So what all these anons said about using it like a ghetto red dot is right. Technically it's not Bindon aiming, but occluded eye aiming that you do. The TA31 chevron is very thick and bright so it works decently well.
TA31s didn't have them issued that I ever saw. The TA01s have backup irons on top but those were much rarer to see floating around.
You can just look over it, when room clearing and with the amount of MOUT training you get, you can easily just approxomate and hit ypur target in a small space.
This too. I mean, point shooting is still in the rifle shooting manual after all.
this. youd kinda just know where you were hitting was high cause the irons were on top of the fuckin thing. it did work though.

the elcan specter also had built in irons
we need to go back
No TA01 sights on the TA31F nor TA31RCO
him before
I should note though that I still put a red dot piggybacked on it because the image that I get isn't really perfect and it's a lot more awkward for my brain to do the extra work in a "I need target acquisition now" situation than just lifting my head an inch.
Works better with a front cap closed
Why do no armies buy the cooler ACOGs with the green or amber reticules?
I have the LED green horseshoe and I'm happy with it. Just turn it off and use the black in those settings. This is why I don't like the fiber optic. Un illuminated black works fine when green doesn't.
Having a red dot further ahead is cool beans

Is there a name for that color palette? Surely, it existed before Nintendo

A 20inch front post sight cleared the ACOG's tritim fiber and could be used as an caveman eotech >actual war on terror Chad who got lost and ended up winning a 1v12
>BAC as described by the inventor
It is to keep track of your target and have vision on the reticle and then only when you will shoot, switch focus and you'll be on target.
That shit don't work in close quarters engagement
I am left eye dominant and right handed. I can basically shoot right handed and look through my ACOG with both eyes open and my brain processes the image as the illuminated crosshair over whatever my left eye is seeing. It functionally serves as a 1x vision in a pinch.

RMR weren’t a thing yet. Some high speed guys had early DR sights/Jpoints depending on the era. A guy got a medal of honor using a acog with DR optic. The footprint is still around today and is used by cheaper optics usually. The block 2 sopmod package brought top dots into wider use. Big army/ marines were not issued them in mass ever until the 416 was adopted by the marines. A lot of marines brought there own optics that were approved. It was generally unit per unit what was allowed. You can use a 4x optic in cqb it’s just not ideal.
Honestly ACOGs still arent even issued en mass in regular Army combat brigades. 90% of the time you will had a CCO and unit armorer will give you one of the few Acogs they have if youre cool with them. Either way, you werent clearing rooms looking down your optic or sights like a fuckin mook. In close quarters you can literally tell where you are about to shoot and just light it up.
>get on Mi-17, see co-pilot with training manual> >start up engines but sounds like when your lawn mower won’t kick over> >crew chief orders everybody off. >remove bench seat and jump start>
the 'cooler' ones are unfortunately worse. the TA31 is the best acog because its a true jack of all trades, which is what a prism sight SHOULD be, as soon as you start trying to specialize it, it loses what makes it desireable.
Use BAC, look down the barrel because you are probably already short stocking your giant m16a4, or chicken wing fire because it's night time and you are using your peq2 in conjunction with your 14d/7b's since the night time is the right time. If you want a cogged out 20 make sure the stock is collapsible and get a top mounted red dot. I have the mount and will snag a holosun with an rmr base soon. The LED TA02 models are probably the best, they allow for forward mounting of a top mount dot optic which is the ideal position for use with helmet mounted night vision for passive shooting.

assuming you mean its pretty bright out- hit his normal cheek weld and keep both eyes open, not gonna miss in a house. alternatively use visible laser/light if theyre zeroed properly. most planned door kicking is done at night so he is using IR or visible laser/flood.
We were taught to keep both eyes open and shoot from close distances with it. It never felt distracting or limiting, as long as you were at the proper eye relief distance, which for an acog I think is around an inch and a half, so really close. I've had my own ACOG for about ten years now, and I still use it the same way.
It's not some super secret squirrel technique. Just keep both eyes open and practice with it.
Back then they came with iron sights

it works even if the front lens cap is off, so the occlusion isn't necessary.

You can just point shoot at "inside a house" distances.

Why does PrepHole seethe everytime they see this dude?
Mostly just because one dude that thinks he did nothing wrong posts about it all the time
just something about what he did comes across to me as really rude so I don't like him
who is this
That's Phüc Lông

Shouldnt have triggered his ancestral hunting instincts
Nasty Gurl gotta do what they gotta do no matter watter nation
He said soldier not airman
In fallujah muttrines would use their FSP as sort of a reference
ACOGs have special feature called BAC that makes them act like a red dot sight.
>special feature
How can it be special if it works for every other magnified optic?
it doesn't.

You just hold the gun up and eyeball it

Rotate gun 45 degrees and point the barrel at the thing you want to shoot at.

Aren't Acogs designed so that the target doesn't get blurry at close range?
Think it has more to do with your eye balls
That’s why sighting systems are mounted upon an adjustable platform.
The phrase you’re looking for is ‘eye relief’.
assuming you mean its pretty bright out- hit his normal cheek weld and keep both eyes open, not gonna miss in a house. alternatively use visible laser/light if theyre zeroed properly. most planned door kicking is done at night so he is using IR or visible laser/flood.
you dont really need to fucking aim when you are just taking the browns out of town.
I ain't no soldier but I would assume inside a house, you'd just burt a spurt in the general direction, aka point shoot.
