      It breaks optics instead.
      >its light
I'll grant that-being light is easy when your upper is a $50 extrusion and your lower is a $5 piece of polymer. It can't be over 9 lbs loaded which is pretty good for a 7.62x51.

It's why the majority of SF guys that run it use a LPVO with a sturdy as frick mount.
I like the scar but that's such a fricking dumb lie as it was even brought up during initial socom trials lmfao.

Eotech was selling defective sights until they were sued and had to fix it.

Eotech had a reputation as being reliable back then. So any blame that should have been assigned to the Eotech fell on the SCAR instead.

            Anonymous

throwing a gun in mud or leaving it frozen in an ice cube overnight isn't a realistic reliability test, thats more of a torture test.

I remember watching a video of some random youtuber doing the same test and it functioned fine. However, the difference between their rifles was the trigger, so maybe stock triggers don't freeze up? I'd test it to but I live in the south where we don't get much snow

Relative to what? If you're coming from AKs like Kenya did then its a direct upgrade in all areas, lighter, more accurate, more modular. If you're coming from Sopmod M4s like Socom was, the difference isn't enough to matter and its largely not worth the investment.

      Anonymous

the scar is not an upgrade from an AK it is made of plastic and will most like crack the receiver when you drop it but AKMs can handle getting run over by a truck or tank

This. Plastic crap is only acceptable on bullpups since they're already meme guns trying to maximize balance and weight. Making a rifle with a plastic lower and a plastic hinge for the buttstock is peak stupid.

          Anonymous

SCAR would still be able to fire with that hinge broken. You are running a sling right? You can use that to tension against your body for stability to minimize sway and recoil as best possible with the stock going floppy
Also that is uncommon to happen in the first place
Are Glocks, USPs, PX4s, M&P 2.0s, CZ P-10s, etc all shit because they use polymer frames?

            >Are Glocks, USPs, PX4s, M&P 2.0s, CZ P-10s, etc all shit because they use polymer frames?
Unironically yes although it's less likely for a plastic pistol to snap in two since they don't have giant hinges on them. If your Fisher-Price gun breaks in half, and your only remedy is "use a sling" rather than repair it, then it's shit. If the stock on my AK breaks, then I just go out and buy another one for $50 or less.

viper glass is pure shit. Razor's are fine, PST's are ok. I'm not knocking Vortex, just that piece of shit optic. And if you think shit tier glass is ok, you buy guns to take photos of them.

If you’re standardizing on 7.62 NATO like a chad, then you get nice modern ergonomics and it’s quite easy to swap barrels for shorter ones, convert it to 5.56 or 7.62x39 and so on. And having a nice light battle rifle like a SCAR is arguably a great service rigle optipn if your country’s terrain has long or mixed sightlines.

  15. 3 weeks ago

The scar-H has always had terrible barrel harmonics. After about 8000 rounds you completely shift zero, and soon after the barrel needs to be replaced.

The SCAR Heavy has a receiver life of 100,000 rounds. Barrel life is 25,000 on full-auto.
The SCAR Heavy went 48,000 rounds without a failure and with only a 6% loss in velocity.

i've used the scar-H its far better then the M4's or M16A4's that includes refits and repairs.

its unfair to compete agains high rate of fire rifles but its good for long and medium range.
and does the job real well.

the only drawback is the lack of replacement parts which is why most models are still based on the old unreliable M16A2's
the Shar-H is best suited for commando's and paratroopers
which is what it was desgined for anyway.
tnhat said its the better rifle and master of the medium range rifle.
ploymers will never be as good as printed steel but they are not as heavy and if your carrying it all day its the better one of the pack.

not sure about newer rifles so i can't comment.
i'm old hat. i haven't known or seen anything newer then 2001 on my island so i can't comment.
