They've been stress tested pretty extensively and a favorite model for mass shooters. No other manufacturers can claim that they have caused the most deaths in mass shootings.
Yes 100% worth it. All parts are top notch. Chrome lined c158 bcg that is hp/mp tested, cold hammer forged and chrome lined barrel that can shoot sub moa with good ammo. Just buy the upper alone and build your own lower with a good trigger though
BCM also has all those things, and there are better barrels, all for less money. If you're going to be spending that much money on an AR, you might as well go KAC, HK, or JP, but you should only consider HK if you have a stamp. Fuck LMT I got no time for those overweight cocksuckers.
I don’t recall DD emailing their customers to keep the rate of fire to 8 rounds per minute because they had a fucked up barrel. Everyone knows DD has the most accurate CL barrels, it’s literally not even a debate anymore. But yes, you could get close-to similar rifle for less if you wanted to. But why when you can buy a DD?
DD upper: $1,000
CM4 lower: $100
Lpk: $100
Mbt2s: $99
T2 buffer system: $120
>Less than a complete DD and a better end product than most. But honestly if you have to ask, you should probably grab a chf PSA Sabre and spend the rest on an optic and some ammo.
Frogmen here , bought mine 2,7k euroshekels, for 3k you can have an hk mr223 (416).
But im more a DI guy + spare parts availability.
Some things are crazy more expensive some but their are a few things that are also quite cheaper.
Anyway it breddy gud
Here in frogland (before uki war),a russian kalashnikov ak was 1k euro and a kalashnikov usa ak was 2k euro.
Now russian ak becam unobtanium and zastavas and polish ak went from 0.9k to 1.5k.
Russian ak s will comme back, just have to wait for the war to end or find one on the used market.

What makes DD barrels so great? Better metallurgy? Do they forge themselves? I get they QC better than companies like PSA, but I thought a lot of companies cross pollinate with barrel manufacturers. I can't imagine that the metallurgy between BCM and DD is really so different unless they source manufacturers of vastly different quality.
>KAC
SR-15 has proprietary bolt, gas block/tube, and barrel. Rail is standard but a pain in the dick to install. The barrel uses a nice lightweight profile and is cold hammer forged and chrome lined. The bolt lugs are oversized and rounded, which makes them basically invulnerable to shearing. The extractor is modified to provide more tension and has two springs to power it. The lowers are out of stock perpetually but are mostly ambidextrous, they're just missing a bolt hold open on the right side.
LMT has a monolithic upper that is heavy as fuck and necessitates a proprietary barrel, their gas blocks are also proprietary. Bolts can either be standard or the LMT enhanced, which has a scallop cut out of the lugs which helps prevent shearing. Uses the same style of modified extractor as the KAC. Lowers are fully ambidextrous. Barrels are chrome lined and available in a variety of profiles. Doesn't offer CHF barrels.
DD is fully standard, except their RIS III complete rifles which have a fully ambidextrous lower. Barrels are generally government profile or lightweight. The Block II upper sold by brownells has a SOCOM profile barrel. Very high quality control and makes everything they can in house. Probably the most accurate CHF barrels you can get in an AR-15, and while standard pattern with none of the improvements KAC or LMT offer, their bolts are known for having a higher than average lifespan.
>should I just buy an upper from (one of) them and slap it on a PSA lower?
Yes. Get the DD block II upper from brownells, a microbest BCG, whatever charging handle you like, and a Surefire 3 prong flash hider.
>What is so good about Daniel Defense.
It costs a lot.
That's pretty much to it. Price something high enough and put fancy markings on it and you'll activate primal instinct in a lot of people to get them to throw their coin at you.
This I bought a custom 22lr barrel from Jarvis inc for $200. It’s an 18 inch bull barrel and high quality stainless steel. It shoots .25 moa (according to the spec sheet but it’s more accurate than I am). There no reason a complete upper using the same materials and workmanship (Jarvis makes high quality barrels) should cost 5 times as much just because it’s bored to a larger caliber. Price is what you pay. Value is what you get

BMC better barrels my ass. Shoot anywhere close to 15 rnds per minute, boof a bore scope and get back to me.
they're worth about 1.6k,yes, anything over is just a little silly
feels good not being able to see light between the lower and upper

thats brutal, I got my first DDM4V7 years ago for 1.3k.

we have cheap quality ARs, laughs
Russos laugh because they have cheap quality AKs
Everyone else gets bent.

I remember when they had more models and were only $1200. I should have gotten the M4V5 back in the day and I would have been set for life.

What it seems to come down to, to me anyway, is two major steps for barrels.
1. Manufacturer
2. QC at the distributor (DD, BCM, etc.)
>What makes DD barrels so great?
Better QC.
>Do they forge themselves?
Yes.
DD, LMT, KAC
what are the differences between the three?
should I just buy an upper from (one of) them and slap it on a PSA lower?
