Ban state morons gonna pay. Some dude on here got a few for $250 when Wal-Mart was liquidating their assault weapons. There's deals to be had if you look used but I wouldn't pay more than $600 for a modern one, less for a 180 series.

They'll need everyone to forget the 2019 shooting and kneejerk reaction, so in a few years maybe. It also depends on the store manager. Sometimes they can sell things that Walmart normally doesn't carry like when people b***hed at Hornady for selling ammo through Walmart even though Hornady never actually did business with Walmart directly.
It has happened before like when Dicks stopped selling semi autos in 2012 and quietly reintroduced them only to then ban them again after Vegas.

Some states have a special deer season for straight-cased rifle cartridges like 45-70, and 350 Legend was partly designed to qualify for this.

I agree with this. Not to mention it's cheaper despite not having 5.56 as a parent and shoots the most based projectile diameter. I'd be embarrassed to shoot .300 BLACKED at this point.

300 blk is objectively better than 350 legend.
350 legend uses shitty pistol bullets, nearly all loadings are light for caliber, having shit sectional density, 300 blk has a much wider range of bullets, can be reloaded with 5.56 brass, .308 cal bullets are much more common than .357, and again, all .357 are pistol bullets.
Not only that 300 blk has already won, as much as 350 legend gays and winchester shills want to whine, 300 blk has and will outsell 350 legend.
The only exception is if you want to be hunting legal, in 1 of a handful of shitty states, and you want to hunt with an AR, and for some moronic reason you aren't using 450 bushmaster.

                Anonymous

                >.357 is all pistol bullets
Real hardcore guys will swage a .35 Whelen bullet to .356, which puts in more comfortably in line with the actual bore diameters that are coming from the factory (the SAAMI spec ranges from .355-.357). A swaging die is like $20, and the bullets are 0.358 by default.

You'll also find that handgun bullets are actually designed to expand properly subsonic, so they're probably a better choice anyway if you actually wanted to do something other than make noise on steel from 10 feet away. Imagine shoving a 200+ gr .308 match bullet into a subsonic .300 load and pretending you're doing something practical, lol.

Mechanic here, and salvage titles don't matter if the repairs are done right. I built my most recent truck from three wrecks and did many for a used car lot. (CarFax means nothing if the title donor is clean, inspect what you buy!)

FLOOD vehicles are best avoided except as organ donors but modern vehicles are easy to total if you sneeze at them because parts and especially paint cost at retail. They're often easy to fix depending on where hit, especially trucks.

I keep a basic b***h AR for trade bait because boomstick make Bubba blind with lust. Do ye likewise and score. My bro traded one for a Suburban that needed little work and made out like a bandit.

Ruger is operating off of the assumption that they can charge m1a prices because some coke-ridden business executive thinks everyone is willing to overpay for everything. They'll keep up the full moron pricing until people stop buying, which given how fricking stupid the average consumer is now might be a few months after total economic collapse. For the price they want for what is universally recognized to be a shitty gun, you could just get a ban-state compliant Fightlite SCR lower and put together an upper with extremely high quality parts. You'll get a lighter, more accurate gun that looks just as refined.

It's well known that minis aren't especially accurate, light, or reliable. They're good enough for most people, but to change a > $1000 price is laughable. Ruger doesn't offer a sub-moa guarantee out of the factory while numerous AR manufacturers that come in at a lower price point do. The mini is a 2 moa gun on a good day, at least that was the case in the past.

Accuracy and weight I can understand, but how are they unreliable?

            Anonymous

I don't mean to say that they're terrible, they just are lacking relative to the competition given the price tag. No chrome lining on non-stainless barrels, for instance, might compromise longevity in a rough environment. Plus any issues relating to fouling, dust, and mud that a mostly-sealed action like the AR doesn't have as much of an issue with. It suffers from the drawbacks of the platform, not because it's especially poorly made. It's good enough for a lot of things, and for people that find it cool, it's a fun gun to have.

Dunno about the new basic b***h Ranch models, but that was once the case back in the day. Back in the early 2000’s though they halted production for a bit and revamped the entire thing when King Fudd passed on with the 580 series, and for my stainless at least the barrel is fine. Really the only major problem left with the Mini mags aside is the fact it uses the Garand action, which is inherently more inaccurate to what AR’s are using. But tldr older Mini’s are hot garbage, newer 580 series Mini’s aren’t that bad but still have quirks to them that anything with that action also has.
                t. have a Mini and an AR before a transvestite calls me a shill or something else moronic

Unless you are target shooting from a bench, 2MOA is better than 95% of gun owners will ever be.

I think many hunters are capable of 1-2 MOA from the field using a bipod. Errors also stack, so it's always better to have a more accurate gun even if you are shooting from an inaccurate position. If the gun shoots 2 moa and the shooter shoots 2 moa, the combination would likely shoot around 3 moa. That could make a world of difference in some contexts, like varmint hunting.

I've got one that I bought twenty years ago for $350. I wouldn't pay a nickel more for it today. It's better than nothing, but it really is a piece of shit. 3 MOA before the thin, whippy barrel overheats, then it's 4-5 MOA. It's heavy, and the trigger sucks. Also not a fan of the proprietary magazines and the way they have to be maneuvered into position toe-and-heel fashion.

They were thinking California Compliant. Ruger is the #1 rifle brand in California and California is the largest rifle market in the world by volume. The Mini-14 is what the CA DOJ considers "intrinsically safe" in it's out-of-the-box, stock OEM configuration. No bullshitting with grip fins, letters of compliance, or paying the dealer an extra $250 to put a compliant grip on.

To that point, an AR-15 is about $2,000 in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles right now. Note that San Francisco has entirely banned all gun sales, so the process of actually buying a rifle is a huge pain in the ass as most local hunting stores that bother to sell firearms stopped selling repeating mag-fed autoloaders due to Black folk buying them and killing people. Additionally, Ruger is on good terms with dealers and the CA DOJ, so they have better shipping rates and parts/accessories availability. If you were to look at a map of lawfully available firearms radiating out from Oakland or South SF, a Mini-14 is a 45 min drive vs a 2-3 hour drive. That adds at least $200 to the value just for convenience factor.

(yes, you can pickup online sales at FFLs but local FFLs are not nice about it, have weird hours, and again compliance issues that might cost money to resolve)

The $1,500 is more than what a comparable boltgun costs but still less than an AR. So, it's perfect for people who want a box-fed autoloading rifle. The price matches the demand as there's only ~3 other non-AR new production compliant autoloading box-fed rifles I can think of.

Daily reminder that Ruger are actual gods of casting, and the only reason *any* mini-14's work is because they're a high end company that makes other products, any knock-off mini-14's would be two-handed grenades instead of just shitty guns.

Probably because of Ukraine, supply chain issues, and 'cause of blue states afraid of AR-15s. When are they gonna come out with a STANAG model?

For all we know they may be making thousands of them for Ukraine.

    A basic b***h $400 PSA AR15 is unironically a better buy than a mini 14.

    Bruh

They're like $1000-$1200 post-COVID. Price has gone up on them though since I bought my stainless steel Mini-14 ranch in California for $850 back in 2018

You could probably buy a budget PSA AR that would shoot circles around the Mini-14 and have plenty of money left over for ammo or training. I guess if you live in a ban state they have their purpose but other than that they are relic.

I would love to see PSA make their own mini14 clone and undercut Ruger. Anything to give the finger to ban state regulations and companies that overcharge is a win in my book.

PSA should clone the SCR upper and spec a rifle legally equivalent to the Mini-14 but functionally better in every way.

they are 1000 dollar guns usually in store. Ruger MSRP is notoriously high. The MSRP for the sp101 is almost 1k and they are easily found for 500.

there are also alot of prison surplus mini14s floating around. mine was 600 a few years ago. they tend to crop up in batches. beurea of prisons still have alot of mini14's, shot guns and revolvers to sell off.

Where would I look for those? I'd want a mini 14 but not for how much more they are than an ar-15.
