my understanding is the Russians have not been able to reestablish a line and the southeastern front (i.e. post-2014 occupation, northern coast of Azov Sea) is in danger of also collapsing/getting routed from the north. while pressure slowly but surely continues in Kherson
so basically no new "happenings" because the last ones are still very much ongoing

also that's the Chernobyl sarcophagus, how old is that photo?

      December-ish is my guess.

The yukes have been attacking everywhere after Izyum, but haven't made much in the way of headway anywhere, certainly nothing like Izyum.
The Yukes seems to have faceplanted straight into a wall at Liman for example.

Well yeah, battles usually don't last a couple of days like it happened in Kharkiv.

Nah, Lyman was overrun too, there should still be fighting but even Intel Slava was declaring it basically lost. I guess the Ukies got the hard stop from Nato and their generals to avoid overextension. They are in No rush, the lend lease starts in 1 month and tons of soldiers are currently being trained.

The only thing I can see that Intelslava declared was that Yukes got smashed by artillery south of Liman.

I fricking love Rybar. The entire post is basically "Ru artillery SMASHED the piggies, ten thousand hohols dead, ukroreich is a frick."

yeah, it's funny how "territory of combat actions" always extents on Ukrainian side. With this map I have to question, if none controls "Bezimene, Stepove, Chkalovo, Vycheneve" then what the frick happens there? Neutral enemies?

The one redeeming thing he's done and why I have even the tiniest bit of respect for him, is that he admitted that the ten trillion dead HATO seal generals on snake island was bullshit - he actually retracted his posts and apolgized.

Ukraine breaks into Luhansk and the Donbas. Then it's only a matter of time until Kherson breaks and makes Melitopol, Mariupol, and Crimea vulnerable.

  8. 2 years ago

Allegedly the Ukrainians have been building up their forces near Zaporizhzhia, if true I'd assume the goal would be to make a run towards Melitopol/Mariupol to cut off the land bridge and bring the Kerch bridge within HIMARS range

      Anonymous

      >run towards Melitopol/Mariupol
While I’d like to see it happen, isn’t it exactly the same scenario they considered before Kharkiv offensive, and decided against because of huge projected casualties and low chance of success?

      Anonymous

I think they are trying to reach Energodar this way, maybe frontline will stall along Dnipro river again, maybe UA keeps moving to surround Kherson (this will be 5/7 happening).
But yes, reports of third counteroofensive vector are there. I also heard it was supposed to be a reserve, but northern push is doing so well ukies decided to attack from another point instead.

  9. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

well, if they are actually serious about the push in the Kherson front it isn't hard to imagine they'd try to reach Nova Khakovka to completely cut off the Ruskies in Kherson city, and if such a push went well, then they might try secure the outskirts to the south of the city

Probing attacks everywhere then sending heavy reinforcements to successful advances is how you have that work regardless of where the enemy defend. At least, it does if you're capable of the organization/logistics to switch feints into real attacks and vice versa without abandoning all your tanks.

This isn't vatnik shilling or copium, but I seriously doubt that Ukraine will be able to replicate the feat anytime soon. Any further offensive operations are going to look like Kherson: extremely slow.

Nah, he seems to be content to leave the soldiering to the actual military while he just does the media circuits to drum up more support and gibs, and Ukraine understands that the longer things go on, the better they got for them compared to Russia. Hell, Lend/Lease is coming in a little over 3 weeks and then America gets to really give them some fun toys.

“There are reports – unconfirmed, but there are many – that local ceasefires or local surrenders are being negotiated, particularly in the north of the Kherson sector,” Professor Clarke said. “Looks like the Russians are out of food and everything. Once they run out of ammunition, they have no choice but to surrender or flee.

    >Winter when the gas and food runs dry 😉
The EU cam feed Ukraine 100 times over. When it come to the whole freezing and hungry winter it really shows you what Russians are themselves worried about. Russian doomposting about the west usually reflects their own angst about winter economic collapse, currency collapse and starvation. Not suprising Russians starved in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and they had civil wars and coups and purges in 1905, 1917, 1918, 1919,1920,the 1930s, the 1940s the 1950s the 1990s etc etc and I have probably missed a lot then of course wars Russia has disastrous wars all the time. It will apparently be a hungry and cold winter in Russia. As usual then.

Ukrainians 'advancing about 20km a day'
The Ukrainians are advancing by about 20km a day by using standard military principles, defence analyst Michael Clarke has told Sky News.

The former director-general of the Royal United Services Institute said that after the Russians invaded, they were "lucky to be moving at 1km a day in the last five months".

"They're following the standard military principle of two up, one behind.

"Which is two units up on the front and one unit behind them.

"The Ukrainians have undoubtedly got another division they could put into this battle that they’re holding back.

"One division in Kherson, one in Kharkiv, and another division waiting.

"The point is the Ukrainians have the choice of what to do next.

"The Russians don’t have a lot of choices at the moment because they're fully stretched and it will take time for them to get reinforcements."

He said in Kherson there are unconfirmed reports of local ceasefires, or local surrenders, being arranged, particularly in the north, because the Russians are out of ammunition and other essential supplies.

It follows a series of attacks on bridges that Russian logistics have to cross to maintain supplies.

Prof Clarke said: "The Russians are clearly under pressure and they may or may not crack, in the same way that they’ve cracked in the Donbas.

"But the troops that the Russians have got in Kherson are better quality troops in general. So, if they do crack in that area, that would be very significant.

"Strategically, Kherson is the more important place. Kherson is the only major city the Russians have occupied. It controls access to Crimea, and it controls some of the hydroelectric power that goes into Crimea.

"If the Ukrainians are able to grab the whole of the coast of Kherson region back, then the whole of Crimea is within range of their artillery and missiles. They could make Crimea impossible for the Russians to operate from militarily if they chose to."
