If you look up to the sky, if there's no clouds, planes are gonna be darker than the bright blue behind them. That means you can search for, track, and engage planes without needing to turn on things like radar, which might tell your target, or someone else, that you're there. It also works from any direction, rather than only from behind like an infra-red seeker head at the time needed.
Sounds brilliant, does it work the same during the night or is there additional magic going on?

Night time is for sleep, no plane fly so no strela required

During the night you can just use the thermal seeker instead, because there's no giant blazing hot ball of plasma in the sky, and that means planes stand out much more clearly in infra-red as well.
Also Soviet shit boxes are surprisingly good in wargame red dragon. Does anyone know a lord accurate mod that allows the 30mm rarden to front pen t62s and below as was seen in iraq. Not to mention just about anything AT rates causing catastrophic turret tossing on all russian MBTs. And who tf thought russian infantry was good quality when they designed that game, the vdv are competent at best not elite.
The Tunguska costs more than twice as much, lower availability, no stabilizer. Strelas are great to send to secondary fronts, especially at the beginning, where they will shoot down light enemy helicopter attacks without need for micro. A group of them are also surprisingly good for point defense against enemy planes in a high SEAD environment.
I've seen it miss FlyEye drones multiple times and one time it couldn't even destroy a drone despite direct him. Basic Strela-10 is trash
would not go below 8,000 feet within 5 nmi of any armored/mechanized battalion/10
t. BMS enjoyer
The original photocontrast seeker was either a stroke of genius or pure retardation
Elaborate.
The seeke basically was searching for the brigter things in the area or what? What about the sun?
Other way around. It looked for dark spots in the sky.
I don’t get it, what’s the point of that?

I think it’s surprisingly good in Wargame: Red Dragon

GHPC has T-72's doing the turret toss. It's pretty satisfying.
Yeah they are a great cheapo SEAD option that can also fire on the move so it's perfect for convoy protection
why would u use that when tunguskha has passive aa missile?

>Said to be super mega flare resistant
>In reality gets defeated by one or two pops from a non maneuvering helicopter
From the Wagner summer party
Or maybe the seeker/guidance is just shit?
What the fuck do you think flare resistance depends on
Fireresistant materials
It was good for its time but it's becoming an increasingly dated system.
Outraged by most manpads, I don't really see the point of it.
At least it isn’t vulnerable to anti radar SEAD
Combat frog is cute. CUTE!
Anything bolted ontop of a MTLB is cursed.
Ignore filename, it was a strela
Nice video, I'm kinda surprised how accurate the guidance of those missiles are... but the proximity fuse is shit.
That was close actually
>X system is shit
>X systems performance is highly dependent on used munition and subtype
mfw
looks nice
Whats with the string/rope?
