Whelp, I framed a door like so, and now the bottom is 1 inch narrower than the top.

Whelp, I framed a door like so, and now the bottom is 1 inch narrower than the top. Is this catastrophic or can I still squeeze a door in?

If you find a framing error, and can fix it, then do so.
Altering later stuff to fit is just compounding the error.

You don't need to fix anything. Just trim the door to match. You sound a little bit moronic though so be careful to trim the correct part of the door.

Absolutely fricking moronic, this will be a perpetual thorn in his side as the house settles over time and seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. He will be perpetually readjusting the door as it sticks. If the framing is exposed then fricking correct it right now. Almost certainly he failed to account for the fact the house is already settled and the roof or floor is not level.

When you have guests over they think you hired a drunk polish contractor to do your home

I've been a professional drunk Pollack for 35 years. Here is how to do it right. Install the door, close it, find where it hits the frame, then mark it with a pencil. Open the door back up and measure 1.5 inches in from there then make a mark all the way down to the bottom. Use an angle grinder to cut the notch out. Be careful though if you don't make your cuts square people will think you are stupid. Your door should look like picrel when done.

Get a door prehung for a 30" rough opening and see if it fits while staying square

If your installing a prehung door see if it fits if not get a smaller one and shim the difference or go back and fix your frick up.

So it's out of square? Fix it then. That's literally the most basic thing you should make right, but how did even you do that in the first place?

You've got 3 studs holding up that opening. Just take out materials on the bottom and feather it up the stud to make it fit. If it's too big shave it off. Better to have a level and square rough opening than a whacked out door.

Hold a level against the studs to figure out which is out of plumb. Pull or sawzall the nails out of all three studs at the bottom and whack them with a hammer until they're where you want them. Check plumb again and refasten the bottoms.

Next time, use a laser level to mark where the tops of your studs need to go with a pencil (on top of the laser line.) Fine tune your rough door opening with the level.

Find out which side is out of level, and then fricking wail on the jack and king studs of that side with a 20lb sledgehammer. Like fricking go completely moronic on it, just smash and smash and smash it until there are chunks of wood flying everywhere and you feel like you're going to puke. You'll have plenty of room then

cut the bottom plate on one side 1 inch back and then knock the framing and filler studes back to match.
