Oh I bring HAM CB radio
And my personal mobile telephone device that is engaged primarily to 1g but also has capabilities to access 2g radio
    As well as 3G service
It also reaches 4G LTE radio towers
And it can also transmit and receive 5G signal but 5G penetrates my flesh and is going to make me zombies so I have my iPhone 14 Maximum Professional turned off.

    So yeah

    I'm good with radio comms.

I also never use any of it, except offline-downloaded GPS Google maps of my local mountains when I'm lost, to conserve battery life.

I keep a mobile CB in the truck but it has a rubber duckie antenna so realistically I am only going to get at best a mile out of it and nobody monitors ch9 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      wtf

I've listened to one ham radio conversation on my baofeng uv5r and I kid you not they were old guys complaining about their health problems. Then about their nurses and conclude by "but they're black, you can't expect much of them" kek

Who are you communicating with? Really unless you're an amateur radio enthusiasts doing SOTA or similar, there's really no point. Having a radio for emergency purposes that isn't a PLB is a meme.

Quiet talkgroups are the best talkgroups. Most of the time it means everything's working fine. Sometimes it means everything's completely fricked.
