all revolver lengths are good it just depends on if you're worried about more, velocity or concealability

Most gunslingers preferred the shortest barrel possible in order to clear the holster as soon as possible in a quickdraw situation.

You have to take into account whether you're going to be getting into quickdraw dueling situations or whether you can reasonably expect to have more time to draw, aim, and fire. If such is the case, you would want a longer barrel which would theoretically increase your accuracy.

Arguably, the most ideal barrel length would be a perfect happy medium between these two concerns.

4" is a good all rounder length, not winning in either looks or size but is the smallest package you're getting where hot 357 is still controllable (plus a 4" K frame is undoubtably has that old school chic). Best snub length is 2.5 and best length when size isn't a concern is 6

4" is a reasonable middle ground for CCW and range shooting.

But if I only had one revolver, it would be a 3"

anything above 4 inches makes zero sense, even in a plinking/target shooting context.

No. What the frick are you talking about? Longer Sight Radius = more accuracy, longer barrel length = more velocity (100% of the time with .357 and .44 loads). 4 inch is the “standard” since that’s what policemen can reasonably carry and many self defense loads are optimized for, hunters if they were handgun hunting will always use longer than 4 for the longer sight radius and higher muzzle velocity.

      Post your revolvers dumbass

In the end, isn't the best barrel length the length we made along the way?
