Not that anon, but he's right. It's the best combination of power and capacity. You'll basically frick up anything that isn't an MBT and even then if you can engage one first you'll be able to knock out all their visuals if you're lucky.
25mm for laying down a base of fire and taking out lightly armored vehicles. 35mm and above for the use of airbursting smart munitions. 30mm is the .40 of autocannons
Well, the US Army is picking 50mm (35mm necked up to support a larger projectile, I assume for HE filler) for the OMFV. This should be big enough for stuff like proxy rounds, delayed detonation, airburst, etc.
Penetration should also be pretty high - the French claim their ETC 40mm cannon has 175mm penetration. Assuming the use of a high pressure gun + DU penetrator I don't see why that same performance couldn't be achieved
25-30 is plenty good enough to take out IFVs, they’ve been doing it for decades >but anon, Wikipedia says modern IFVs are rated to 30mm frontally!
don’t care, 25mm APFSDS is still penning it
30mil best mil

30mm.
25mm for brrrrt.
88 L71 for Vatnik removal
Anthony G Williams
realistically probably 20-30mm
but 50mm, because it makes my pp hard
The difference in effectiveness between 20mm and 30mm cannon rounds isn’t far
Off the difference between 30 and 50.

30mm airburst is a thing already
you have to way explosive filler against capacity
155mm Excalibur / hesh / sabot, for arty / tanks
76mm Excalibur / DART, for ifv
25mm , for APC and frontline infantry 300blk for small arms

57mm
75mm and not an inch less
>here's your IFV, and SHORAD, and artillery
maybe we can develop 75mm GLATGMs for it too
120mm gun-mortar
25mm
40mm low pressure. If you're engaging more than (potentially fortified) infantry with an IFV use a guided missile the IFV can carry it.
40mm is pretty huge. Are you sure the capacity is adequate for an IFV that is laying down a base of fire for maneuvering infantry?
>20mm
Machine gun plus
Used the same way a .50 is, just with a bit more range and effect on target
>25-30mm
Taking out light vehicles and with HE capacity for heavy cover
>30-50mm
Taking out enemy IFVs, especially the heavier ones
And for anti-fort use
25-30 is plenty good enough to take out IFVs, they’ve been doing it for decades

25 has the best balance of filler and capacity.
I'm thinking 30-06 millimeters
