Lend Lease arrived before Lend Lease was even signed by congress. Check how much aid was sent even before 1942. Most of it was food sent to keep commies from starving even further. Trucks unfucked the logistics and don't even tell me supplying more than half their fuel (even though they have oil lmao) wasn't helpful.

Not just that, the amount of food the Soviets received was pretty much like a third or a fourth of their entire wartime consumption, and this was after they lost their breadbasket in the Ukraine.

Between that and the fuel, the US essentially kept the USSR from starving to death enmasse, and/or running out of fuel and getting fucked. On top of that, they supplied over a third of the USSR's locomotives and railroad equipment. Between that and trucks, they basically enabled Bagration, Uranus, and every other Soviet counterattack.

Amusingly, them micromanaging the Soviets' logistics for them, might have actually set up the failure we see today, as the Soviets never learned to manage logistics or treat it like a big deal. After all, it worked out for them in the GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR, right? Clearly their system works just fine. No need to think about it too hard.

Although there are mentions of it there are very few records of the actual numbers since most contemporary studies focus on lend-lease and the aid that was shipped starting from the ratification of Lend Lease. If those numbers were ever added, you'd find it would be significantly more than that.

my entire point is this is not true. the paltry amount of lend lease from 41-early 42 was not enough to win or lose anything. now how many more years it would of taken and how much harder it would of been on russia is a different conversation but there was no saving germany from inevitable loss after the russian counteroffensive from moscow. and even if you dont believe that there was no coming back from getting destroyed from urANUS later that year

                This is chilling.

                1. Wrong about the year

                2. Wrongly believing percentages without context could possibly tell a full story. For example:

99% of all trucks soviets used to move anything was Studebaker, which was superior to piece of shit Soviets produced. USA given Soviets million of winter clothes so they don't freeze innwinter like Russias currently are, millions of tones of canned food so soldiers don't die from hunger, ALL soviet high octane fuel, thousands of locomotives and even helped building Soviet factories

                3. Ignoring the fact that EVEN IF PERCENTAGES TOLD THE FULL STORY, just knowing aid is coming allowed the USSR to more freely burn through their existing supplies

yeah. Saving their diseased asses was the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century. Should have let the germans do their thing and focused all of that material on supplying own troops to then mop up the germans from at least western euro.

No vatnik union means no Maos gang managing to overpower the nationalist china (taiwan) which also means no best korea. North Vietnam would have been pure insurgency and maybe the vietnam war would have never even taken place with direct burger involvement since the main thesis behind it was the domino theory. No maoist china also means no Khmer Rouge slaughterhouse in cambodia that killed almost a third of its population in four short years. Disgraced marxist in general mean a lot less retardation in western societies like woketards.

There are more direct happenings that would have completely or at least partially changed with the destruction of the USSR and the german Reich, even if it managed to take the USSR place in east euro, would have never managed to cause so much misery on the global scale due to inherent low value ideological attraction. Unlike the marxist fairy tale that lures in simpleton retards with promises of a nice fairy tale world that is just beyond the next mountain of skulls.

Eh, it was extremely significant but US analysts have a more nuanced view that it actually hastened Germany's defeat rather than saving the USSR.
The thinking is that Lend Lease didn't save Moscow and Russia would just have taken much much longer to field a new offensive army while holding Germany at Stalingrad or something.

The estimate is that the war would have lasted maybe 3-4 years longer and a LOT more Soviets would have died.

              Anonymous

I don't think that in a "No lend lease" scenario, that the USSR is exterminated, but it's entirely possible that they become a wholly TransUral polity and that Germany can consolidate their holdings in the East, especially if they can negotiate in the West. Eventually Germany will have to strip the east bare enough that the USSR might be able to break back into the Russian heartland, but a diminished USSR (and, importantly, a USSR alienated enough that the West doesn't send aid) changes the diplomatic landscape in the West, and a negotiated peace in the west in 42 or 43 before the USSR can dislodge the Germans would be the stake in the heart of the USSR as a European power.

Obviously a lot has to change for this to be possible.

                Anonymous

There was no peace to be negotiated with the allies, they were clear on an unconditional surrender. Anything else would just delay and let Germany rebuild and Hitler had broken every treaty and agreement he had made.

Putin has... interesting ideas about what defines strength. Back in the mid 2010s when news was going around about how Israel's president had raped a bunch of women, Putin's immediate response was to compliment him for his "strength".
            >"He turned out to be a strong man, raped 10 women," the Russian president was quoted by Russian media as saying at a meeting in Moscow with Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert. "I never would have expected it of him. He has surprised us all, we all envy him!"

Meanwhile, in a Western army you can guarantee that a 4 star who's spent his entire adulthood in uniform with a nickname like General moron Toes would wipe half the globe while making sure his troops had ice cream ships on schedule the entire war.

Honestly I think he’s being used as a fall guy here, the loss of Kherson + no Russian wins since is too big of a deal. Also they’re running low on rockets, they’ve gone from every day to every other day to now once every 10 days. Terror bombing with rockets didn’t work and they don’t have the stockpiles to keep on doing it forever.

They really thought that the Ukrainians would break in a week but all they’ve done now is nearly exhaust their stockpiles for a lot of missile types.

Firing the commanders you enter a war with once you work out who can hack it and who can't appears to be a fairly standard and necessary thing looking at WW2. So…a little confused over the mobik thing. When the "partial" mobilization was announced people were reporting talk of one week of training as being good enough…but are they actually giving them a lot more?

Anyway, will it really matter? Over the last several months it seemed like Russians wasn’t even trying to fight on the frontline. Separatists are doing all the actual fighting whilst Russia spams artillery. So, when the Ukes built up a critical mass and went on that broad offensive — the Russians didn’t fight, they packed up and left their positions even dumping lots of vehicles. If the separatists can’t hold them back the Russians won’t step up, they run. Russian military now seems like it’s defeated as real fighting force. Probably close to open insurrection due to horrible morale, low-quality minority peasants, etc. The regime is struggling on the solution. Giving the mobiks more training seems like a desperate attempt to try and fix this broken army. Guys in the regime are trying to cover their asses by blaming the lack of training. Probably.

      Anonymous

      >but are they actually giving them a lot more?
Some mobiks were sent from their gathering points straight into the trenches. Some were left behind to get training. It looks like over past weeks they've been deploying the leftover mobiks. To give some space in the system for new mobiks and to finally start using those.

      Anonymous

It doesn't matter if the training is a week or a month, what matters is that the quality of the training is total dogshit. Endless stories of firing a bare handful of rounds at a range if they're lucky and maybe digging a few holes.
      >Russian military now seems like it’s defeated as real fighting force. Probably close to open insurrection due to horrible morale, low-quality minority peasants, etc
Yes to the former, maybe to the latter. They're fucked as a football bat but you should never understimate the willingness of russians to die like sheep without raising a bleat of protest. But their morale is totally in the toilet especially after the New Year HIMARS strike and I can see a future where more russian goodwill gestures degenerate into full blown routs out of Ukraine.

Are we back to having no theatre commander or has Russia given up on all other theatres?

        Anonymous

Anon I'm not sure if you've noticed but in order to have theatre commanders you need...multiple theatres.
The russians have lost the Kharkiv and Kiev theatres, as well as the Kherson theatre. Their only offensive command is occurring in a region that has been (and remains) stuck in deadlock for 9 years. The only reason why they can't pull back willingly is because as soon as Mariupol goes back to Ukraine, supply to Crimea becomes a literal nightmare since their bridge remains deader than bionicle.
They've literally painted themselves into the worst corner you can be stuck in in a "operational" sense. Their missile reserve was dedicated to bombing civilian targets for months now when the correct move (which could've been executed at ANY TIME) was to attack Soledar to threaten the position (a factor that even fucking Perun, a bean counter from Australia, pointed out).
By every measure the smartest move on the Russian side at this point would be to figure out the best way to pull out of Crimea. The front, as it currently stands, is simply not sustainable - if decreased artillery shelling is due to availability (as opposed to Russia shifting away from offensive operations), the decreased availability of artillery simply means that Ukrainians will get to pick any target along a massively long line and cut off supplies to Crimea at any point, after which a repeat of the Kherson offensive can be conducted.
