What is the current Meta in the AR community

7 years ago i moved to Australia for a high paying job offer i couldn't refuse. Not being able to pursue my favourite hobby, forced into being a noguns fag, and living in a nanny state with shit all freedom really took a toll on me and went against most of my principles. However now I have a shit load dollaridoos and am moving back to the greatest country in the world and need to know what i've missed out on since i left.

Are Aimpoint and Eotech still the benchmark for red dots or have other companies caught up?
Which LPVOs are the best? they weren't really a thing up until the past few years. Is a 1.93 or 2.26 mount actually better than a lower 1/3rd co witness for a red dot if i'm not using Nods? For the AK guys are Zenitco or Zenitco style furniture readily available to civvies? i would love to finally have a modular modern AK.

this was my build circa 2016
BCM 14.5 upper
Aero Precision lower
Aimpoint T2

if you wanna go fast a higher mount is good for getting on target more quickly but if you're just plinking at distance at the outdoor range lower 1/3 is better. pick your poison

    What's that G3-looking upper? PTR91? It's a shame the handguard doesn't properly match

I can't remember the name but its an extremely rare swiss handguard. It is a ptr 91 but i replaced the lower with a legitimate HK g3 metal lower and trigger group that was also incredibly expensive and hard to acquire

B&T HK G3 Handguard? You can get it easily. They sell it in the B&T Flagship store, on bt-parts, rksplus and TacStore

Oh and HKParts sells it, too. It's currently in stock

    >Aimpoint and Eotech
basically yes, other great options exist but you'll be called a poor by someone who wants to validate their purchase by making you buy the same thing.

    >Which LPVO
oh man that's a fuckin' question.

    >Is 1.93 or 2.26 better than lower 1/3
Depends a lot on your physiology and if you're going to use nightvision.

    >Zenitco
Midwest Industries has an "Alpha" version of AK furniture that's probably better than what you can find elsewhere

    >your rifle
Basically fine still. Although I think a lot of people could recommend a magnifier to couple with that T2 since you're 14.5in and have a bit extra velocity/range capability

      Anonymous

thx for the actual info. i have cross eye dominance and like to shoot with both eyes open so i avoid magnifiers in general

        Anonymous

that's fair, although it may be worth learning depending on what you intend to use that rifle for. Remember magnification has a lot to do with positive-ID of a target. And keep in mind your target is likely not a sheet of white paper but a person who has a lot of interest in you NOT shooting them lmao

at this point in time the best advice for you is get ammo and training. Also how's your cardio?

That AR was my cqb clean house rifle. Took many classes with it including a lot of room clearing. i'm a tac-fag. Trained with SWAT, marines, rangers between deployments, you name it i've trained with. would practice dry firing, quick draws, speed and tac reloads at home as well. I have a decent sized arsenal unfortunately i lost my phone with most of the pictures of my arsenal I used to take when i would post on /k/ before i moved to australia. Also had an 18 inch Noveske RECCE/SPR build with Nightforce 1-8. Had a DD mk18 with an eotech and pistol brace as sbr's were illegal in my state. I always kept at least 2000 rounds of 9mm and .45 for my handguns (M&P 9, CZ-75, and CZ-97) and 5000 rounds of 5.56 and .308 for my three AR's, Scar 17 with an Elcan 1.5-6 and my PTR91/G3 clone)
My cardios great brother ive been doing muay thai since is was 15 im now 30. I gym 5 days a week and used to do hikes with fully kitted with ar500 plates in and full ruck with my bug out bag.

Unless you were making like 500k-1 million USD a year after taxes I don't understand why the money would be worth it.

holy shit you are fucking smooth brined. You would need to be payed over half a million dollars a year to not play with your adult toys you autistic nagger? as much as i love guns thats all they really are except for the 1% chance you might actually need to use it in self defence. Its not like i moved to fucking africa or india. australia is just a less cringe UK with some really funny down to earth alcoholics. it was mainly the fact that it was a nanny state and has laws and regulations for every godamn little thing that i had a problem with. i was making around $250k AUD before taxes and another $60k a year off a side hustle that i didn't pay taxes for if you catch my drift.

How much are you actually bringing home with you?

enough to buy a nice 3-4 bedroom house in Austin cash, a nice car, and all the guns i could want. plus enough savings to not work for a decade and still be able to pay my bills and afford food and vacations etc.

about 1.7 mil in my checking account and just below $800k in my savings. I lived well below my means while living in aus, my monthly cost for rent, bills, food was under $2,000 a month and i had a great accountant that help me find loopholes and ways to write almost everything as tax write off
