You either get rid of the artillery or you don't cross the river.

He just had his eardrums exploded, so he probably feels like someone shoved a sledgehammer into his sinus cavity. That sort of open mouthed fish gasp is a fairly automatic response to try to relieve what feels like an insane amount of pressure in your skull.

I enjoy dunking on the Russians as much as the next guy but won't the Ukrainians have the same problem if they successfully push the Russians out of Kherson?

      Anonymous

Yes, but Ukraine also has better range and accuracy for fire support. Easier to set up a bridge head if you blow everything up trying to intercept it

No, because they can advance south from Zaporizhzhia.

they'll just cross the river to the north, and walk from there to the south? the russian forces are effectively stranded there on an island: surrounded by the enemy on the front, surrounded with the river in the rear

it proves the worth of having as much of your army amphibious as possible. I'm surprised by how non-amphibious the Russians are, huge weakness

      Anonymous

They're not capable of complex air operations with the air force, which is an even more basic pre-requesite than amphibious ops. Russia "should" have had air superiority in the first week given the size of their air force. If they could SEAD then these bridges wouldn't be an issue

Whoosh. Missed the most important take away from this war. This is why people think you guys are stupid. (Don’t feel too bad, the guy whose responsibility it is to tell everyone has been screaming about it since 1992 and nobody listened to him)

most of their shit is designed to be amphibious
Unfortunately for them it was designed to be amphibious by Russians

        Anonymous

The problem is that it was maintained by Russians, not necessarily that they designed it.

You can make a breaktrough force amphibious, but supply trucks won't work like that.
Plus you could traverse smaller rivers, but there's no fricking way you'll be swiming something like Dnipro on a fricking APC, especially if it is contested.

        Anonymous

dnipro's are rare though, small creeks are common. someone should design amphibious supply trucks too

You typically would an Air Assualt, Airborne drop, or Air Superiority to neutralize the artillery then cross the bridge, but I'm guessing your friend doesn't have any of that?

  11. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Use Airborne ISR, Counter Battery Radar, Recon units with amphibious vehicles to locate the enemy artillery, then use your own artillery and air assets to suppress enemy fire on the crossing, then cross in force and secure a large enough perimeter around the bridgehead that the enemy can no longer put accurate fire on it.

  12. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Bomb the enemy artillery with his modern attack aircraft and drones. He does have air superiority, doesn’t he? It be pretty stupid for your friend to get into a situation where he doesn’t have air superiority.

You need to make some strong accelerant fuel, it's the only way to actually get across fast enough.
Keep in mind, this is a well guarded NATO secret, it's how they got their jets to go fast enough to overwhelm the Iraqi forces in the onset of Desert Storm.
What you need to do is mix it 50-50 with whatever fuel source you intend to use it on, any will do.
To make it, you'll first need 1 part ammonia and one part bleach, then, in an airtight room, mix the two.
You cannot use any protective gear though, to tell if the solution is properly mixed you'll need to be able to smell it.
Then once the room starts to smell like alcohol, pour it into the fuel you wish to use it on, then use said fuel.
I wont be able to respond to any further questions, I need to reposition, the CIA has no doubt already deployed killsquads to get rid of me as I type this.

    Arent BMPs and BTRs amphibious?
as for the tanks...idk.... get a bigger snorkel lmao

It takes time to prep them for amphibious crossings, and I remember hearing that a lot of the Russian BMP's and shit have too many after-market modifications to still retain their amphibious capabilities. By this point, even if they tried to cross the river amphibiously, all it takes is to wait until a certain amount get on the opposite side and barrage the shit out of those guys & the ones crossing.

Seriously, artillery is just that strong. It always has been. The only counter to artillery up to the past 100 years was other artillery, and now aircraft. But since Russia failed to neutralize the Ukrainian air defense, let alone the air force AND the Ukrainian artillery outranges the Russian ones, they have no way to target them.

You make fake poontooning in one spot to attract enemy fire, and in another couple of locations you set up a poontoon, at night, that is about 30cm below water level.

Back in the day it worked

Use paddle boats, have arty/tanks bombard the other side, if there isn't enough oars use your rifles to paddle, if you get scared as you say Hail Mary full of Grace and don't stop till you cross.

You wait until the enemy has drunk themselves to sleep on Christmas Eve then you embark in stealthy paddleboats at the most dangerous and unlikely point of crossing.
