What's a good wet and dry vacuum cleaner? What parameters should I be looking for?

What's a good wet and dry vacuum cleaner? What parameters should I be looking for? I noticed that a lot of cheaper models have shitty paper bag filters, it would probably make sense to avoid those.

    Buy a Stanley brand (stanley/dewalt/craftsman)
    Get a metal bodied one.
Dont think too hard about it.

I have a metal bodied DeWalt I bought from Costco for $90. I’ve used it every other day for 2 years on the job. It’s pretty good. I have three filters I rotate out but they need to be replaced soon. It’s loud and I wish it had a second spin collar on the end of the hose. Other than that it’s good. I will prolly upgrade to a professional Rigid or other brand with a HEPA filter at some point as I don’t want to be breathing in silica dust and other construction material.

I cover my filters with cut off panty hose leg sections. Haven't bought a filter in many years.

if the filters are vinyl you can wash them with detergent. for some vacuums there are additional filter socks

Paper bag filters provide more airflow than the little filter that you screw in the top. More surface area. Bagless vacuums stink, and the only reason consumers believe otherwise is because of Dyson marketing.

What are you going to be sucking?
Are you going to move it around a lot?
Planning to connect tools to it?

A proper filter will have quite an impressive surface area. And unlike the bag, the usable area will remain much more constant.
