What are these fricking things even good for? Don't they eat dicks coming out of a shotgun shell? I don't understand the novelty.

Interesting concept that just doesn't work very well at any scale outside of artillery shelling.
Okay jackasses, once more with feeling.
Shotgun Flechettes were originally designed to be held in a kind of frame or honeycomb like Sabot, or packed with an inert lightweight material to keep them straight. This was expensive, but they worked. The reason they weren't adopted is because it's kind of pointless in a military context to have a shotgun that fires a bit further and sometimes penetrates light body armor, at fifty times the cost, when you have rifles that do everything it does better.
The Flechettes you've seen tested online are just rammed in an emptied out birdshot shell, they even pack some in backwards to "fill" the shell so they don't rattle around so much, like morons. Obviously they come out all over the place and achieve basically dick, exactly like how Saboted slugs work in shotguns but if you took the fricking sabot out the round wouldn't accomplish shit.
Okay, neat. Where would one find these flechette sabots at? This is the first Ive heard of it, I'd like to see some for myself.
>highly expensive, carefully constructed flechette shells
There is no price too high to be able to produce close quarters casualties that make people start thinking of phrases like "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity" and "you're like hitler, but even hitler cared about germany"
Didn't people say the same thing about explosive bullets, backwards bullets, and shooting marbles out of your musket?
You can still get shells that are basically buck and ball, sabot slug with three to five 00 buck pellets behind it
>or at least you used to, been a while since I bought some
I wonder if the plastic beads used to fill the space around some buckshot would help
>shotgun fletchette sabots
sounds neat but would be a cast iron b***h to manufacture in any scale at a decent price i'd imagine. some sort of wadding that discards after leaving the barrel consistently just doesn't sound feasible on such a small round.
Make paper mache out of egg cartons, put it in a shell, stick the flechettes in there and load it in properly once its dry. This should be easy enough even at scale
>tons of cheap as shit surp flechettes on the market
>hey lets load them in shotshells and sell them to idiots for megabucks just like Dragon's Breath
When there's a tacital need for the quick construction of a wood frame house at distance
Ukrainians used them to slaughter Bucha residents and then blamed it on the russians.
frick off moron
Is moron even the right word for fetal alcohol syndrome kids?
I dont blame you tbh, you're only ever told that the "good guys" are beyond reproach, so you lack the perspective to know when you're being lied to. Maybe you'll understand better when you're older, peace out.
>I have no way of proving what I say but believe me bro
>just trust me you'll learn eventually
Yes, please never fricking come back, but I know that won't happen. You literally cannot stop spewing shit from your mouth.
volley fire
Those particular ones are awesome out of a shotgun. Pretty much every 'review' you see saying they don't work glosses over the fact that they are not using real flechetts, just some jury rigged nails.
Largely a novelty. Flechette cartridges were developed in the 60s in an attempt to improve the likelihood that troops would hit their targets in jungle fighting, but it just didn't really work out.
A neat idea which worked on paper, but didn't work with the actual technology of the 1960s-70s period; and it became a meme boomers fell for.
Is there even a proper load data for flechettes? Seems like it's just shoving all you can in a shotshell and expect the fins to reorient the backwards ones.
Talk about sectional density.
No, I'll leave it to people who know what they're talking about. I am quite stupid.
I've heard stories of vc nailed to trees.
Looks good for hunting vampires.
Now we're talking
There are flechette hydras for the apache that function like a canister round, they seem to work pretty good. Seems like something that doesn't scale down very well though.
We need to go bigger
I wanna see this in a vid, tested on Russians in Ukraine.
Same, but I want to see it tested on ukraine civilians lol
I believe there was also main-gun rounds on some battlships which got made into beehive rounds for AA jobs, burst at a certain height and shit sharp high speed metal over a wide area of the sky
The boomer lore is these were really effective for killing snipers hidden in the jungle from long distances. How or why anyone would believe this can only be explained by ignorance on multiple levels, to the point where you'd have to literally not know what a flechette shotgun load looks like.
the army artillery in vietnam had flechete ammo
they preferred an old fashioned timed round that was set to detonate in the air about 50 yards away
>some moron thinks it will help in Nam
>completely ineffective over regular buckshot
>shit scam ads ran for them in the back of magazines for decades
>internet comes along
>fascination with random wierd shotshells increases
>flechettes come back around somewhat
They're meant to be dropped out of a plane or air bursting artillery shell. When you shoot them out of a shotgun they tumble randomly and don't have time to stabilize.
Small arms flechettes suck ass. The SPIW or whatever program also had them in rifles but they were easily deflected by foliage due to being so light, this might be fuddlore on the other hand im drinking. IIRC the science is sound in that a flechette gets great sectional density which is why tanks shoot them, but its not practical in rifles or shotguns
