Wait a second, does this shit mean tank can't turn its turret around because it interferes with gun traverse?

But think it of the aerodynamic benefits

Looks like a plywood shitpost so it would probably fall off it hit.

Remember that T-tanks have a turret bug where it starts spining when hit. That spoiler better not be steel.

It's to cope cage the rear of the tank, I would assume.

It looks like a model tank built by a small child.

It opens up the rear to allow more thrust.

wonder if the local aerodynamicist added a diffusor to it too, seeing as it has a two-plane rear wing similar to that of a formula 1 car

I think the solution is to just build an entire other tank and put the tank inside it. Not just a shed, an entire whole tank.

In case anyone wonders what the purpose of this is, the T-72 has an inadequate reverse speed, so in order to get away from the enemy, it is oftentimes necessary to turn the tank around and drive away with your rear towards the enemy, trading protection for speed, and in order to alleviate this, the back is up-armored.
Furthermore the engine deck armor is only 2cm, and the armor also prevents drones from flying in from behind and hitting the deck, or finding their way between the turret and hull, as the armor around the turret ring is also 2cm, which is the real problem.
Here is another attempt at alleviating this.
Armor attached to the turret that covers the entire top of the hull while in the 12 or 6 o'clock position.

but why design them as spoilers if the reason is up-armoring

        Anonymous

Yeah, I'm surprised they've never made a cope shed but just for the backside, that way they could still (kind of) turn the turret.

I dig how these massive add-ons look but know they're just adding weight to the vehicles. Stuff other armies in the past discouraged, but soldiers did anyway because they felt safer.
Seems like the spot everyone is aiming at is the rear turret ring. There is not a way to protect that 100% of the time. This is something that better situational awareness and APS has to fix. Getting hit is as good as being knocked out.

That's more of a way to prevent magnetic AT mines from attaching. But it's really hard so it should work!

A lot of the instant death FPV drone hits aim for the rear of the turret, might be for that rather than going full cagie.

for the off chance that a Ukrainian Leo crew reads this thread, if you kill the spoiler tank, please put pic related on your skirt and take a pic with the destroyed tank, then post results. Should be good for a dozen Taurus or so, you'll touch the german soul deeply.
