Unironically yes, but they have to deal with the fact that they're Indians.

Domestic military industry stimulates your own economy and for everything you spend you get some back in the form of taxes. You can tailor the equipment to better meet your own requirements. You don't have to rely on a foreign power for replacement parts and maintenance. There is some measure of national pride in making your own arms.

What exactly is the point of small countries like the South Korea creating their own defense companies to design equipment instead of just importing weapons from elsewhere?

      Checked.
I'm not a cheerleader of Korea or Koreans, but there's nothing wrong at all with them developing their own military technologies and exporting them. They have a competent base of manufacturing and engineering with a population of about 50 million.
If you followed your opinion, countries like Sweden, Austria, Italy etc. should have no arms industries. That would be moronic as they do make good stuff.

so the krauts can't deny you spare parts if you decide to do something they don't like, also keeping the technology base afloat.

Where's is this "Kingdom of Jordan" located at? Sounds like a third country shithole who named themselves after legendary God of Basketball Michael Jordan.

Developing the local tech sector and getting some public buy-in for military spending. How is that not obvious?
