it's not actually made of glass, it's a type of ceramic or maybe the blood of a dead god, I'm not actually up to date on what glass armor is in the lore
      I should look that up

Nah, you're thinking of ebony which was the result of blood coming out of Lorkhan's heart when it was torn out, malachite is just a crystal that absorbs magic.

yeah it's just a weird ceramic or crystal that's found lying about on Nirn that's weirdly strong and does weird things with magic
          interesting
I should play Morrowind, any recommended mods to make it not suck

The game gets fun on its own after a few hours, but only as a mage, it's hilarious how insanely OP you can get after just learning a few tricks and exploits.
And then when you do learn the real exploits you can pretty much turn yourself into a god-being in like the first ten minutes of the game.

Just get OpenMW. Also don't frick up building your character if you're going for melee weapons. Get like 60 agility in your starting class and 40-50 skill in your weapon and you won't fall for the MISS MISS MISS meme in combat. Also get the mod where you harvest ingredients instead of them being containers. That's all you need for a first run. Afterwards get Tamriel Rebuilt for a massive map size increase.

I've been in the mood for some Real Wizard Shit, what with the upcoming episode of Dungeon Meshi and all

TR is good for most things but I'm a real sucker for Morrowind Rebirth's changes. Aside from that, OpenMW has a bunch of popular and easy to install modlists on places like https://modding-openmw.com/

I was thinking more about graphics, I guess

For graphics, I would suggest simply getting hi res texture packs that try their best to keep the exact original look of the object in question, just higher resolution.
Throw in some of the fog removal stuff and you're good.
First time Morrowind is actually something I would say you should play with as few mods as possible, both to appreciate what a mod is changing, and to get an idea of what you like and don't like about the base game that a mod can alter or upgrade for you. If you play too modded right out the gates, its harder to get a grasp on exactly what a mod is making different about the game.

With respect to wizards in Morrowind, its actually hard to frick it up. The main thing to keep in mind is spells can fail to cast, so early game you want to focus on easier to case, more efficient spells and then as you level you can scale into the stronger, harder to cast ones with more effects, larger radius, etc.
Don't discount something like Mysticism, which in my view is one of the strongest schools in Morrowind because it has absorb health.
Watch out for Destruction versus dark elves, since the staple fireball does much less damage against them and dark elves are everywhere.

      Bonemold armour is good too
      >what if we made fibreglass right
      >and we use an epoxy for compressive strength
      >but instead of fibre which provides the tensile strength we use... dust
      Amazing

Every day I see someone talking about Witcher 3. I think it's a sign from the universe that I need to finish the game. It's been years since I gave up on it. I should start a new campaign.
