If the "frick you" is directed at something

If the "frick you" is directed at your own gun

Blackarc makes 77gr and 53gr vmax with the bimetallic case like the new SIG NGSW round. They put out 20" plus velocities out of 16" barrels, pretty gnarly

      or m855a1

      Mk318 any variety.
Fragmenting tip with penetrating solid base. Extremely barrier blind, but still fragments at low speeds like they extremely not barrier blind 77gr MK

Ballistic gel is not meant to be an analog of flesh and bone, merely a consistent medium to compare terminal performance

Are there any actual statistics to back up the popular lore that excessively expanding super fast rounds fail to incapacitate humans?

He's actually right though. All further development of the 5.56 cartridge is fundamentally devoted to compensating for shorter barrels and their relative ballistic inferiority. That said, most people find 20 inch barrels to be impractical and I think 77gr OTMs are justasgood

I think a lot of people have misconceptions because when they hear 20 inch, they think of pappy's hunting rifle with like a 24-28" barrel, and how frick long it is. the primary shortfall of the a4 was the fixed stock.
neckless 5.56, 20" a5 is my next build.

for real. 35" OAL is nothing like the ~43" OAL of classic hunting rifles and shotguns. but people have been spoiled by extremely short guns

I do own a couple 20" retro ARs and I love the way they shoot and how light they feel, but at the end of the day I am not going out doing LRRPs and shooting asiatics at 600yd. Realistically the most likely combat situation I am ever going to see is icing tyrone in my front hallway or yard or shooting random bullshit at the range, either task accomplished just as well by my 11.5 loudenboomer. My next build will probably be another retro though.

M16A1 is 'murica's rifle and the sexiest longarm ever made. Only the A2 comes close. Retro AR, best AR. Frick your tacticool bullshit.

      >Fudd thing actually best

Unironically yes. Although a true fudd would be using a shotgun and not an AR.

Based. The USMC should’ve upgraded to the M16A5 instead of adopting the Heckler and Kope 416

this is a neat run down. basically if they really wanted the ngsw ballistics, they just needed to lengthen 5.56 a little. it didn't require a whole new thing. but we all know that isn't what the point was.

STANAG magazine and AR-15 magwell prevent that.

Never ceases to amaze me how a lot of AR gays treat bullet expansion as some special thing only achievable through the holy Mk.262 77gr. TMK (Not to say that the 77gr Sierra isn't an excellent bullet). You are not a soldier. You can use every single hunting bullet on the market designed from the ground up to make gnarly wounds.

A lot of AR gays aren't even aware what soft points are. Usually suburban or urban gamer types. The aversion to being a fudd has resulted in a lot of people having just a straight up aversion to hunting (in part because of warranted hatred of boomer fudds and bubbas but also in part due to ignorance and often anti-white racism from swarthoid zoomers and millennials).

As an AK guy, with basically the only non-8m3 or Hornady defensive loads being various softpoints (and the fun feeding and stability issues that have come with that) I'm acutely familiar with that shit despite never having hunted in my life and being raised in a very cringe self-hating white kind of household growing up.

I keep soft points in my HD rifle. 62 gr Hornady deer cartridges. I load deer hunting cartridges in everything I might be forced to use against a human, so FNHC lead or JSPs. People tend to forget that humans are in the same size category as deer, and respond the same way to having their lungs blown out. It's important to have an exit would as well as an entrance, things bleed out faster that way and more blood makes them easier to track.

Mk.262 is not TMK, its a plain SMK. There are better choices as a civilian because you are not limited by JAG's interpretation of Geneva/Hague.

Why not 69gr OTM? It does what the 77gr does, but it goes faster ensuring more reliable terminal performance. You save over a third of a pound on ammo weight for a 300rd combat load out.

Are there 5.56 rounds that can pen level 4 plates?

2 green tips on the same exact impact point will.
      Beyond that, no.
You need more energy in the penetrator, or an explosive payload. 5.56mm is too narrow for either.

I’d hope not, there’d be little point to wear them if there was. If you plan on facing armor I’d recommend practicing up on your Mozambique drills.
