Why is Smasher so badass in the cartoon but such a jobber in the game?

The devs didn't know to probably balance against all the upgrades and various builds players would come up with.

        >all the upgrades and various builds
I ran a basic salt rifle build and shat all over him on my first playthrough. He's a bad boss fight because he's slow and easily evaded with weak scaling. CDPR knew this to some extent or they wouldn't have put adds in the fight.

The problem is some people are moronic anon. What I would support is mods that would fix him but that isn't happening soon.

not enough interaction. You see him in the heist, then the next time is back at arasake when you kill him. There was no opportunity to build him up and let him devolpe as a threat.

Because Smasher is supposed to be badass but he's balanced so poorly that by the time you fight him you've completely outscaled him

      because gameplay always trumps lore
but I guess in this case, V was the actual special one. even Johnny is proud of V because he achieved what Johnny couldn't during the arasaka raid in the end.

Bullpups with electronic triggers. Cased telescoped ammo. Aimbot scopes. Guns on gimbal rigs with the aiming done by smart goggles. More proliferation of cheap missiles for anti-infantry use (e.g the Pike). Airbursting munitions. Unmanned ground vehicles and electric vehicles

Electrically ignited bullets so all you need is a 3d printer to make the cases, the projectile and some powder

That's because it was on a bolt-action rifle, which can already have a super nice trigger. All it had going for it was a reduction in lock time, which was a massive improvement on something that did not need a massive improvement.

A bullpup semi-auto would stand to gain much more.
          >less complex trigger mechanism
          >major improvement on trigger pull
          >notable weight reduction
          >potentially infinite battery life if action can generate electricity
          >possible to further shorten the gun thanks to not needing a hammer behind the magazine
          >can have a precision rifle with an extremely long barrel and remain man portable
Bullpups are one of the few things that make sense to be electrically primed.

No they tried it as Metal Storm originally by an Aussie company back in the 2000s. They had a bunch of multi projectile launch weapons with electronic activation. Long story short they couldnt get anyone to use it due to it being massively overkill and a huge waste of ammunition. I think they folded about 10 years ago and some US company owns the IP and are working with the US Defence Department to get it more practical.

Metalstorm was moronic for a whole slew of other reasons. Electrically primed ammunition is in use right now on some autocannons like the M61. It's just the use in small arms that hasn't taken off.

                >use causeless electrically primed ammunition
                >no magazine; ammo is stacked directly inside the barrel
                >allows for obscene fire rate of like 30K RPM in a single barrel
                HOWEVER
                >every front round effectively had about 1" less barrel than the one behind it, greatly varying velocity
                >capacity was limited by how long you could afford to make the gun
                >want more than 10 rounds? Better add a whole frickin barrel
                >reloading was nowhere near as quick or simple as a traditional magazine and required an entire extra barrel(s) if you wanted to reload with any kind of speed
                >most of the guns could have their job done cheaper and better with other systems
As it turns out, arcing 100K bullets at a target a mile away in 6 seconds is pretty cool, but a mortar team achieves much greater effect any day of the week with a weapon 1 trillion times less complicated. The pistol is a cool idea, but a Glock 18 will fill the role of a handgun and a PDW much better. The 3 round grenade launcher design was cool, but that's why the M32 exists.
