What's Wrong?

So what's wrong with it? Why can't the mounting system hold zero? Is it all cheap chinesium? The mags are the best ak magazines ever designed at least.

Who cares. Rifle design peaked with the AR-15

The AR-15 chambers a weaker cartridge, the new XM7 chambers something similar to the 7.62x39, but the 7.62x51 NATO is still a fully powered cartridge for modern rifles. The FN FAL still uses it for example, that is reliable at 1,000 yards with good optics, steady zero, and training.

More commonly in America, the AR-10. Which was an earlier and more powerful design to the AR-15. Full circle back to ARs.

        doubt it

M7's round has the power of a 7.62x51 not 7.62x39. 6.8 is small but ridiculously hot

        >the new XM7 chambers something similar to the 7.62x39mm

Comparing 6.8x51mm to x39 is like comparing a jet plane to hang glider

    Nothing

It is should but Russian QC is awful right now for obvious reasons
    >is it all cheap chinesium?
    Probably

      >nothing

An unservicable gas tube, railed dust cover that cant hold zero, and a safety that can overtravel and block the trigger isnt nothing.

They should’ve simply gone on with modifying AK-74ms to have a decent lightweight railed fore end and spent the money instead focusing on optics and more NVG equipment for everyone.

How does doing that help me embezzle those sweet stacks of cash?

thats exactly what they tried at first but then someone thought

How does doing that help me embezzle those sweet stacks of cash?

      so og ak-12 happened

Most of the 74Ms in their stockpiles are shot out. They would still need to make new guns to modify.

You can't buy a new dacha by retrofitting existing rifles, anon.

I had owned civilian version of ak-15 in 7.62x39 called tr3. There is nothing wrong with it. It preforms as an ak. The problem is that all modifications that they did are crap. The top cover doesn't hold zero if you remove it. Front grip is flimsy so you can't mount anything on it except light and vertical grip. They wanted to have free floating barrel but the implementation sucks. Bild quality is well, Russian. It brings nothing new to the table. Better to buy ak74m and use Zenitco furniture. But that can be expensive and rifle gets quite heavy.
I have sold it and bought ar15. AR is superior in every way except extreme cold where trigger, bolt release and mag release can freeze making rifle hard to operate as was shown on many you tube videos.

I dont think there is anything wrong with it. The railed dust cover is hinged the same as on a krink, so its solid, and while I doubt the handguard would hold zero, russians dont issue lasers so its not really a significant criticism. Its just not an impressive improvement, which I figure is what people were expecting; but to be impressive in 2023 you need complex electronics or gimmicky semi-caseless shit, like the NGSW; which a railed AK was never going to be.

They made a good AK 12 back in 2012 but because they didn't steal enough money, they decided to continue redesigning it

That one had problems and failed trials too. People try and say how much better the earlier version was but the earlier version wasn't some masterpiece.

    >the folding stock doesnt lock and gets caught in everything
    >doesn't hold zero with scopes
    >they fucked up the safety, which can now be swept all the way down to the trigger guard if too much force is applied and render the gun temporarily unusable

How can you even make an AK that hold zero on the top without it just turning into a Galil or an RK?

Shouldnt they just admit defeat and go for something like a Sig 550?

      They have two solutions.
The AK200 has a better hinge and latch.
Or the ak512, which uses an AR like 2 peice receiver and an integrated top rail.

It had to be modern but cost below $850. So it should be modern but made on the existing tooling. All they could do is a plastic magazine and some tacticool shit

There is nothing with with 5.45x39. It's basically Russian 5.56 and it's got way better ballistics especially for longer ranges then what they had before.

It exists as a cheapification of the AK-74M.

Dustcover AK rear sights are alwats shit because the cover is flimsy and moves with every shot due to the recoil guide fitting into the rear of it plus every time its removed for cleaning.
MTK put the rearsight as far back as he could while still on a solid mounting at the trunnion block.
