If you mean "tanks that have been updated every eight years and is THE newest fleet on the planet" then yes

Well the US, China and India are large populous nations so it makes sense they would have a big military and therefor many tanks.
Europe as a whole have plenty of tanks but they are split between a bunch of small nations so the map isn't lighting up.
The Muslim countries are always trying or threatening to kill each so they of course want lots of tanks.
South America and Africa are mix of peaceful and / or poor so if they don't have to buy a lot of tanks they won't and if they do they can't afford em... Toyota is of course there to pick up the slack.

Every country other than the US on that image Tanks are old pieces of scrap they keep in non ideal conditions and would most likely not be fit for combat.
MAYBE with the exception of China, but I'm guessing that's just Russian shit in a body kit from what I read here.

All of those countries have significant chunks of their "tank force" made up of obsolete tanks or ones in poor condition
the US is a huge outlier even in NATO countries for keeping all of its stuff wrapped up in a desert boneyard and not rusting away

Where there are M60s, there are M48s. US sold their surplus M48A5 by a shitload to numerous countries.

They have about 350 Leopard II's making up their modern tank corps but since they are in a bit of a cold war with Turkey they haven't retired their old tanks. So they have about 1,000 Leopard 1's, M48(105mm)'s and M60's. Turkey is in a similar position, a few hundred Leopard II's and a bunch of old shit.

        Anonymous

Most of turkeys M60's have been modernised both locally (the TM variant) and internationally (Sabra Mk III).

Greece also has 100 active M60A3 TTS's but the bulk of their tank force is the Leopard 1A4/5 which is a lot older than the M60TM's or Sabra Mk III's.

But none of this fricking matters as evident by the ru-ua war

I don't know if it is true but I read that greece is upgrading their 2a6, 2a4 to 2a7+ and their 1a5, while scraping their m48 and m60 tanks. I really wanna see what kind of upgades the 1a5s will get. I really hope to see some sort of upgraded version of the 1a6.

      There mostly T-55s and T-62s

Cuba is run by the mentally disabled , it would only really take one group of American Paratroopers and they'd be fricked beyond any realistic ability to defend themselves.

What was it ? Saddam had the third or fourth largest military in the world , how did that go again in Kuwait ??

Decades of sanctions along with mostly just shit T-62 Tanks it wouldn't take much to kill every single communist on the island...

and no , they would not be able to properly conceive Micktard or SandBlack person style insurgency when literally everyone despises the government and lives in fear of the regime..
I've spoken with Iraqi ffs many fear and hate the new regime along with Saddam gtfo with that shit

israel has ~1300 if you count old upgraded merkava 3s, probably sub 400 if you only count 4Ms

didnt russians lose way over that?

russias confirmed (by oryx anyway) to have lost a bit over 1k, ukraine says over 2k, id guess in reality its probably 1500-1600 ish

        Anonymous

i'd wager most of their tank losses are from corruption. for every tank blown up in ukraine there's atleast 3 that were reported as working by some officer pocketing maintenance money and when said tanks suddenly had to report to the front they all 'stopped working'.

what's going on with Morocco and Argelia?

      Anonymous

They were some of the biggest buyers of the post-USSR firesale of equipment into Africa. They bought pretty much everything available.

it's basically just countries with territorial disputes
      and the US

Partly that. Tanks are pretty cheap as far as military spending goes, and require far less technical ability to operate vs a jet fighter or destroyer. Plus they look cool in parades (even the North Korean tin toys look cool). And you have to remember that for a despotism or dictatorship that is the most important thing--looking big and scary so the peasants don't get uppity, and to intimidate neighbors. You can put a tank on a street to Tianenmen people. You can't have done that with jet fighters (if you could even afford them).

Hence, poor countries overwhelmingly choose the "tractor with a gun bolted on" vehicle as opposed to the one that requires radical changes in doctrine like "consistent flight hours" or "regular maintenance of high-performance parts" or "spending money". Even Assad was able to get some borderline conscripts to use tanks as simple artillery guns... albeit they were often operated alone in an urban environment so that sucked for them.

If you see a country with a crap ton of tanks, it's either a country that simply has a massive military and proportionally large force (US, China, USSR), is trying to intimidate its own populace (China, many others really but China is the most infamous example), or its neighbors but can't consistently afford or operate something like jets or destroyers or submarines w/ballistic missiles that could actually rapidly strike its neighbors (North Korea, Cuba, Iran).

For one F35 and its pilot you can afford probably a whole platoon of M1 Abrams + gunners and crew.

Morocco actually uses western armor. They have like a mixture of like 400 M1 Abrams/M60 tanks.
