Turns out, the fields are full of mud and mines, and the roads are full of traffic.

Pucciya has no leadership capable of executing anything larger than small unit actions.
Coordinating hundreds of machine and thousands of men is beyond the skills of the present day Pucciyan peacetime leaders who can only operate the armed forces at a very basic, stick and rudder level of proficiency.

This. All the people who were able to do this in the 60s-70s are dead.

Anon, Russia committed 10 division-equivalents to the Ukraine battle across nearly a thousand km of front. The Cold War gone hot scenario would have seen more than 100 Warsaw Pact divisions across the equivalent frontage.

That footage would have been 20-50 tanks in 1985.

Anyway, if you want to satisfy your lust for massed (dead) tanks have a look at the failed Russian river crossings. Others can post up the ones with the thirty or so wrecks in one pic

Are those events being handed out by the HIMARS? or is that regular shellings?

        regular shelling

I think they've lost more vehicles now attacking Vuhledar against FASCAM minefields than during the pontooning.

they lost enough that they were complaining about Ukie "warcrimes" ie using mines

          >they lost enough that they were complaining about Ukie "warcrimes" ie using mines

The funniest thing about Russia losing to a minefield is that they have FASCAM style mines which they use sporadically, so none of this should have been such a disastrous setback.
But there is no feedback mechanism in the Vatnik armed forces. You simply die and then no one learns any lessons, rinse and repeat.

Russia lost around 90 Vehicles due to that pontoon incident so its hard to top

The Vulhedar offensive was over a longer period of time than the Pontooooooooning, but they've lost around 130.

      87. 87 wrecks in one pic. And that was just from the first bridge attempt, there were 5 others in that area that we don't have pictures of. There was drone video from bridge #3, somebody may come along and post that.

IIRC, the general who coordinated these pontoon crossings got promoted after this, which enraged Strelkov.

For one, land mines and ATGMs. For two, they are literally running out of tanks. For three, their leadership is deeply, deeply incompetent, to a level that is genuinely hard for a Western mind to comprehend. I’m talking full-on Africa tier.

      >I’m talking full-on Africa tier
It's worse. The Africans are all at least fighting passionately and giving it the old college try. Russians are backstabbing eachother to get a yacht.

lets assume 150 t72s are expected to dive in with at best air support and light artillery, no infantry until the breakthrough happens
how many logistics trucks would you need to haul all of the ammunition needed by the tanks before the engagement? how much fuel does each tank need since we're obviously going to top them off before battle

You can't mass on the modern battlefield, you'll give away your intentions instantly and the enemy will know exactly where to concentrate his firepower, you cannot shrug off modern artillery, the modern indirect fire capabilities far surpasses what we had in the past, whatever we see, we can hit, accurately, multiple times, until it's gone.

Great idea. That way, we can start referring to people manning HITL weapon systems as hitlers.

Anon, this isnt the 1980's, Russia isn't the Soviet Union anymore, and Ukraine isn't the Fulda gap. Russia had its chance to prove itself and they just keep one-upping themselves in who can be more incompetent. They can't even defend themselves against border attacks, its stupid funny.

You need to have good Logistics to pull this off for more then 10 miles past your boarder.

You are seeing the Full Russian might.
    This is it.
This is all they can do.
They have shown they are a paper tiger that can only do WW1 tactics.
