception.

Russia and China are weak so they act strong constantly and stupid/young people hang on their every word - every single day every single website there's another shill thread about Chinese super technology, every thread I see I remind people China is winning just fine in peacetime and every single time it just passes straight through NPCs' heads because they have no programming to respond to that. None whatsoever, never had never will.

USA can afford to be stupid. Therefore: do not follow in USA's footsteps if you are a metric country. The year so far is watching Putin make that mistake.

I think it's also zoomers learning that war against people with supply lines to defend is a lot different than herding goatfrickers in the desert, and that NATO tech is seeing its first use-as-intended since 1991. Trump should have quadrupled production of Javelins and Stingers given how wildly cost effective they are. Brandon's admin won't out of idiocy or malice.

The other thing you have is a dictatorial regime with zero regard for it's people and with no internal dissent. I see lots of jibes towards the US that it hasn't won a war since 1066 or whatever, but in reality the US hasn't lost the fighting part of any wars. It either loses the peace, or collapsing public support makes it impossible for leaders to continue fighting. Despite the memes, the US was kicking seven shades of shit out of the Vietcong and North Vietnamese, it defeated the Iraqi army in a few days with barely any losses, and btfod the Taliban without breaking into a sweat.
It would simply be impossible for a US president to fight the kind of ground and pound war Putin did in Chechnya 2 because of the political pushback.

They had pretty good advertiziment run but at the end of the day it was just marketing campaign not grounded on reality. It's still an Soviet army with Soviet tech. >While all those weapons sound intimidating, remember this is the Russian Navy we’re talking about. Russian ships are famous for breaking down, exploding, or disappearing entirely. So why should Russian superweapons be any different? The answer is that they’re not, and its supercavitating torpedoes might be the most useless of them all.

            This shit doesn't work.
There are counter measures to deploy.
            Depth charges, Anti-torpedo bombs.
            >A superfast torpedo with a range of almost ten miles would be considered a wonder weapon in the days of World War II, where a torpedo had a range of about three miles, four miles at best. But standard torpedoes have come a long way since.
            >Then, there are the options available to naval commanders of surface ships. While shipborne missiles might not be able to rock a submarine while it’s below the surface, torpedoes aren’t just for subs, whether they’re firing them or being hit by them. Anti-ship missiles are a deadly weapon in naval combat and most modern naval ships carry some kind of missile.
            >The Mark-13 Guided Missile system fires projectiles at more than three times the speed of sound, can hit targets almost 100 miles away (and sometimes further) and are deadly and proven in modern warfare. Why mess around with torpedoes when missiles will do just fine?

Hence, the VA-111 Shkval only has a range of about 4.5 miles (7km), whereas its successor, the Shkval 2 has a maximum range of around 9.5 miles (15km).

The funny thing is that they don't even need carriers as per their military doctrine.
The US needs them because they have bases all over the place, so the world police needs to be able to project force anywhere at any time.
But Russia doesn't have any distant overseas bases, allies, protectorates or possessions that would ever need protection by a Carrier Strike Group.
It's basically a huge money sink that they keep afloat so that they can say:

There are pretty much 3.5 milatary hardware super powers that make the most navy craft, ballistic missiles, jets, tanks, guns. After WW2 it was the U.S and U.S.S.R., Europe was pretty significant during the period and I would classify them as a 0.5 at the time.

After the soviet union fell, Russia had major issues with money and lost the Baltic countries and Ukraine that were vital to keeping their navy maintained. The somewhat got compensated because they leased the navy base in Crimea and had Kaliningrad. The European countries I would upgrade to being a military tech super power after the USSR fell, but they didn't build much of what they developed. East Europe couldn't afford it and west Europe didn't bother. China I would put at 0.5 in the last 10 years but most their shit is ripoff of tech they stole.

Russia's New stuff does seem to be a bit hyped, some stuff had development flaws that people hid or covered up their defects.

But there other explanations also. Their best tank the T-14 Armata, has not been used in the Ukraine, they only have a few of them, I forgot the number, like 8 to 20. It has a lot of advanced tech, and I see a lot of people suggesting it was all lies, but for the T-14, I think most the tech is real but they can't reproduce it in a cost effective way. Same issue with Russian space rockets, they have the most advanced but can't replicate them. I watched a Space-X documentary recently, they have been trying to do the opposite of what Russia did with rocket development. They are focused on making simple but very inexpensive rockets that are easy to make.

In terms of More advanced but less replicatable vs simple and cheap to produce, it is the opposite. It's some what comparable to the Tiger 2 vs the T 34 tank. German tanks for the most part were better in armor, fire power and engines, but they hand made a lot of the parts and would brake easy because no qualitycontrol of parts. The T-34 was cheap and was mass produced. The only good feature of the T-34 vs German tanks was its Turret design made it harder to penetrate.

It's like coding the animation of a 2D videogame character's jump. You *can* use calculus, but there's not much point. My guess is that the guidance system takes input from three radar stations, and no prediction is involved. After a one size fits all trajectories take off sequence the code adjusts the thrust based on whether the missile is going to overshoot. There's no turning or yawning either. The rocket was pointed at the target before launch.

They are able to face Russia head on, and contain them.
TheBayraktar TB2 is a HUGE gapmechanger, as much of an asset as are the anti-tank missiles they use to defendagainst russian tank columns.

Go read about or watch something on the TB2, it's a under-rated super eficient weapon for spying and striking the russian army.

These drones are the reason why so pmany Russian Generals and Officers have been eliminated during this war.

That technology of Supercavitating torpedos has been around since the 70s.
50 years later it's still not being widely used.

These torpedos musn't be that good if no one really uses them, despite their existence for the last 50 years.

I'm not miltary expert, but if there's ONE recurring theme about Russian Military Tech, is that it is often over-hyped, and suffers the same problem that Hitler / Nazi Germany had, of developping Super Wpeaons that could "change the war".

Russian tech is 20 years behind but they do not care about their personnel and that's a strength in a way. They just throw more men and materiel at it until something gives. What good are western javelins if the Russians just have more tanks anyways? Much of the casualties in Donbass are militia raised from the "people's republics" used as cannon fodder. Remember what we see now is Russia without mobilization. And Putin is not done yet, by a long shot. They will win in the end, if the West grows weary as we usually do.

I still think that their army is a formidable, the thing is that their current one that is in ukraine is a mix between Serbian/Chechen and some new Conscripts that are fairly fresh. While the more adapt soldiers that are fighting inside the borders are experiencing difficulties because there is no experienced backup, well, backing them up while they get encircled so they have to flee.
I'd imagine things would be hell of a lot different if they fully mobilized or Russia itself would get attacked.
