I made a pretty good stain by putting some rusty screws/washers etc in a bucket with vinegar, some salt and few bits of copper wire. The water sealer israelite also fears motor oil. Use fresh oil for a lighter color or used motor oil for a darker seal.
Fortunately there was an old empty Olympic Maximum can in the garage to pour the leaking Ready Seal can fluid into but I did not have a lid for it. Those frickers from Weatherford fricked up my driveway.
It's not a stain really, but copper naphthenate type products seem to keep wood rot at bay pretty good. nasty smelling stuff - don't get it on your clothes.

Also forgot to mention add a little water to the vinegar mix, roughly 1 part water per 4 parts vinegar, let it simmer at least a week before use.
bottom rim of new metal can leaked overnight.
what the frick? 'seal' my ass "ready seal" gays.
Did you use a metal bucket to make this concoction anon?

>don't get it on your clothes.
Or your bare feet.
So ... probably not the best application on a deck.
Wood fences will benefit, specifically the posts and post tops. Also, you can use it if you have wood posts that are set in the ground for your deck.
have a nice day...
I used to use a product called Armstrong Clark, it's an oil based recoatble. It can wear on horizontal surfaces, but for fencing it was great.
Thanks!
Benjamin Moore. Will last at least 10 years if prepped properly
5 gallons going for $250 and it's water based. Olympic Maximum went water based too.
>stain
Whatever color you want, I guess?
>sealer
Raw tung oil. Boiled linseed oil if you can't find/afford it. Thin it 50/50 with turpentine/citrus solvent/mineral spirits/whatever.
Messmers UV Plus
it's expensive and pretty toxic and has a serious fire hazard risk, but it's very good
the best thing to do is pull the slats off, paint them horizontally then re-attach them
if they can't even seal their bucket how in the hell are they going to seal your fence?
