Where is Russia's special forces?

Where is Russia's special forces? Did they really die in the first weeks of the war because I've noticed there's next to no attempts or even indications of special operations happening in months in Ukraine

Russian Special Forces are too busy with uprisings to go into this meme war. The fact that conscripts wiped out 90% of ukraines SOF is appalling. Shows you that war isn't all about skill but RNG.
Oh also when Russia bombed that one foreign legion compound with FOG members.

Yes, a lot of SOF guys were completely tossed into heavy infantry roles which were massacred. Lots of remaining men from those units have been redistributed to many standard infantry units all over the place. There are likely very few remaining RU SOF units that aren't shit like Zaslon which have any sort of operational capabilities. There's a lot of pictures of RU SOF dudes mingled in with mobilized conscripts or rank and file contract soldiers now.

Real life isn't a movie, what exactly are spec ops supposed to be doing? They can't do raids, they'll just get their shit pushed in. The closest thing to a useful spec ops in the situation they're in would be a Green Beret equivalent, but Russia can barely train its own forces in the first place.

They'd be able to effectively do long range recon/sabotage against strategic targets like HIMARs, ADA, airfields etc... The fact of the matter is SF provides value in every scenario.

A russian special forces would never do that. A team would setup a cache for another team to use. The notion that we're not seeing anything I'm saying any form of SOF components is weird

or theyd just use missiles in a way easier infinitely less complicated manner
            >were not seeing any form of SOF
theyre infantrymen now, theres been some videos of them conducting some ambushes, youve been conditioned to think of them during the war on terror time period the clandestine shit is over

So are SCUDs yet American and British SOF actively hunted those with boots on the ground. Russian special operations lack the capacity to do what special operations tend to have done since the 80's and onward.

and it didnt work, we looked and found like a fraction of them you can read about delta looking and saying they only found like 10% of them

You want them to go trekking 10 miles behind enemy lines in a modern war? Get real. Even if they somehow succeeded the action will be suicidal. That particular Russian spec-ops doctrine was intended for mass infiltration in the middle of an operational assault.

They lost most of their real heavy guys in Kyiv in the early days. Alfa Group is pretty much gone from what I can tell.

Alfa got annihilated so hard Russia couldn’t even lie about it. The obits and funeral services came in too fast for them to bullshit and counternarrative, same with the VDV

They literally got fricking killed on the northern front anon. Wiped out. It was unironically at the point where they had like a company worth left, and then multiple squads got picked off in various areas around the southern front (most notably the Azov bait building rigged with explosives that wiped two full squads, and the snake island video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaqGwFzfDOs

I'd presume they tried to elevate some VDV remnants to special forces, or maybe pressure retired guys back in, but we haven't seen anything for months now so maybe not

That's what I was thinking, the tryhard gays claiming that SF would be dormant in a gigantic war are delusional, we saw them routinely trying to assassinate and sabotage in the first week of the war throughout the country. Even now we'd at the very least see something

they mostly got ass blasted early in the war. Lots of pics like the one i'm posting during the first weeks of the war.

They basically sent their SOF to do some hero shit expecting to get back up from VDV within hours of their initial incursion but they didn't expect the Ukies to fight back.

From reading a book about the Soviet Afghan war, they used a lot of special forces for jobs that would be for regular forces on the field because they are the only ones with even a modicum of morale and skill, not sure if it's still true.

Turns out being able to do backflips while throwing flaming tomahawks at stationary targets doesnt transfer well in real fights.

what exactly is the aim of this training exercise?

It all comes down to marketing: flashy bullshit that looks cool on camera so long as you don't think too hard about the practical value of it, making it perfect for inspiring dumb kids to sign away their youth.
Same for Pugachev's cobra maneuver, for that matter.

looks tough and masculine. supposed to be intimidating like bar bouncers.
turns out the time spent getting swole and practicing back flips wasn't very effective against soldiers that spent it doing battle drills.

Yeah ok but have you seen them jump on a trampoline, do a back flip and mid-flip, and throw a tomahawk at a target?
Seems pretty spec ops tier to me, and they always march in parades. When was the last time you saw Navy Seals in a parade? zero times
There was also this one time when a Russian Spetsnaz jumped feet first into the front window of a stationary car to get a terrorist.

There are none anymore. Russia zerg-rushed and lost them all. Spetznaz, VDV, all dead. Russia is missing so many specialist troops they've been throwing recon troops with the regular infantry, getting them killed, and then lacks the ISR to accurately aim their arty. It's a total shitshow.

You need to have good situational awareness to be in special forces and people with decent situational awareness got the frick out of Russia.

They are "special" only in the "rides the short bus" sense of the word.

Why is there so many morons like this on /k/ these days. I think the russians for the most part suck, but if you watch the early war footage of the VDV for example they were well trained soldiers, they just had a fricking moronic plan. Really that was the problem is they had elite units that's centre of gravity hinged on conscripts trying to conduct offensive actions against professionals. For all intents and purposes the VDV actually held hostomel far longer than expected for someone that we now know were completely surrounded without supplies

On permanent deployment 6 feet underground.

This might be the case, has anyone compiled all of the reports of those sabotage attacks in Kyiv. We can create a rough bda based on how many attacks there were
