Yeah, pretty much. If I find trash I'll pocket it and toss it later, but something like this I'd probably just leave. Should have ignored it, OP. At most maybe rolled your eyes at the idiots who are dumb enough to leave things on trails, and then continue on with your hike.

Smash it with a rock. Bad karma to take it, but I don't want anyone undeserving to take it either.

Is it possible to smash a diamond with a rock?

        Anonymous

surprisingly yes. you can crush/shatter them with a rock, just not scratch or carve them

They also turn into graphite if heated, or CO2 if heated with oxygen.

        Yes, they're quite fragile
Hardness just means it'll scratch something if you rub it on something
        Brittleness is a separate thing
That's why diamonds are used for drill bits, cutting blades, etc and not for hammers

I don't think it's bad karma, even if she returned to find it she probably wouldn't be able to. And there's no way to send it to them because there's no name/address.

I'd take it and I'd thank the universe for this strange turn of events before getting it valued.

If it's a popular trail see if it has a FB page/group and make a post for a found ring, don't give details about it and see if anybody posts a pic of it or gives a description and then you can rest easy knowing you did something to help return it to it's owner.

Latest valuable I found was gold israeliteelry, the owner hugged me intensely twice for returning it and near broke into tears.
It was like magic, I picked up a hand of brown pine needles at random then suddenly (huh that's a weird needle what's this) holding a gold piece with gems.
She would've probably kissed me too if she was tall enough when returning it.
That was 100 fold worth more than the money it'd have fetched.

These anons give me hope for the future. Thank you.

dude, just stop. This is getting really cringy. You're the only one ITT that cares about this troony bullshit, so it might as well be you who's the troony. What does your closet smell like from the inside? How long are you in denial already? Just admit it, you're a troony yourself. You'll feel better when you come out anon, just go to /lgbt/, they will support you

I'm just bored of it, honestly. You can't go anywhere without people being cringy edgelords either for or against this issue. I don't care. I'm normal, leave me alone.

I found a ring like that in a parking lot, brought it to the lost and found at the store I found it and made a facebook post about it, no one claimed it in 30 days so they gave it back to me and I pawned it for a few hundred bucks.

The frick? Call the cops? What the hell goes through that npc brain of yours? If nobody saw you take it, it's yours to keep. You get the fricking federales involved and they'll just keep the ring themselves. You have to lie, cheat and steal to get by in this world and you aren't even willing to take something that someone lost

you give it back to the forest or throw it in the trash. personally i would stick it on a tree branch nice and snug. as long as it not fake plastic crap im ok with the tree wearing it and the ring eventually being enveloped by the wood over time get stuck.
