What purpose could a suppressor on a pistol serve

I kind of want one because they look cool and can get very quiet but I don’t see when you would ever, realistically need it in any type of situation other than assassinating people

Suppressors on rifles are a entirely different story

        >You aren’t carry your pistol with a suppressor on it in your pants
I carry the suppressor in its own holster on my waistband. If I have time before shit goes down I'll screw it on, only takes a few seconds to do.
        >b-but that's dumb you'll never use it!!!
Yeah? You'll never use the spare mag you're carrying so why carry that?
        >b-but I don't carry a spare mag!!!
It's extremely common even if you don't. Carrying the suppressor is about as "inconvenient" as carrying a spare mag, which is hardly inconvenient.

Why pick a pistol for HD when long guns exist? There's no point in cucking yourself with a handgun when concealability isn't important.

What does what you wrote have to do with the post you're replying to? Other anon didn't say "handgun" just gun, "small tube" is referring to the suppressor you moron. You should suppress a rifle too.

That said, the best defense weapon is the one you have in your hand, and handguns are very portable. I have rifles at home too of course, but I have my hg on me more then my rifle. I can comfortably wear it all day including work then have it by my bed at night. Rifle is better if there's time, but maybe there isn't.

        >You aren’t carry your pistol with a suppressor on it in your pants
Shoulder holster + jacket actually in general, though you can hide a full size gun in your pants too with a will.

Also if you really want it's possible to get an ultra compact suppressor using wipes. Picture related (now with actual picture), ~3.5" long with threads, 1-1/8" diameter, 3.5 oz weight. Can put this on an ultra compact pistol. Wipe suppressors in general are the quietest though more pita than most want to bother with, but you can swap on a regular one for practice. And you can make your own wipes for a 1:1, though technically it's breaking the law to have spares on hand because the ATF are raging dicks.

9mm are still loud, enough to cause hearing loss if one goes off near you

suppressor reduces it by about 20-30db, from "jetplane taking off" to "jackhammer"
Still going to hurt a lot, and can still deafen you if you dont have ear pro, but a lot less so

Shooting delicious tree-chickens without getting reported by my neighbors.
Not going deaf when you get jumped without earpro.
Dramatically lowering your sound signature. A guy about 2 miles away from me to the west just bought a 10-round 9mm. I'm pretty sure it's a cucked Taurus-Beretta by the sound sig alone after he dumped two mags in his back yard. same goes for every vet and cop in a 3-4 mile radius. As far as >my< neighbor knows I have a moderately loud gas-operated BB gun.

I don’t own a pistol nor a can, but I imagine they’d make excellent pistols for shootings indoors, perfect for HD. Rifle at home defense ranges is overkill and unwieldy, requires 2 hands to use, is extremely loud, etc.

One day when I get tf out of this state I will have a MK23 with a rex silentium can on it on my nightstand

9mm handguns can easily get to 150-170dB OP. Anything >140 is instant permanent hearing damage. Doesn't mean you go deaf right off obviously but you've lost some hearing (usually starting with higher frequencies) immediately and damage is cumulative, it never heals. Obviously better than death, but still sucks.

And yeah my EDC is a Maxim 9.
