Was it public knowledge back then that the CIA supplied the mujahedin in Afghanistan? I suppose not. I guess they do much more now.

Azov didn't resurrect itself after 50 years of inactivity for no reason. Soviets killed all the Nazis, purged 'em. No partizans left. But then, all of a sudden, with outside financing and support, they just pop up again? LOL

My guess is that most NATO forces have spooks or SOF on the ground, just waiting with laser/GPS target designators to start making stuff for airstrikes the instant NATO decides to get involved in person. I'm sure there are also guys analyzing captured equipment and intel, maybe debriefing defectors and captured soldiers, etc. Also of course guys advising and passing intel to Ukrainian leadership. Beyond that I don't think there's much though, I doubt SAD kill teams are running around engaging in actual combat or anything.

While that's super, and I'm totally sure it's also true counting places in Russia they've doubtless penetrated, as NATO has exceptional forces, it's probably also true on the other hand. How many of the literal hordes of Ukrainians who surged into Europe, many millions, are really just GRU in their free time? It's going to be very amazing to see what happens. And soon.

Having been through a class on covert action, it's very likely that they're doing something. The bombings that occurred last year glowed, but most covert action is more subtle. It's almost certain that they know where Putin is and are keeping tabs on him. They're also probably heavily influencing the press and public opinion on the matter. Modern tech makes them nigh-omnipresent so really it comes down to their creativity and what the leaders want to spend money on.
