What is the tactical advantage of going innawoods with an e-scooter? They make decent offroad ones now like Bakcou (top speed 25mph) and it seems less gay than a bicycle. Just scootin and shootin.

Bicycles makes you sit down like a cuck, on these you stand and can sling a rifle like normal, then you just hit the brakes skrrrrrrt and pop pop pop.

Nobody looks cool on a scooter. You just look like an oversized kid who can't afford a car, or like you're too afraid of getting off the footpath to use a bicycle.

As for off-road performance, bigger diameter wheels = better, always. They can roll over rocks and ditches more easily. A scooter like in OP would be horrible for actual off-roading compared to an e-bike.

If you going so slow that you can jump off and not eat dirt, you should be walking. If you're expecting contact while transporting, there's a vehicle for that, called an APC. Getting ambushed while on a bike or a scooter is going have a high likelihood of you dying before you can ready a rifle.

Do you have a real world use for an offroad e-scooter? If you do then it's probably not in a warzone and nobody is shooting at you. Therefore the e-bike is the safer, "superior" choice because you're less likely to die from face planting off a tree branch.

"Fun" is a perfectly valid reason to want an e-scooter. But when "tactical" gets involved it brings up a lot of competition. If you have friends a buggy is the better choice. When solo, a quad bike would be the most tactical choice because of its high carry capacity, stability and the fact that you can bring up a rifle without getting off it. Real world SF used quadbikes in the early days of the Afghan invasion. They would drive them up mountains to get lasing positions for airstrikes. They're proper all terrain vehicles. The combustion engine ones have long range and aren't even very loud.

Yeah but we don't really have access to their milspec quiet diesel quads or dirtbikes. Dirtbikes can be heard from far away. There was a small dirtbike with fat tires that was low powered and made for going through thick terrain and logs which I forgot it's name.. R-something. The scooter reminds me of an electric version of that. I'm mostly looking at silent conveyances for nighttime larping.

                >we don't really have access to their milspec quiet diesel quads or dirtbikes
That's actually not true. Extra quiet mufflers that the military puts on ATVs are publicly available. They're bought by park rangers and shit. Cost around $160. You can also get an electric quad if you want to be super quiet.

                >silent conveyances for nighttime larping.
Considering how night vision restricts your field of view to the point of making walking over rocks a challenge, it would probably be very dangerous to use it while riding a scooter offroad. I'd want something with the stability of a car for that.

The ones I've seen hit by arty were in stationary positions that drones could spot and call in, with the kill chain lasting many minutes. Others that were walking had an armed drone that would follow and wait for an opportunity before attacking with a dropped mortar. By the way, if Russian soldiers are seen walking, it's because they're patrolling an area to guard it or search for contacts. That's something you don't want to rush into. For actual transport to a location they will use trucks, APCs and stolen cars.

Still not silent. An atv brings up size and weight constraints on transporting it, whereas a bike can be put on most car racks. An atv you can't exactly engage in 'stalking' with the same efficiency, you are higher up above the ground and literally a sitting target.

      Anonymous

      >An atv brings up size and weight constraints on transporting it, whereas a bike can be put on most car racks
Now you're driving your car to a location over a paved road. That defeats the point. An ATV can also do that.

      >An atv you can't exactly engage in 'stalking'
You can't stalk anything but a deaf and blind person when in a vehicle. In military operations where shooting is expected, unarmored transportation is meant to get infantry to a point where they will dismount and continue on foot. Stalking a human is done by staying low, far away and in cover. The aforementioned Afghanistan JTAC missions, where the object was to climb a mountain and use it for recon/target designation, are the ones where you stay with your vehicle all the way.

      >you are higher up above the ground
A person seated on a quadbike is lower profile than a man standing bolt upright on a scooter.

      >20-30km range
This, I use them around here because there are share e-scooters you hire with an app and I don't have a bike.
They can barely get me to the big shopping centre a few suburbs away and usually won't have enough charge to get me back.

Plus, if I cut through a park, they're really rough on unseal surfaces and hellish on cobblestones. They couldn't do gravel at all.

And of course, you'd need a solar base-station to charge the thing.

A regular MTB is really the way to go for innawoods dicking around, if you want more practical long-range transport, get a touring version of a CX. Something like the Surley Trucker series.
      >>>/n/ wll have a thread for the right bike for off-road camping but they're going to give you the same answer.

The tactical advantage is you aren't fatigued when you get to your destination. The disadvantages outweigh that pretty heavily. One being recharging and having to push it unless you want to ditch it.
Bicycle is the way to go. The wheel diameter on scooters is useless for off road, and unsuitable on fire roads.

You can carry it in back pack, charge for 30 mins at any home/store/building with electricity

You can travel 20 miles per ride (walking @ 4 mph would take 5 hours)

Notorious for cutting out at higher speeds, or for no reason at all, and either smashing your collarbone, your shoulder, your elbow or your wrist or any combination of them. And for the shitty business practices of the manufacturer, with literal booby traps designed into the control board that brick the board if you try to repair anything yourself, like intentionally switched polarity of the red/black battery cables for instance.

I own a V10F and a V11 and have well over 10.000 miles on them combined and have never faceplanted, despite being well over the maximum weight limit of either of them (120kg). But they are only good for for asphalt and hard packed dirt roads. Deep mud or gravel, loose sand, ice or deeply rutted roads are admittedly almost impossible terrain for them. In addition it takes some talent and quite some time to get good on them.
