Which electric power washer should I get?

Which electric power washer should I get?

I've never had one before but I need something easy and relatively idiot-proof to clean my deck and vinyl siding. Maybe car washes too. Doesn't have to last forever or be top of the line I'd like to keep it under $200.

I've heard good things about Karcher and Ryobi.

I got the sunjoe mid range version. It cleans decks very well. It can do concrete but it's slow. Great for cleaning gutters

Gas is def better if you’re doing big driveways and trying to really strip shit, but the 2000psi guys are fine for decks and siding and car wash as long as it’s residential a couple times a year.

I have a Ryobi. Can’t complain considering it’s like $100 when they go in sale. Wanted a gas one but as stated before, not really worth 5x the cost for me to use it on the driveway once a year. When the Ryobi dies, I might think about it.

I guess I would say look into the pump protector lube too. They can get pretty grimey with hard water sitting in there. Also I recommend having a little bit of silicone grease nearby to keep the O-rings on all the hoses and the gun going in smooth. And if you get a surface cleaner like in your pic, you want one for an electric model, otherwise some big 18” will probably barely spin.

Karcher is overpriced, in bongland we have Screwfix that sell Titan branded ones for about half the price of an equivalent Karcher.

Petrol ones rinse them all though, just be careful since it will strip paint off a car if you use too narrow a nozzle

I'm in IE, I use a karcher k2 for car washing and cleaning the driveway/side passage/fence and such. It's doing well for light duty stuff. I it's either the K3 or K4 that have water cooled pumps, if you're looking for something with a higher duty cycle.

    Thanks everyone.
Ended up ordering this combo with a surface cleaner. Hopefully compact enough to store in my cluttered garage.

I have a similar setup. It works. The surface cleaner kinda pisses me off, fantastic plastic parts leak at the joint so I have to hold it at a certain angle to get full pressue. Maybe I got a shitty unit but I’ll probably look for an upgrade next time I get frustrated doing the whole driveway with it.

I’m a big fan of the foam blasters. Works much better for cleaning the car than using the detergent in the tank on the pressure washer. Plus when you want to rinse after using the soapy reservour, you still get some bubbles for awhile.

kärcher has gone downhill pretty fast.
just compare the weight of a 1990 model and a new model, the new one is light as frick because even the pump is made from plastic now.
also when a company starts to make a second color gray for professional equipment you know the yellow consumer kärchers are shit now.

Kränzle however still makes power washers with machined brass pumps and steel pistons.

Gas or don't bother. Those electric jobs are useless.

      This

They're not useless, they're just less useful.

It really depends what you’re trying to do. Electric takes a lot longer to do surface cleaning on big areas. But of the times I use mine for cleaning shit around the house, maybe 1 out of 5 times I wish I had the gas model, which costs 5x as much.

If you need to blast concrete that hasn’t been cleaned in decades, the 4000psi+ gas models are beasts.

if you have 3 phase power

there are electric pressure washers with just as much power but it depends on the electrical hookup.

        a 230V 16A socket can provide 3600W a Honda GCV has 3900W,
for commercial you can get 64A 400V = 33hP electric pressure washers.
