Just get an AEMS, join the chinkmaxxers. In any case, your only option pretty much is either an EOTech (not a red dot) or something from Sig which is basically just buying a Holosun with more steps.

      >AEMS
that thing is ugly. why not the 512C instead?
also, the AEMS costs almost as much as an eotech over here lol

        Anonymous

You could, but the AEMS is just better with less tint, and better light transmission. Not as ugly with the Scalarworks mount.

I went to PAX one year and went to a starwars game panel and the morons were calling it an
            >ət-ət
            instead of an
            >eigh tee-eight tee.
I don't know how to type that any better but it made me want to suplex the troony sitting near me who was the developer of the game
            >ladykiller: in a bind
And that was when I was still a fairly liberal guy who had no particularly strong opinions on trannies.
            Frick starwars now.

I regrettably use an AEMS now because their emitters are made of some ancient Chinese magic that aren't affected by my astigmatism. Meanwhile the eotech reticle looks like 500 pixels that all bloom individually : (

          Anonymous

That's what an eotech looks like if you focus on the reticule. Focus on what your aiming at and it's crystal clear. You don't have astigmatism

The AEMS legitimately fricks under NV. I’ve used or owned every “high end” red dot on the market and they should all be scared.

    Eotech #1
    Vortex #2
Circle dots are not my personal favorite. They tend to be too busy for my tastes for a pure RDS. A single dot is fine.

Getting a circle dot in a tube instead of the big Eotech window is like the worst of both worlds.

the trijicon MRO HD has a circle dot, but its also an MRO so it has its own issues.

imo circle dots are shit anyway.

  6. 11 months ago

why do you want a circle dot, OP? Have you used one before and liked it more than a conventional dot? IMO you don't really get much of an advantage over a normal dot.

Not him but it's nice for accounting for height over bore at really close range.

        Anonymous

the circle is also really great at giving you a false-positive when shooting under stress. you end up firing when the circle is on the target instead of the dot.

          Anonymous

That sounds like a skill issue

            Anonymous

yeah it probably is. but the circle is supposed to be an aid for fast target shooting and it clearly doesn't help so why should i use it?

              Anonymous

No one is saying you have to use it, but some people like them. It's not like there's a shortage of non circle red dots.

          Anonymous

At close range why would that even matter?

          Anonymous

There's a bit of science behind it as I recall. People, especially males, are really good at centering a circle over a target. It's got something to do with hunting skills and aiming spears.

Now that I think about it, it's basically what we already do when looking through a scope. We know to instinctively put the target in the center of the circle that's formed by the scope body.

i don’t mind giving money to China. They will get a cut one way or another because SOME things are always made in fricking China, I bet even in aimpoint and eotech optics. even if it’s just the plastic.
I’m more worried about reliability. Dying holosuns aren’t unheard of, quite the opposite actually

        >Dying holosuns aren’t unheard of, quite the opposite actually
They seem to have qc down lately. They've only gotten really big in the last two years. So early issues were probably just that; early issues.
If they bring NV/thermals down to less than 1000 dollars they will pry open the market for outfitting the common man with equipment that puts him on par with SWAT, the ATF and HRT.
And I will bless them forever.

i get the ATF but its a bit odd that you single out SWAT and the FBI HRT lol

Not that anon but HRT and SWAT are part of the same system that wants to at best enslave you and at worst destroy you.

            Anonymous

People give the ATF shit for Ruby Ridge and Waco (rightfully so), but a lot of it was the FBI, especially HRT. Lon Horiuchi was an HRT sniper, not ATF.

Pretty much a meme at this point, Holosun's QC isn't worse than anyone else's. EOTech still has delamination problems. Won't apply to 99% of EOTechs, but it still is a problem. At this point, Holosun has been used in warzones all over the world, by countless police departments and is easily the most popular CCW optic on pistols now. They have a very established reputation by this point so the only reason not to buy one is going to be entirely personal taste.

if your holosun dies you can just pocket a second and third and possibly 4th for less than the price of an aimpoint
