When the dust has settled and this war is over, what will be the most important take-aways from it?

When the dust has settled and this war is over, what will be the most important take-aways from it? What significant changes will it bring in how we see war and what systems to use?
Obviously the focus on counter-insurgency is out the window and mechanized warfare is back in fashion, but what else?

Some kind of shark probably as long as you can use a knife. Sharks aren't tough enough to take a stab to the face with something as sharp as a knife. They put bear claws to shame.

Wels Catfish usually dont get that big, but they have found one with human remains in it, probably from scavenging. Thing is, they just dont attack humans because we arent really prey.
However, in areas where they arent really native (Italy), theyve learned some very unusual hunting behaviour, like breaching like orcas to hunt for pigeons.

The largest accepted record is of a female taken in 1827 in the Volga estuary at 1,571 kg (3,463 lb) and 7.2 m (23 ft 7 in).[10] Another specimen reportedly weighed 1,220 kg (2,690 lb) and measured 6.1 m (20 ft 0 in) in length. Claims about greater length (10 m (32 ft 10 in), or even 12 m (39 ft 4 in)); and weight (2,000 kg (4,400 lb), 2,500 kg (5,500 lb), or even 3,000 kg (6,600 lb)) are disputed and unconfirmed; but they are not impossible.

The biggest take away is mobilization capacity, straight up. The ability to get a large number of men trained, equipped and into the fight as quickly and efficiently as possible. The biggest personal take away is that men should learn how to shoot and own whatever kit that they can afford, especially if they live in Europe, before a major conflict even begins. Territorial Defense Force units were manning checkpoints in the first few hours with the equipment and guns they could bring from home and were reinforced from their local armories.

    >1.) Nations have to be able to get large numbers of men into the fight quickly.
    >2.) Individuals should arm and equip themselves to get into the fight quickly.
    >3.) It may be incumbent upon the individual to take preparatory action if the threat of invasion in the absence of preparation by their national government... I.E. Adopt a Modern Minuteman philosophy.

As for the Modern Minuteman philosophy, the Lithuanian Rifleman's Union exists and should be adopted in all NATO countries to take advantage of the poor of gun owners that exist, and create a mechanism by which they could take their unorganized militia and put them towards supporting organized militias and the standing army. War has become dirty, dangerous and decentralized. The future will demand that everyone fight and no one quit. Governments must enfranchise the men of their nations to do whatever they can towards defense and recognize that some people cannot commit to joining the organized militia or the standing army and support them.

Tl;Dr buy guns and kit, get your government representatives on board with personal gun ownership and expand opportunities for tactical training through Home Guard or Rifleman's Unions.

Dont underestimate the power of bloated procurement bureaucracy. Also it'd be somewhat embarrassing to admit that a civvy 500 dollar quadcopter could actually outperform a high tech military platform, even though civilian tech has come a long way in 20 years.

For most military applications, more speed = better, so I imagine the thought process went fast = good.
But as it turns out, drones, both for observation and firesupport, are more like snipers. Small, stable platforms rule. And those happen to be piss-cheap, too.

The 60k price point is a retarded misquote based on not understanding what the unit being sold is. It's not 1 switchblade, it's like a pack of 12 + the control system. It brings the cost down from hilarious to merely expensive, which makes sense when you think about the sensors in it being far above commercial units, something Ukrainians have praised to the point they bemoan them being suicide units instead of intended for heavy recon and reuse while the US can afford to throw that money away.

Some animals just keep getting bigger, they don't have a size shut off, because in the sea the larger you are the safer you are. Water based animals in particular are far more capable of insane weight growth due to innate buoyancy.
As long as there is enough food to sustain it it will keep growing until the circulation system physically can't keep up or they starve due to lack of food needed to maintain the body mass.
There were some land dinosaurs with almost no limit also, but they are a rarity and they usually died from joint failure ans thus starvation.

By now anyone that was a civilian and wanted to/was capable of fighting is operating in the capacity of a militia if not actually part of the armed forces of Ukraine. Yes, their civilians were issued rifles and they were shooting at russian military. One of the more important moments of the opening of the war was when a local militia took over their local base and kitted themselves out with everything in it to start fighting after the base was abandoned. Anyone who think this war can just fizzle out suffers from a cognitive bias about Eastern Europe being unimportant which means that the stakes in an Eastern European war can only be so high, even for the parties involved.
That's a grave mistake, there are too many aspects of security, economic and political architecture of the whole region hanging in the balance for any sort of peace to be remotely sustainable without the above falling firmly into one place or another.

I'd love to be able to explain what it is exactly that I expect to happen, but with nukes standing in the way of most solutions that were historically needed to resolve such a situation, I honestly don't know.
