    morons built tanks instead.

What they should do is put Gruppe B engines in these cars and tune them with additional turbos and Nitrogen injection to outrun drones. Just imagine how based and effective this would be, but we are ruled by moronic homosexuals, so we will keep sending 4 man teams in armored coffins into drone range.

He's right tho, generals was a huge step down in game mechanics and general playability, much less impressive than RA2 and I loathed generals when it first came out as a die hard c&c fan, it was the beginning of the end.

It's total zoomer slop, it's why you see this modern resurgence, kids getting nostalgic.

We used to rent out a school hall and sell tickets to LAN events. The tickets basically covered the rental costs and the price of hubs and switches and cables we needed. We made virtually no money out of it, but every month we averaged between 100-150 attendances.

g36 is a noob homosexual gun, i love shitting on and flaming people who use it who cant hit things 3 feet in front of their face even though it's the most broken gun in the entire game

        Anonymous

I remember people shitting on players who used that gun, I used to play scrims and tournaments with my clan where unlocks weren't allowed as a rule, so I exclusively played with stock weapons when I played classes we used in official matches and pracs. Most of the stock weapons were better or equivalent than the unlocks anyway. AK-101 was the best rifle in the game by far, M24 was just as good as the M95 and L96, RPK-74 was better than the PKM and the G36-lmg etc.

          Anonymous

m24 is absolutely not better than the l96. they have the exact same stats but the l96 reloads slightly faster and has thinner crosshairs, making shooting easier.

In a tournament environment you played medic 65% of the time, AT 20% of the time, engie 10% of the time (in armor) so niche classes like sniper were hardly ever used.

            >RPK-74 was better than the PKM
            Didn't care, PKM absolutely fricks.

            >Didn't care, PKM absolutely fricks.
I agree, and I used PKM when playing anybody but MEC since we generally didn't play support in official matches for reasons as described above. The main issue with the LMGs were their inaccuracy, the RPK basically had rifle accuracy with an LMG magazine, you could burstfire with it while standing, no prone needed. As good as the PKM was it couldn't do that, and neither could any of the other lmgs.

Overall, MEC had the best stock assault and medic guns, best stock engie gun and best stock support gun.
USA for AT and spec ops, china 2nd best assault and medic.

USMC had the best overall vehicles excluding fighter planes, which went to the J-10 which had a bugged hitbox which was only fixed in the very last official patch for the game. The chinese APC had the best gun but was xbox hueg, the MEC apc had the worst gun and it was awkwardly placed and too low, the USMC apc was just right. The abrams had the biggest front weakspot (turret shot trap) but hitting it was difficult and it came with the advantage that you could aim much higher than the MEC and China tanks so you had an easier time countering helis and planes.

                >J10
Frick that thing. I mastered jump seating in the attack helos because camera guided missiles was the only reliable way to kill the fricking things

                Anonymous

The ability to reliably take out the average J-10 pilot was used as a benchmark whether or not you had "made it" as an airplane pubstomper in Bf2, that hitbox was beyond broken while the F-35s was massive. Though I usually got more kills in the F-35 because the J-10 had this awkward bomb pattern which meant they landed too far apart, while the F-35s pattern was just right to nail a tank with direct hits, and the blast would take out anything smaller.

                Anonymous

I sucked in planes but even with tunguskas or the carrier phalanx those frickers were near impossible to hit. You could always bet on ten free kills waiting for the J10 to spawn so there's that at least.

                Anonymous

Yeah, the missiles would explode when hitting the plane but would do very little damage, it's like the hitbox was inside the model somehow with only a little piece of it actually being susceptible to damage. The preferred way in the F-35 was to attack him from above first with the cannon, then switch on and of to missiles to make him dump flares, then launch missiles when you were at a medium distance and straight from behind. Wouldn't always work though, so you often ended up dumping all your missiles and then finishing him with the cannon.

Is it? It may still be in inventory, but Ive never seen one in use any time after ~2004. Seems like any circumstance they would be used, Polaris ATVs get used instead. Could be a similar circumstance to that M26 shotgun, where theyre still in armorys and people train on them but nobody deploys with them because benellis are better.

I think its a case of, being militarized sandrails, you really only need them when ripping across the desert and there hasn't been a lot of that for 20 years. they just use helis to get around because a lot of the terrain they've been in hasn't had too much SAM activity.
Compare this with Ukraine where buggies are all over the place because SAMs are behind every other tree and bush.

there might also be something to more compact ATVs fitting more onto one chinook which makes them attractive for long range deployment.

I got to ride into "combat" in one at a big airsoft game once, actually the same DPV that had been in the movie "Three Kings." The owner/driver was a one-armed absolute madman and we drove straight up a street swarming with enemies and magdumped everything, we all "died" but "killed" like 10 people each first. Shit was fun as frick.

now that the dust has settled can we all agree that POE2 was the best mod?

No, Nations at War was easily the best. Fixed a lot of the movement and shooting oddities, nice graphic upgrades and added fricking everything, up to and including functioning nuke-tipped Tomahawks.

    >BF2
Whatever, are the servers still live?

    >CnC
TD and RA1 are absolutely terrible lmao, impressed me back then as a kid, but I played the remaster recently and I couldn't believe how awkward the game is to actually play. RA2/TS were IMO better RTS games than Generals, but Generals was more "fun" in its asymmetric design and had cooler individual features like those rappeling Rangers, veteran pilots that would bail out and then re-enter vehicles, or spamming mobs and the whole unit upgrading system as the GLA. The campaign was unmatched too at least until World in Conflict came out.

      Through BF2Hub, yes.

Very early CnC was the era where RTS games were still kinda figuring out how they worked, Westwood did a lot of cool experimental stuff but didn't really have the pieces fitting together perfectly.

I think Generals was a little more competent from a design perspective. There are definitely some units that are better than others, but RA2 had some truly quirky unit balancing and it's always felt like you were handicapping yourself by not just spamming tanks. It's just that Generals is stuck with early 3d RTS jank while RA2 is in the same boat as AOE2 where it's the pinnacle of 2D RTS development.
I also don't like what they did to planes in RA2. LARPing as an airbase commander in RA1 or TibSun was fun and you really don't get anything like that in RA2.

I'll forever regret not playing BF2 in its heyday. I don't even know why I didn't, I was a huge BF1942 fan and played a ton, including various mods (especially Desert Combat), but I dropped the series after BF:Vietnam and didn't get back into it until 4. I did have a normie life for a while with a GF who b***hed at me for playing vidya so that accounts for part of that gap but not all of it.

It was truly fantastic. It could be very frustrating at times when you were being shat on by the other team, but that was kind of the beauty of it as well. No handholding, no rubberbanding. If you got destroyed, well good luck next round. It also made victory that much sweeter. A tank would absolutely maul infantry and light vehicles, but if you managed to take him out it felt so goddamn good. Same if you smacked a tank round into a chopper or a plane, the sweet nectar of accomplishment easily weighed up for all the times you got swatted from the sky. And eventually you got good enough to where you got those victories more and more often, and then you really started having fun. I miss that game so fricking much.

I used to love just being the commander and crouching in a bush outside the base watching the map. Giving orders to the squads and providing proper support based on the intel being supplied back from the ground.

I still joyfully remember the angry tears I accumulated from playing commander on servers where base attack was allowed, and just repeatedly dumping artillery on the USMC carrier. There was always an offset, it wouldn't land exactly where you set the icon and it was slightly different on each map, but I had most of them memorized. On Dalian Plant in particular I even knew how long it would take for the shells to arrive (around 15 seconds, roughly same as spawn time) so if I noticed that a particularly skilled USMC chopper pair or F-35 pilot had been shot down, I would count down from 25, set the artillery and it would usually nail them while they were standing on the deck waiting for their vehicle to respawn.

Karkand was my absolute favorite map.

            >UAV looks like Paris Hiltons crotch after shaving
            >squad leader screaming BROKEN ARROW
            >arty comes in killing burger and derka all
