this, we are basically living it.

Gavin Newsom's heist of EDD and sudden failure to pay long established Gibs system and get away with it means The Gov't can now stop SSI, Medicare, military retirement, Fed and State, and Local pay, etc on any excuse and get away with it.

Like CA's EDD, it not that they are refusing, just system having issues but if you don't appeal it just right you lose your rights, etc.

That combined with open police stand downs and protection of Antifa/BLM is the future. Notice even in recent Antifa attacks on anti-pedophile protest in Modesto, CA the cops swept in to protect Antigays literally under 10 seconds into Antigays starting to get rekt. That means cops were 1/2 block down, engines running, eyes on the prize waiting for the GO! signal.

It will be like after USSR where lots of doctors, etc were going months and years without pay on some promise of "back pay" so they also stopped paying rents and everything just sorta stopped but also sorta kept going just real shitty. Doctors would still set broken legs but with flour paste casts and often no X-ray so often a little fricked up, and only vodka for pain killer or some croc.

Cops not paid but can barter "protection" for loaf of bread and can of beans.

Official Gov't still in place but its only function is to be fake and gay and wienerblock any legit Gov't from forming. Any legit large "Neighborhood Association" forms where people trade goods and services in a large and semi-organized fashion and The Capital will dispatch Goon Squads and label it a "militia" and "terrorist training camp" and shoot the place up and take leaders away to The Kamps.

Fpbp. Slow economic decline over the course of a few decades until everyone's living in the equivalent of urban ghettos, Appalachian lean-to's and trailers, or straight favela games. Wealthy people, ever smaller in number, will recluse themselves into fortified little mansion-suburbs or bougey downtown lofts. As things currently stand ibcome inequality is worsening and social mobility disappearing at a surprising rate. As the middle class shrinks and corporations continue to totally-not-monoploze we'll probably see workers' rights diminish and prices go up and more poverty and shit. Perhaps we'll even see the return of indentured servitude and repeal of all the EVA'S protections and our will will go full corporatist dystopia with smog filled urban hellscapes.

So there won't be a boogaloo. Just slow decline due to our decadence and multicultural enrichment.

Only possibility would be massive economic crash on a global scale I guess but we've never seen anything like that historically. There wasn't a boog during the great depression, just a bunch of poor people. Perhaps with our current political climate people would be more likely to freak out and splinter off into various cultural groups. However the US has always dealt with divisiveness. The early 20th century wasn't exactly a rosey time politically or culturally either. We would need an absolute perfect storm of a) another much worse pandemic, b) economic crash, c) much worse political climate (its not that bad right now trust me), d) more natural disasters. I think its possible but slow decline due to these things more likely.

        >There wasn't a boog during the great depression, just a bunch of poor people
        >t. did not pay attention to the depression stories his grandparents should have told him
Most people then were not dependent on the state or a massive supply chain as they are now. The US of the depression was a completely different animal than it is now and the one now would not be able to make it though a depression. If an economic collapse happened today, which it might given what is going on in China and our own markets, there would be millions of people unable to support themselves. Historically this does lead to violence, and violence will occur this time because daddy fed can’t pull the same tricks it pulled in the 30s. Everyone left of center talks about how great the new deal was but most of them don’t realize it set us up for the current situation we find ourselves in. Massive portions of the population directly dependent of the federal government for their day to day needs with an ever shrinking pool of tax revenue. It doesn’t help the Social Security Boomer Bomb is going to fall soon.

Yet how many people have gotten both jabs and still gotten sick and died? Israel is over 80% of people getting both jabs, they're pretty much 100% for every one at least having one. Yet over 7,000 new cases each day, plenty of people still getting horribly sick and dying, so if that's the case, no point in getting it. Even if the survival rate was 70%, still wouldn't get that, especially after how just getting the flu shot had a horrible reaction for me.

Here's a real answer: a significant natural disaster or weather event which causes a cascade of electrical infrastructure failure. Damage to certain key components of the power grid could take literally months to fix. What happens if there is no power to a large area for 30 days, with no ETA of resolution? 60 days? Absolute pandemonium. There no longer exists the skill, know-how, and ability to fix these things anymore.

I don't see the world ending one day, and I don't just see a gradual slide. I see a succession of steps and jolts which take longer and longer and longer to recover from, with full recovery from each successive event never truly occuring.

true SHTF is extremely unlikely. any unrest/conflict will be localized and will stabilize in a short time.

the most likely incident is probably either a solar flare or the cascadia subduction zone. but neither will happen in our lifetimes.

      Anonymous

      >will stabilize in a short time
it depends on what you mean by "stabilize" and "a short time."
Lets say something like the NYC Blackout happens on the scale of a tri-state region, and lasts for a month. There would be total chaos, mass death, looting, arson, trillions in economic damages. Order would be restored eventually, after tens/hundreds of thousands died and thousands were murdered. But after order is restored- then what? Things don't just "go back to normal" after that. Not really. There is permanent damage- economic, social, physical infrastructure- and its not getting fixed.

Could be anything. Maybe as simple as an attack or hack on the powergrid itself. Maybe a nuclear reactor goes down.

                Anonymous

ok well the only reason im skeptical is I work in the energy industry. that kind of an outage is unrealistic unless there is widespread devastation from a natural disaster. any kind of hardware fault or attack wouldn't be that difficult to recover from. my service territory has numerous failsafes, fuses, and redundancies.

I'll be honest, I want a happening too, but without a serious disaster (or nuke), it just aint gonna happen friend. I work with electrical engineers in the seven figure range, the only thing that spooks them is a carrington-style solar flare. Because not only will it destroy pretty much any on-wire device, but it also destroys most internet components as well, which is important because SCADA devices use the internet to control the grid. you see where Im going with this.

demographic collapse through continuing declining birthrates and skyrocketing suicide rates and psychosocial disorder (behavioral sinks)
devolution into more or less autonomous communities which sometimes trade with each other, but generally dislike each other. just like the internet
some people will wander between these communities because they are sociopaths, murderers, or generally anti-social dregs of the world that was. some communities will welcome and be broken by these people, some communities will shoot these people.
the only institutions left will be cultist or purposeful institutions, such as LDS or Catholicism (the latter mainly providing schools, hospitals, and consecrated religious to staff them) as well as new "past worship" nostalgia cults obsessed with the world that was, performing rituals which mimic the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
technology will stagnate, even regress to early industrial levels as high-tech components like integrated circuits slowly disappear.

what you will need to do in the next 10-30 years:
learn skills, particularly building fortifications, manufacturing chemicals, maintaining weapons, other light industry
build relationships with neighbors without external appeals to authority. provide self-reliance, mutual defense, and reciprocal aid
find ways to facilitate trade without external sources; meaning local, commonly-accepted currency.
