Gulf War 3: Autumn in Moscow
Bomb the frick out of Ruskies for like 6 months wiping out their airforce, air defences, and logistics, and then just steamroll their army, just like in '91 and '03. Seeing how poor their performance would be it would be exactly like the wars against Iraq with most Russian formations disintegrating on first contact and "elite" formations actually standing and dying.

NATO militaries do a lot of inter-training, as well as all the inter-operating at technical and command level. it's generally a helpful thing, albeit expensive. UK maintained carrier-landing skills for pilots by cross-decking with USN for years.

Putin wouldn't do shit if NATO intervened in Ukraine. Not a single goddamn fricking thing. He would just whinge and blyat to the UN and shit and blather "muh nooks", but he'd be powerless to do anything because NATO intervening to defend a neighbor against Russian aggression isn't actually an attack on Russia and Russia knows it. Everyone on Earth who isn't clinically moronic knows Putin wouldn't do shit. We should simply start carpet bombing their troops already. Just stay out of Russian airspace, don't attack into actual Russian territory. Bomb everything than enters Ukraine back to the stone age and keep talking 1991 borders. Zero pretext for Le Monke to do anything other than whine and b***h like the manlet balding ape he is. And he wouldn't because in the end the Monkey wants to just live.

Defending Ukraine from Russian aggression by repelling Russian forces having illegally entered a foreign nation =/= Attacking into Russia itself.

If Russia was gonna N00K why haven't they already? We are openly feeding the Ukrainians intel and weapons. Like we are directly stating that we are doing it and even advertising it on TV. We are already helping the Ukies to win, and they are winning, it's just slow. The russians are already claiming on their own TV shows that they are fighting americans and british NATO forces in Ukraine. Why isn't Russia nuking Ukraine, or NATO suppliers? Cuz they want to live, that's why. It's a bluff. There's no threat they'd start nuking. It's BS. A bluff. The people in power in Russia want to live. They know that if their army is defeated in Ukraine they still get to live. If they start nuking they all die.

    >What would a NATO direct intervention in Ukraine look like?
Depends on the level, picrel is a fan favorite but that would take a while to set up which would lead to one of three outcomes, 1, the Russian's see it and scamper back to Russia proper, 2, they get rolled to Russia proper, 3, nuclear escalation.
The second and much less risky approach would be to allow Ukraine access to western contractors and more importantly "contractors" as in military personal who "quit" suddenly to work in Ukraine for big bucks but keep their command structure, equipment and logistics chain. This can do a lot damage on the ground but it would be most devastating in the air as western "contractors" bring their own F-15 Strike Eagles from home.
Third would take the form of a NATO/EU/UN whatever peace mission to stabilize sections of Ukraine, really a tripwire force. Put them all below the Belarusian border and all of Ukraine can fight in Donbass. Have them handle all the logistics and operate some of the more complex systems but not really because they are just there to stop bandits or whatever. There presence would help Ukraine bleed the Russians out faster. If Russia hits them with a missile strike accidently on purpose, a day of retaliations through airstrikes or tomahawks would cripple the Russians a bit speeding up Ukrainian victory.

If I recall correctly, the run up for this conflict in terms of preparation was between 6 months and a year.

NATO is a defensive alliance so it wouldn't be able to even get to that point with months and months of arguing between politicians in EU nations about what to do.

NATO is a defensive alliance against the USSR. For some reason NATO did an offensive against Yugoslavia after the USSR ceased to exist. I guess you could say NATO in Afghanistan was defensive in that it was defending Israeli interests.

That would only lead to Russia dropping tacnukes on Rammstein and other NATO bases in Europe. USA would not mind a nuclear war as long as it was confined to Europe, and Russia would not mind a nuclear war as long as it was confined to outside Russias border. The only way out for european NATO members would then be to drop out and declare themselves neutral, giving Russia a default victory. If USA escalates too much, joe pleb muttmericans will drop everything and run for the hills - literally - abandoning the big cities, causing a serious economic implosion, because they expect a nuclear war on American soil.

Kek, the way it looks now. NATO is not willing to sacrifice their own golems because antiwar sentiment is high in the west. They also don’t want to send NH90, Puma, Tiger Leo and Abrams, because the massive maintenance and technical problems they have don’t just appear when forced into actual combat. They would be completely demystified.

NATO is fine with the Ukraine taking all the losses and they are sending them material that has been proven to work in other conflicts. It’s what nato would actually use after their token tech breaks down first two days into the conflict.

Yes but it is antiwar sentiment generally, so uneasyness about Ukraine escalation, goes hand in hand with utter disgust at what Russia has brought about.

Antiwar sentiment as in "oh it's Russia's backyard let's stay out of it", this is a Kremlin/RT fantasy which only exists with fringe morons like Tucker and Ramzpaul.

The Damocles Gulf Crusade, AKA "upstart minor power learns the Way Things Work Around Here". The greatest display of "Frick around and find out" ever recorded in the annals of military history. Those that somehow survive and limp back to Russia will tell stories of pillars of fire descending from the sky, earthquakes and lightning consuming tanks by the company, and that no good Russian should ever again cast his eyes to the West, lest the West notice. The wrath of the First World will be poured out on the Russian Army, and they will--at long last--understand everything.
