They were both always real. It's a pretty textbook element of strategy; you squeeze your enemy everywhere it hurts all at once, and give him the choice of which situation he wants to catastrophically frick up first.

            Anonymous

This. It's not a feint, though loudly announcing Kherson WAS an attempt to get Putin to concentrate forces there. Ukr + their US/UK advisors analyzed the situation and concluded they could bottle up a lot of Russia's strength in the field in an inconvenient place, and they proceeded to do that.

The Kherson offensive is still going, though its gains are obviously less flashy. Because the Russian groups there are isolated from resupply and relying on river barges and pontoon bridges which are constantly under attack, the Ukrainians can afford to take their time. If resistance gets stiff, stop and siege. If they seem to be giving, exploit. And soon the Kharkiv offensive forces will be in a position to wheel to Kherson, at least in part.

Ukraine also doesn't seem to have committed whatever operational reserve they have.

Russian video blogger who volunteered as a marksman was crossing a pontoon bridge when artillery landed nearby. He unintentionally filmed his eardrums exploding and his brain being damaged, along with panicking comrades screaming in fear and fumbling to aid the wounded.

Tbh I don't think the Kherson offensive was a feint, and the Ukrainians are still there in force. Ukraine is becoming strong enough to start putting pressure on multiple fronts. The Russians are overstretched and they're starting to really hurt now because of it.

This is correct. Ukraine has a southern and eastern decentralized command each responsible for their own theaters with central command working to coordinate and form overall strategy. The whole beauty of this and why it worked is that both fronts were 100% legitimate strategic goals. EITHER of them would have been great wins. UA damaged Russian command/logi to the point where it couldn't do both well and then made them choose with a credible threat. Russia chose Kherson and the land bridge to Crimea which isn't even illogical per se. But with the help of Western intel Ukraine was ready in a way Russia is too blind to have gotten and here we are. But it's not like they're just going to give up on Kherson either, they're serious. If Russia yanks forces from there, it's back on the menu. If they don't eastern theatre continues.

No it wasn't. It was a legit offensive that stalled, so the Ukrainians are playing that one down. Ukrainians wanted to kill two birds with one stone, by attacking both Kharkiv and Kherson. They didn't have much success in Kherson, but their northern offensive really got the job done.
And to be fair, if the Ukrainians play it smart, they can still turn the Kharson offensive around, because all they need to do is to cut through the middle and the Russian logistics get fricked.

          Anonymous

Kherson is still going, just slowly. It's the offensive that can afford to go slowly, since the Russians there do not have the transpo logistics to get away or get sufficient reinforcement/resupply.

I don't think the Ukrainians expected it to be an easy battle in Kherson. The BEST (by Vatnik standards) Russian units are there.

Nah, you don't throw this many troops into a meatgrinder for a mere feint. It's just inefficient and the Ukrainian losses would nullify and advantage this feint was supposed to gain.
It's either a feint that went horribly wrong, or a legit counterattack that stalled.

Yeah. If you try and look into actual Ukie casualties vs. ukie advances, Kherson is nasty. It's nowhere near as bad as the RusBlack folk paint it "4000 dead hohols 500 tanks kaputt", but the Ukies did suffer some serious damage so far. Mind you, this does not mean much, but it's worth mentioning.
Before passing any judgement on how things are looking overall in Kherson and what the future may bring, I'm really curious about the logistical situation of the Russians in Kherson. I don't care for any conjecture, or shitty propaganda, I'd love to have an actual estimate (or even better leaked report) on what they're able to get to their troops.
Depending on what they're getting in, the whole Kherson counteroffensive may range from stalled until further notice to Kherson being surrendered this month.

            >Every living PoW can be eventually be exchanged for a Ukrainian PoW
In theory, yes. In reality, Russia DGAF. Early in the war, first few weeks in March, the Russians who got captured were contacting their families and were told that if they came back to Russia, they'd be killed for the shame they brought by surrendering.

            > Ukrainian POW
BTW, although these guys are of course important, I think it's even more important for Ukraine to get back the kidnapped women and children whom Russia moved to "filtration camps". Apparently Russia figures to make up their population losses by stealing Ukrainian children, adopting them out, and telling them they were always Russians.

I thought it made perfect sense since the russian troops would be less effective than they'd be in the east once the bridges we're destroyed. So Ukraine called them to come from a place where they were pretty well supplied to a place where they couldn't get any supplies so they could kill them.

There is no sort of that kind of internal consistency anon. To these people the government aid THEY get is legitimate and good but the aid that OTHER person gets is bad, simple as that.

Not really any different in the US where there are lots of people heavily on government aid programs or subsidies who then bleat about "welfare queens". Look at a map of the ratio of what dollars states pay into the federal government vs how many dollars they get back.

Overlay that map of states gibs with where the black population lives. Democrats think it’s some sort of gotcha that Alabama gets more federal dollars than Minnesota while ignoring that Alabama is damn near 40% black population and Minnesota is 4%.

                Here you are:
                https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/donor-states
Virginia has 20% blacks and takes in more federal aid than any other state.
Kentucky is no. 2 and has 8% blacks.
the facts are plain- red states are financially and operationally incompetent and need federal subsidies to even exist and they cannot fend for themselves or adequately support economic growth or technological development. Red states are a net drag on the US as a whole, leeches desperately trying to stay alive on the back of the blue states whale.
I'm mean, sorry you're a helpless welfare parasite, but you are.

As mentioned in another thread, a good chunk of this is also due to Republicans steadfastly refusing to invest in infrastructure, then claiming it was a bad idea all along when it falls apart, so they can hand the reins over to their buddies in the private sector and guarantee themselves a cushy job once they get out of politics.

It's true, no arguing that. Hell, the list of bad bridges and roads is mostly in blue states.
i thik the other factor is just racial separation. places like Massachusetts, Illinois and California or Minnesota were for the most part settled by entrepreneurial go-getters, men with ambitions and drive to build progress and prosperity. Whereas red states are pretty much where lower status men found the, selves, like hispanics in Texas or scots-irish in the south, breeding like rabbits and scratching out a living with no interest in doing meaningful thing.
I mean, if your family got as far as Oklahoma or Kansas and decided, 'eh good enough' you were probably not destined for greatness, let's be frank.

Are the Russians going to mobilise in response to this?

      Anonymous

How much will it even help them at this point? Most of their experienced cadre is either dead or in fragmented half strength units, they don't have much left to put at the head of another 100,000 college-age kids with two weeks of training.

      Anonymous

If they would've mobilised earlier this could have been a completely different outcome, but the reality is that there just isn't the resources left to mobilize. They'd need trucks, weapons, ammo, food, training, morale and the russians simply don't have any left nor the ability to get any in the numbers that'd matter. China isn't going to lend lease them but thatd be about the best case scenario for russia at this point.

        >If they would've mobilised earlier this could have been a completely different outcome
Yeah, in exchange for Izyum maybe not getting assfricked, Kherson's already surrendered to avoid starvation because they had twice as many doomstacks there and now Ukraine's pontooning to Crimea and the entire southern front's collapsing instead.

Ukraine's hitting Russia in the logistics. You don't solve that with mobilization. You solve that by not being Russia.

Oh I agree, don't get me wrong. When I say they should've mobilised sooner I meant in March so they could field trained troops by now. Hell, by not calling it a war in the first place and leaving a bunch of conscripts behind they screwed the pooch.

the problem is that most of russian "support" for the war is really just apathy and regular people not wanting a shake up in their regular lives. Thats why people from far out regions of russia are very overrepresented in the army and deaths and why mobilization would spell the end of the putin regime almost immediatly as soon as battlefield deaths would trickle back and people stop wanting to die in a foreign war for basically nothing

One thing I still don't underystand is the actual size of the Ukrainian Army. The entire offense was undertaken by what they themselves call the equivalent of a NATO division. How many men does Ukraine actually field, from the maps it appears it's army size hasn't increased whatsoever despite mobilisation.

They're not doing a WW2 style mass draft, they just called the reserves/veterans for actual combat units, and some civilians for specialties like technicians and medics
Beyond that there's more volunteers for combat than there is equipment for them

This confuses me. Everyone described it as a lucky "attack of opportunity", but if you look at the coordination of the offensive, and the effective use of combined arms, it seems like it would require a lot of planning and force buildup. Was the meticulous planning for the offensive kept a secret from most of the Ukrainian public and military, or are the Ukrainian high command just that good at improvising?

the ukies and US spent the whole summer during the stalemate wargaming out this operation. There were a ton of small strategic strikes that took out a lot of supply chains and redirected them that appeared to just be random. All the press releases and media done has been very deliberate. They basically are still in prep in chess while russia didn't think past move 4.

Surely Putin must realise the risk of losing everything in Ukraine, even Crimea, is very high now. Every day Ukraine retakes more territory and Russia therefore loses negotiation power. If he waits until everything is retaken he'll be in a shitty position to even get the sanctions lifted. For now I guess they'll keep withdrawing troops to try and stabilise an ever smaller clutch of territory, all the while hoping energy problems in Europe over winter break NATO resolve. But the strategy of depending on weakening resolve depends on Russia at least maintaining a stalemate. Resolve doesn't evaporate so easily if you're winning.

So overall, even if the territory retaken isn't a large chunk of the occupied territory, it isn't exaggeration to these last few days have been a disaster for the Russian side. One, because it diminishes Russia's immediate and future negotiation capital, and two because it significantly weakens their "wait out the winter" strategy.

I do narrative analysis as part of a small team of hobby researchers. Most of us are from Sec.Studies / Conflict research and we have an OF-2 that sits with us now and then.
Doing narrative analysis for the Russian war in Ukraine is fascinating. I'll spare you the details, but in my opinion Russia has been looking for a way out since March.
Russia is trapped in really difficult messaging environment. There was and to a certain degree still is a high level of EAT (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust) placed in the reporting of Russian institutions. Their messaging always has to be understood as a sort of complete package - external signaling, internal signaling, negotiation basis. In most western countries these things are much, much more separate.
This puts Russia in the awkward position where every message has to be tailored for vastly different recipients.
While Russia is advancing, this is not a terrible issue. The message is the same for everyone: We will win, Ukraine and respected Western partners are prolonging the inevitable.
With every setback, as most of you have seen, there appears a gap between messaging and reality. Keef, Snake Island, Kharkiv simply do not fit the current communication model of the Russian government. They can not properly internally justify it. And while the average Russian is willing and able to overlook this once or twice, with each setback this will become exponentially more difficult.
Their initially stated goals are also biting them in the ass. They've created a narrative of a massive "Nazi" threat along their borders, that is genociding ethnic Russians - what else besides total victory is acceptable in this case?
What they've been trying to do since March, with very little effect mind you, is to shift the wargoals, while avoiding any clear ones. While in February and March everyone always repeated "Demilitarisation, Denazification, Donbass, Crimea", official messaging has almost completely shifted to "Donbass, Crimea."

        Anonymous

The most damning point for me are the increasingly common statements along the line of "The longer this takes, the more difficult negotiations will become" or plainspeak "Surrender now or we'll take even more shit."
Compare that to earlier statements of this kind. The RU government made it very explicit in March, that the way Ukraine behaved, its very statehood was at risk and, should Ukraine not surrender, Russia will be """forced""" into drastic measures.
Most of these concrete threats have evaporated. Together with the original wargoals. What we're left with is a Russia that's desperately trying to reach all recipients of its message at once, with their current negotiation position being "Donbass, Crimea. A-a-a-and if you d-d-dont surrender now...there will be consequences!"

        Anonymous

All Russia has accomplished in Ukraine is to drive ethnic Russians in Ukraine away from anything Russian. Their worst attacks were unleashed upon historical RUSSIAN (by ethnicity) cities in Ukraine.

Ethnic Russians in Ukraine will now think of themselves as Ukrainian first, and may renounce any sense of Russian identity connection at all.

Like American colonists and Britain when the Empire said, "You're either with us or against us." A lot of formerly loyal British became Americans in America.

There's a chance I'll actually cover this entire project as my PhD. If so, I'll definitely drop it on here.
Sadly, most narrative analysis in the meantime is done by journalists, writer and other people. Mind you, their insights are valuable but often very, how to put this, "flowery".
For example, one method I employed for shits and giggles was to look for the word "Nazi" and its many derivations, such as "Nationalist" in the Russian MoD briefings. Over time, there was a massive dropoff of the usage of those words, except after suffering a notable setback. Again, if this turns into my PhD I'll drop it on here.
Most Journos would never bother running even such a rudimentary analysis of shit though.

Yes, I noticed it too. They're calling ukie army "armed formations" now, a similar phrase they used during chechen wars ("criminal armed formations" of chechen rebels). They would literally use any wording other than "armed forces of Ukraine", to further delegitimize resistance.

Wtf. Is this legit? Because if it is, memes aside, nukes will fly before Russia let's that happen. Retaking all of Donbas? Russians will cope themselves down from the situation and tell themselves they never wanted it to begin with. Retaking Crimea? It'll be rough, but given the recent events and the ukies ability to promptly unfrick themselves and steamroll vatniks, I think it's definitely possible. But demilitarization of Russia and force reparations on them? I don't think that's going to go well at all.

Like if I'm selling a used car on craigslist I'm not going to put down my actual acceptable price, I'll list it way higher and negotiate down from there. The buyer needs to feel like they've achieved a better outcome than the starting proposition.

        >BUT THE NOOO00000000000KES
No. Putin may be a bumbling moron with no sense of honour, duty or common sense, but he's not suicidal. If Putin went as far as trying to launch nuclear weapons because of his losses in Ukraine, he'd either get unironically Caeser'd by his retinue or his nuclear command staff would simply refuse to follow orders. The Soviet Union has inadvertently saved the world a few times by refusing to fire on what turned out to be false alarms. Modern Russia would certainly not fire on the basis of quasi-dictatorial whims and no similar event occurring to them. As much as we like to downplay it, plenty of Russians are educated people, especially the ones working in high-end military installations. Any nuclear event Putin orders would simply be refused outside of a confirmed incidence of a nuclear attack on them.

I strongly disagree. This assumes entirely rational actors that are able to understand the direct ramifications of their actions. The Cold War came to the brink of nuclear annihilation more than a couple times, and for less. I can absolutely, unequivocally guarantee that if Ukraine invades Russia and the conflict does not immediately sour for them Russia WILL make use of nuclear weapons. Once the Russian people believe the war is no longer a conflict of convenience but an existential threat, they will go right back to the bug people that ran by the millions into the meatgrinder of the Eastern Front. Putin himself is not suicidal no, but he may very well realize his end is near and to go out in a blaze. All it takes is a few people following that mindset for at least a few million to follow him into the void. Never underestimate humanity's tendency towards chaos rather than order, you will be disappointed every time.

Yes, people for the next ten generations are going to have to live in a hellhole, but we'll be alive, our enemies will be dead, and the West will be the objective ruler of the planet as it always was, without anyone left alive to pretend otherwise. I don't see a problem here.

There are multiple people between Putin and the big red button, all of which are presumably educated, with the front being power-hungry political operators and the rear being well-trained soldiers. The most likely outcome of Putin ordering nukes is getting accidentally fallen off a ten story building because his yes-men, while obviously completely servile to him, only operate out of self interest. A nuked Russia is not a world fitting to their self interest. Meanwhile the actual operators are not going to push the red button. They will question the order or figure out how to delay, all the while the order gets leaked and someone somewhere decides to put a bullet in the back of Putin’s head.

The content of the letter itself is apocryphal as no original version of it can be discerned from the many variations of it that exist, as each translation has added more romantic embellishments and vulgarity to it that it's unknown how much it ha changed over history of it was even similar to this at all, but the most 'popular and famous' versions of it have the Cossacks mock the many titles by which the Sultan honors himself and call him a goat-fricking prostitute of Satan, and how they can metaphorically kiss their ass.

I doubt this is official policy, they're not really at the negotiating table yet so the status quo is for both sides to shitpost as hard as possible. Even ignoring nukes (I don't believe nukes are on the table), Russia has so far abstained from full on crimes against humanity. If Russia is going to be permanently turned into an international pariah, and Putin humiliated, this conflict elevates to the level of an existential risk for Russia, even moreso than it is now. I'd be worried about a real Russian chimpout as an attempt to save face and hold the Federation together. Their military may be an embarassment, but I assume they still have fairly substantial strategic strike capability, I really would not like to see a Grozny repeat in every major city east of the Dniepr.

        >Russia has so far abstained from full on crimes against humanity
The mass graves of civilians disagree. I've seen footage of a tank icing a civilian bicyclist just for existing. Frick off with that bullshit.

Frick's sake, Russia's been using more or less indiscriminate rocket spam to take towns instead of street clearing. That shit's as total war as you can get. The only reason there aren't more civilians dead is they've been evacuated when able.

And when they haven't been able, Russia's deliberately targeted their shelters to horrific consequence, like the theater bombing.

          Anonymous

I'm not saying they're not comitting warcrimes, or even that they're not comitting a lot of warcrimes, but no, it absolutely has no risen to the level of total war yet. They're not bombing cities into rubble, there's not a policy of indiscriminant killing at a strategic level. 5,000-8,000 civilians were killed at Grozny, we haven't seen anything even remotely close to that yet, and I would prefer to keep it that way.

Mariupol has three times the population and around a sixth of the civilian deaths. My only argument is that as bad as things are now, Russia has demonstrated that they're willing to make them much worse, and it's worthwhile to avoid that outcome as much as possible. Pushing for "The complete surrender and demilitarization of Russia" does not make sense as a goal for negotiations.

Don't want to die, try surrender. Unless you were involved in war crimes. Then if you don't want to die, try deserting and changing into civilian clothes, cause the Ukrainians are making a list and checking it twice and you don't want to find out if you're on that list.

Then they're frickwits. They if anything pulled out early because the Russians got lucky with one of the bridges. The only tryhard moment was the counterpush towards the end where they sent in a fresh rearguard that ended up splitting and encircling part of the Russian forces that had broken formation while chasing the Ukrainians out of town, which was just fricking hilarious.

Putin destroyed his military, his economy, and his country due to his ignorant pride and foolish behavior.

Putin didn't destroy their military. It was already a joke since the collapse of the soviet union if not faster. Its been dying a slow death for a while now despite their attempts to fix it.

Except Putin thought it was serious business. Russia spent money/time/effort on those military reforms that have turned out to be vaporware. And then his entire beef with America and then the EU over the ascension of Ukraine and Georgia to potential NATO membership. Looking back, he wasted all the resources and burnt all those bridges for nothng.

      Anonymous

Also Ukraine threw an overwhelming armor advantage at thin lines with no bridges to retreat across like what usually happens. So much of this war has been fought against rivers or borders or ridiculously dug in years old trench lines I don't think people realized there was a giant gap of claimable land here leading right into the heart of Russia's entire northern offensive.

Putin Doesn’t Realize How Much Warfare Has Changed
The Russian president’s obsession with World War II is hindering his invasion of Ukraine.

    By Antony Beevor

Otto von Bismarck once said that only a fool learns from his own mistakes. “I learn from other people’s,” the 19th-century German chancellor said. Astonishingly, the Russian army is repeating the past mistakes of its Soviet predecessor. In April 1945, Marshal Georgy Zhukov, under intense pressure from Stalin, sent his tank armies into Berlin without infantry support. Vladimir Putin’s forces not only made the same error; they even copied the way their forebears had attached odd bits of iron—including bed frames—to their tanks’ turrets in the hopes that the added metal would detonate anti-tank weapons prematurely. This did not save the Russian tanks. It simply increased their profile and attracted Ukrainian tank-hunting parties, just as the Soviet tanks in Berlin had drawn groups of Hitler Youth and SS, who attacked them with Panzerfausts.

The Russian president’s distorted obsession with history, especially with the “Great Patriotic War” against Germany, has skewed his political rhetoric with bizarre self-contradictions. It has clearly affected his military approach. Tanks were a great symbol of strength during the Second World War. That Putin can still see them that way defies belief. The vehicles have proved to be profoundly vulnerable to drones and anti-tank weapons in recent conflicts in Libya and elsewhere; Azerbaijan’s ability to destroy Armenian tanks easily was essential to its 2020 victory in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

      Anonymous

Yet Putin seems to have learned as little as he has forgotten. In August 1968, the Warsaw Pact forces entering Czechoslovakia were told by their political officers that they would be welcomed as liberators. They found themselves cursed, out of fuel, and hungry. Morale was shattered. Putin’s control of domestic media can hide the truth from most of the Russian population, but his conscripts, forced now to sign new contracts to turn them into volunteers, are all too aware of the reality.

His treatment of his own people is as pitiless as his treatment of his enemies. The army even brought a mobile crematorium to Ukraine to dispose of Russian casualties in order to reduce the body-bag count going home. Putin’s Soviet predecessors had a similar disregard for their troops’ feelings. In 1945, the Red Army faced a number of mutinies. Frequently treated with contempt by officers and political departments, soldiers were ordered out at night into no-man’s-land not to retrieve the bodies of fallen comrades, but to strip them of their uniforms for reuse by replacement troops.
Another old pattern repeating itself in Ukraine is the Russian army’s reliance on heavy guns. In World War II, the Red Army bragged about the power of its artillery, which it called “the god of war.” In the Berlin operation, Zhukov’s artillery fired more than 3 million shells, destroying more of the city than the Allies’ strategic air offensive had. The Soviets used Katyusha rocket launchers, which German troops nicknamed “Stalin’s organ” for their howling sound, to kill any remaining defenders.

Apparently Putin has plunged into this bizzaro Neo-Tsarist Empire Cult thing. His understanding of WWII Soviet martial philosophy is pretty primitive.

Sure he's a Russian Neo-Fascist, but he's also a Neo-Tsarist. He wants the right to conquer again.

        https://foreignpolicy.com/2022/03/13/putin-russia-war-ukraine-rhetoric-history/

        https://www.economist.com/briefing/2022/07/28/vladimir-putin-is-in-thrall-to-a-distinctive-brand-of-russian-fascism

But regardless, he has a very crude gasp of WWII Soviet fighting. He just sends men to die and fires lots of artillery. He wastes resources and is extremely predictable, and inflexible.

The Ukrainians on the other hand definitely understand their military history on a far more intellectual level.

Back at the start of the war slavs were in the threads talking about how Putin thinks Shoigu is the descendent of Genghis Khan and employs a shaman, bathes in deer blood, and has built a literal ziggurat with WWII relics in it

Also that apparently Putin received an 'Ides of March' prophecy from a witch that he'd die of 'green snot', which is why he's so paranoid about COVID and why he hates Zelenskyy so much, because his name apparently sounds like slang for 'green snot'

                >In the late first millenium of the Diaspora of Man, the Slav Supremacists of Ukraine decided to create a superior human. Their genetic laboratories procuded a line of "super soldiers" with enhanced strength, better reflexes, faster healing, and (allegedly) enhanced intelligence. These soldiers were then used to attack other nations in an attempt to gain dominion over the planet.

                >At this point, the Confederacy was in the process of defeating the Ukrainians, but the chaos and political infighting after the coup turned the war in Europe around. The Western European nations had been busy genetically modifying diseases such as anthrax, botulism, bubonic plague, meningitis, typhus, cholera, and the Ebola virus. Having integrated "kill switches" and stockpiled disease-specific vaccines, they believed themselves to be safe and employed the weaponized diseases agains the Asians. Initially, they had almost exactly the desired effect, but after three T-years the pathogens started spreading and mutating among the civilian population, and eventually found their way back to Europe, largely immune to the vaccines their creators expected to protect them.

I KNEW IT, I TOLD YOU gayS LUKA WASNT moronic

the guy has only one goal, stay in power until he kicks the bucket

man IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE for russia

How long does Luka realistically have before his own military coups and executes him?

thats not how it works, moves like this exist precisely to avoid that situation

        Anonymous

        >moves like this exist precisely to avoid that situation
Why not? He's not actually "giving" his people anything, and with Russia's ability to prop Luka up on the downswing, the question really does become why not simply kill the bastard.

          Anonymous

          >Why not?

his commanders see Ukraine eating russia alive, they dont want the west to have even the SLIGHTEST of excuses to sandwich belarus between Ukraine, Poland and the baltic states

as for why not kill the bastard, hes been in power since the fall of the USSR, the entire political system is centered around him, commander backstabinovich may attempt to kill him but he could get killed instead, maybe hes successful and takes power but the civillian administration wont listen, or something like that

          consolidation of power

Unironically over. They just gifted them a ton of equipment. And they’re giving up territory it took them months to capture even with a massive firepower advantage and lack of Ukranian equipment.

A smooth run of my fate,
Night, sadness and glitter of the soul.
Moonlight and rain of May in the skies.

      Long life of my star,
      Sleepy glitter of earthly dew,
Loud laughter and heavenly mead in the skies.

At dawn, voices are calling for me.
At dawn, voices are calling for me.

      Sunlight and heartbeat,
      Timid look and arm strength,
Time for my daydream to shine in the skies.

At dawn, voices are calling for me.
At dawn, voices are calling for me.13
At dawn, voices are calling for me.
At dawn, sky is calling for me.

    Was he right?
    >The difficulty in understanding the Russian is that we do not take cognizance of the fact that he is not a European, but an Asiatic, and therefore thinks deviously. We can no more understand a Russian than a Chinaman or a Japanese, and from what I have seen of them, I have no particular desire to understand them, except to ascertain how much lead or iron it takes to kill them. In addition to his other Asiatic characteristics, the Russian has no regard for human life and is an all out son of b***h, barbarian, and chronic drunk

      Anonymous

He was a moron. There's nothing complicated about the "asiatic mind", that was just moronic orientalism nonsense. Russians and mainland chinese were just brutalized thugs (or also two faced merchants in the latter case), while the japanese were butthurt medieval autists.

Of the three, the japs became more prosperous after their defeat in WW2, so they don't care anymore even if they're still autists, while the others still have the West living rent-free in their brains, specially Russia.

I have to admire the Russian willingness to give up ground rather than stubbornly defend it even when they know they have lost and preserve their forces. Another army would stubbornly refuse to accept to give any ground and get slaughter for that.
