Whats the point of buying an intermediate caliber rifle if you cant fire in full auto?

What’s the point of buying an intermediate caliber rifle if you can’t fire in full auto? Why not just buy a full power rifle? Is it just military LARPing?

semi-auto is better and more accurate. name 10 scenarios where you would need full-auto. you can't, semi-auto is how real men fight.

i can think of one. laying down suppressive fire in sub-50yd cqb. not exactly dumping 30-45 rnds but in like 5 rnd bursts. specifically for psychological reasons. that's it.

        >laying down suppressive fire in sub-50yd cqb
Suppressive fire still works with semi-auto.

They're a militia group from Idaho, the worst named state, called the Real 3%ers Idaho.
According to NPR they were training doing convoy protection

Well at least they look somewhat professional with that uniform outfit. Most militias can't even agree on what pattern they wear

never been on the receiving end of gunfire but i guess that a couple bullets hitting a wall next to me and kicking around debris is not as scary as 10, 15, 20 bullets doing the same in 2 or 3 seconds.

youd guess wrong on the practical end of things, either one makes you take cover immediately unless youre looking to get shot. more impacts or a larger caliber might increase your pucker factor a bit but they get the same result. thats why practically everybody uses metered semi auto fire for suppression outside of MGs which are usually using 3-5rnd bursts outside of niche situations. Also ammo efficiency is a concern, the second most important thing right behind getting their heads down is keeping them there. A mag on semi auto lasts a lot longer than one on full auto

Lighter, Easy to use, almost no recoil once you know what your doing.

I understand the setienment (youre still moronic) and will carry a battle rifle in bear country but

Yea ar10s are tout about having this monstrous recoil but I can shoot it just fine with my 140lb twig frame. It's like running LPVOs you get used to it.

the idea behind intermediate cartridges is that you get two aimed shots at a person running from cover to cover, instead of just one. it's just a matter of how many milliseconds it takes to reacquire your sights

If you ever fire a rifle in automatic you will find its pretty useless past 30m as your rounds just pass over the target. Even in CQB you are supposed to be double tapping center mass with single shots.
Trench warfare in Ukraine seems to be the best case use for it.

I literally got taught to shoot by an ex 160th spec ops medic, he said that semi auto was better than full and he could shoot basically as fast
I’ll take that advice over somebody who’s probably never seen combat, respectfully

Ok, why does every military and police department buy select fire weapons then? Are they moronic?

What's the point in buying a full sized caliber rifle if you aren't going to hunt large game like Elk or engage people at 700+ yards? Why not just buy an intermediate cartridge rifle? Is it just Elk hunter and/or WWI LARPing?
