Depends entirely on the target, your equipment, caliber used and your skill. In German sniper school we were taught that engaging moving targets in combat out to 300 m with the 300 WinMag is okay, further out it becomes difficult even for experienced snipers and engagements beyond 600 m should be the absolute exception. This with just your G22 and no help/input from spotters. I always found 300m to be challenging. 600 m and more usually needed spotters who tell you exactly where to hold. We were shooting targets the size of a head. Bigger targets would obviously allow for more room of error, but were usually frowned upon.
Checked dubs of german quality (best quality) autism and appreciate the comment. However you entirely misunderstood my question.
What is the longest distance (YOU) ever made a hit. Be it hunting, plinking, military or whatever. No matter if first or consecutive shot, just the farthest out you made a connection.
Burgers are sleeping, so this thread may die prematurely.
1200 m was the furthest I have ever shot with a confirmed hit at a static target plate. 300 WinMag, G22, had a spotter correcting and an S&B at 20x magnification with tremor 3 reticle.
Longest shot was 900m on steel plate with a CZ 600 in .308, but my most impressive shot was ~700m in strong wind on a kangaroo at full speed through brush.
I've only ever been to 100 yard ranges.
I've shot 1moa groups at 100 yards.
Closest 200+ yard range that I'm aware of is 2 hours away. >4 hours driving to shoot at 200 yards
I'd rather just use a ballistics calculator and make assumptions.
1,400 yards without an opportunity to try further. Target was IPSC steel silhouette. That was with a couple corrections. Furthest I've ever hit something first shot, cold bore was 1,100 yards.
Man-sized target at 1100m with a barrett .50 cal shooting whatever load the army issues out for it. We had a range day and our scouts were out doing some sniper shit and let a few of us sling some rounds. It was pretty cool.
400 yards , 2 moa plate. Was easy with a ballistic calc, managed to get a first round hit.
Really wish I had access to longer ranges here. I know 400 is a chip shot for most guys.
with a 300wm shooting hand loaded 220s I hit 1500 yards with a savage 110 tactical at this range in western co. with this ar15 using 223 I've hit the 900 yard plate here.
Rifle? 653 yards sitting with a .300 Win Mag in a windy ass valley on a big ass mule deer, misjudged and hit high, clipping the spine and just paralyzing the poor thing until I finished it off with a Glock 20.
Pistol?
Aforementioned Glock 20 at 300ish yards on a gallon jug of "orange drink" with 180gr Hornady HAP handloads while standing. Took about 3 shots to hit it.
~800m but that was with the help of a trained sniper as a spotter. They let me shoot with them a bit at a range I was giving coverage for. It was cool. Really they did all the work haha
500 yards, with a tricked-out AR with a light trigger and a huge scope, and the owner coaching me at a shooting range. Target was a clay pigeon on the 500-yard berm. I had three shots, missed one, nicked it with the second, broke it with the third.
Which was the experience that really opened my eyes to what the AR-15 can do.
If you're using light waves in a perfect vacuum then you have an infinite range. If we're talking about your penis and semen, you're looking at about 2 inches.

Sorry, didn’t read your question correctly.

The furthest I have ever hit a target was at 1200 yards with a M1A, which was a steel plate about the size of a head
The furthest moving target was at about 500-550ish, which was a trotting deer

300m bird on top of a tree.
That's a huge fricking bird.
400m, SVD with PSO-1, near Popasna, UA (UAF)
smoking kills
In 2016, I should clarify. Standard ammunition out of a beat to shit barrel.
What are you up to now? Still in Ukraine?
Retired. Running a duck habitat/rehabilitation facility in the western hemisphere.
Captcha: gmash
static steel plate at 600m, i don't remember the size of the plate. i did it with a friend's mk12 clone and decided to make my own after that.

600yds with a 14.5, swiss m855, and a ta31. Hard to get much place to attempt a longer shot in MI.

400 yards. I haven’t shot further than that.

595 yards with a 5.56 20" AR on a coyote inna dessert. Dropped him well enough
Under pressure, 21 kilometers, technically it would be a 39.0 caliber.
I have a 100 meter range near me so that's the most I can do. I could go hunting for longer range shots but I don't like hunting.
