how does it get the bullets from the mag to the chamber which is a bull cartridge length behind the magazine?

good god what an overly complicated design.

It has an in-universe reason. Shit was made personally for one guy for as much stopping power as humanly possible in a small frame.

            Anonymous

So why is the frame inexplicably thick/large in so many areas? The front of the gun is needlessly large. Since there's no compensator on it it seems like the ammo could be loaded a lot hotter. Not to mention the bore axis is unusually high for a gun that's meant to be super powerful.

              Anonymous

The gun was designed for Johnny Silverhand, he wanted a tailor made gun with the biggest bullets you can fit but the downside is that no human can use it, only augmented ones, hence why he can only shoot that gun with his mechanical arm.

The gun is so large because the explosive bullets can also be used for a controlled detonation that burns targets at melee range, kinda to prevent burning. Everything else is just fiction, like how this particular gun wasn't made in a furnace on earth, it was made in orbit for perfection in its creation by eliminating gravity.

                >it was made in orbit for perfection in its creation by eliminating gravity.
Reeks of artist/writer but there's hyper autistic arguments for microgravity manufacturing of metals like production of bulk metal glass in microgravity environments.

            >As much stopping power as physically possible
            >Muh break your wrist recoil
It would always be inferior in per-shot stopping power to a revolver/mag foreword design built with equivalent technology around a larger cartridge, or to a single shot pistol if you really want to maximize single shot potential.

He could just carry a fucking stand alone grenade launcher for that matter.

                >that trigger to grip width ratio
It seems that the recoil isn't the only reason it can only be fired with a cyber-arm, you need your cyber-hand's palm to extend just to grip the damn thing. Probably still have room to grip with your other hand too.
Definitely fires a large-ass bullet, that has to be larger than a Deagle's grip. Much larger.

props to the animator for actually trying to make it work in sorta a legit way

          It is mechanically absolutely legit.

          >mag feeds to the rear
          >extractor pulls round rearward until it clears the feed ramp
          >shotgun-esque elevator brings the round up
          >bolt closes
          >a motor (battery in the grip) rotates locking lugs

This removes the barrel length reduction that comes with mag-forward-of-grip pistols while still allowing for the massive cartridge it feeds without making the grip massive or reducing ammo capacity to nearly nothing. It's designed to defeat the normal limitations of shoving a fuckhuge round into a semi-auto handgun. It does this by being hilariously overcomplicated and impractical for mass production, but that's fully acknowledged.

            >Magazine forward rather than magazine in grip Bond Arms Bullpup like design the pistol.
Something like it could be made irl with a lot of gunsmithing autism for the sake of a one off but the motorized locking system is stupid. Making it gas operated + rotary lug (but not on the bolt but a rotary ring around the chamber) sort of like a Desert Eagle on too much PCP would probably be saner.

This thing would have off by one safety issues like m1897s. I wonder how many times ol' Johnny ND'ed thinking it was empty.

Huh? Not only do 1897s have one of the most open actions of any shotgun, but they literally have a dump everything in the tube buttons on either side of the receiver. I find it hard to believe anyone could mistake if it was loaded or not that new how to operate the gun.

          >Listen Samurai, NDs are a normal and healthy part of gun ownership. If you're obsessively checking your gun to make sure it's not loaded, you're creating mental blocks that will get you splattered across the concrete when you come up against some corpo gun who doesn't give a shit who or what he blasts.

Artist must have wanted to make a Bond Arms type pistol, he just needed to make it chamber as a detail and it vaguely could conceptually work. That or they're using some real cyberpunk tech there with casings that act like disposable single shot chambers to never be ever reloaded unless you want to Glocknade.

I personally love the idea of a "mag outside of grip" pistol that doesn't suffer from OAL-to-BBL issues like every other gun of its type does. The cartridge makes sense. The mechanism is a good concept, and it looks cool. Not much else you could ask for.

The back looks like some striker fired pistol. Would that be a springfield xd or a S&W? The top sights somewhat remind me of my B&T mk2. I assume the mag is located there because of the size of the cartridge. The slide operating like that reminds me of a Mateba moreso than a desert eagle. The grip reminds me of the cyberpunk grip that one anon makes. Ultimately anon, I think this pistol is mostly made up and inspired from real world guns, but it looks neat. Fun game, too.
Although I wonder what caliber would it be. 30 carbine? 50 ae?

    >hello yes we are going to gate a bunch of weapons and the ability to upgrade your iconics so you can keep using them behind one specific attribute and if you don't take that attribute (that's otherwise pretty shit) then you don't get to use those weapons
Every time I play the fucking game this shit vexes me. I really hope Phantom Liberty's skill tree redesign moves crafting out of the character system so it's no longer gated by build.

A lot of my favourite weapons are either crafted-only or acquired at an early stage in the game (and then they have shit stats unless you upgrade them as you level up, but upgrading costs more and more resources until you pretty much can't afford it - the only way to keep up level-wise is rarity upgrades, which make them re-scale to your current level, but that requires a Tech build).
