For home defense- screen mesh and pic related for any that get in throughout the day. Doggo messed up previous screen mesh on the door asking to go out, so at the start of spring I installed "pet resistant" mesh. It is extra thicc and is made of vinyl which has some give to it. Fairly impressed with how strong it is. So far huge paws have not made a dent in it. It also blocks out more sun than carbon-fiber and/or aluminum mesh.

Citronella candle or burning spiral if outside in one place.

DEET spray if about innawoods. I prefer Cutter over Off since the former has a more pleasant fragrance than the later.

    permethrin master race checking in
    > As an insecticide, permethrin can be sprayed onto clothing or mosquito nets to kill the insects that touch them.

It's ok against ticks when sprayed on your trousers, socks and shoes.
But open skin will not be protected against mosquitos.

        Right. Defense in depth.
Permethrin on wrist & neck openings, long pants, permethrin on pant cuffs.
I hunt doves in Mexico. Mosquitos and noseeums are brutal. 1st year got eaten just using Off/Deet. 2nd year, used Permethrin on shirt/pants. Off on exposed skin. Didn't get a bite.
        Shit is magic.

I don't understand, you used permethrin on your clothes and didn't get bites on exposed skin?

Wrists (poking out under shooting gloves) were the most bitten the first (non-permethrin) year.
            Big learning was doing this:
            > long sleeve shirt
            > treat shirt collar and cuffs w/ permethrin
            > apply Off to neck and wrist
            > treat hat (a baseball cap) w/ permethrin
            > no bites on face
The bugs, especially the noseeums stayed away.

How powerful of a radar do you need to accurately track a mosquito within 20 yards? Imagine:
    >radar antenna on a raised platform
    >1MW pulse laser on a robotic gimbal assembly
    >anything smaller than a marble enters directed energy AA range
    >pulse laser knocks it down instantly
Perfect for barbecues and birthday parties
