Black person the APG77v1 can tell the difference between a T-72 and a BMP and target both from 72 km at 50’000 ft [1]. I don’t think radarless mid-80’s airframes flying slower than a MiG-15 should be too difficult to destroy for the most capable fighter ever made.

Then you are sacrificing one plane to get a drone to pass trough. I don't think that is a good trade.

Only if the Russians can catch it first, lol. Just fly in their direction for a bit, then fly off. Stay outside of effective weapons range.

Let the drone approach from another angle entirely while everyone is looking at the plane.

Seriously, Vatniks shot down their OWN plane. They won't fire right away, they gotta confirm it is not one of their own planes first.

The approaching Ukrainian plane should hail the Russians and announce it's a friendly returning to base. Confuse them for at least a minute.

The point is, all eyes will be on the approaching plane that is just outside of weapons range. Not on the drone flying so low to the ground, the Russians struggle to detect it.

Have the drone fly as low to the ground as possible. And paint Russian markings on it.

Russians are primitive barbarians who think in pre-drone terms. They'll assume the plane is the threat, and point all their radars at it. They'll be scared of another Engels.

Nobody's going to be looking for an extremely low-flying drone approaching from a completely different angle.

Drone fires its own weapons, and shocks the Russians before they have time to react.

you seem to be a very misinformed gripen gay in that case. Saab/FMV hasn't been stockpiling J39s hoping to sell them, they've all been either sold or leased.

All Gripen A/Bs that were built has either been converted to C/D or disassembled. Maybe there's 20 or so that are mothballed - but those are sure as shit not integrated into any unit. The remaining C/Ds that've been built has served in their respective airforce for years.

What people don't understand is that BTFOing Russia right now is going to be the biggest security guarantee that any nation can take without going to war. If Russia loses it will be a 90% conscript army operating >80s technology, completely ostracised from international affairs and being reduced to a useful idiot for the Chinese. What's more, with Russia's horrible demographics, natural gas fuelled economy and chronic brain drain there will be no way to fix its problems for the foreseeable future.

This war wasn't existential in the beginning but unironically is existential now because if Russia loses Crimea and the Donbas, it will NEVER recover, guaranteeing Europe's security for decades. Thats why every European power that values its security should be sending Estonia levels of support to Ukraine to ensure they earn an unconditional victory, and as much Russian equipment and professional NCOs + Officers are lost irrevocably

One solution could be have the czech gripens together with some of our own gripens and let NATO to Czech Air Patroling until the czechs can get F-35s.

Didn't the Brazilians want to leverage their bulk Gripen acquisition and purchase of next gen Saab tech transfer to Embraer to try to jump start the FS2020 with manufacturing centered in Brazil? Why didn't Sweden just sell off some Gripens to Ukraine and then get daddy US to basically bankroll this new fighter endeavor at zero cost to them? Sweden and Brazil are both US allies but fill a weird niche that the US really doesn't in the arms market. It seems like the perfect all sides benefit international MIC transaction. So good that it's almost suspicious that it wasn't done. Does that mean it has been done?

Doesn't really make sense until Ukraine has better ABM defense.
The current Ukrainian air force survives mostly because they aren't a highest priority target.
While it might make sense to start training pilots and maintainers on systems now (particularly because the Ukrainian AF doesn't have that much to do at 20 sorties per day), IMO supplying Ukraine with Patriot in good numbers to replace S-300 and finding more AD solutions for Ukraine makes more sense.
Also for deeper strikes into Russian controlled territory you could get ATACMs firing in about a week from now if the US was willing.
