what are good AR manufacturers/brands to stay away from? is a $500 AR guaranteed to be dogshit? how much do i have to spend to expect something solid?

what is your definition of "solid"? and what do you want the gun for? just putting holes in paper off the bench, running HSLD carbine courses, long range, mulitgun?
NTA but I need to kill 20-50 feral hogs per month to take their tails for bounties so I can eat them and buy more guns
I am broke AF and it's kill or be killed in the brush anon fucking help me I can spend 800ish maybe max
If you are legit going for that many hogs, I'd get something a little on the nicer side. If you are going to go the $500 route, get a PSA.
Yeah, I am hesitant to skimp but have no fiscal liberty atm. .556 HPBT should put them down fast enough and I have played with enough relative's PSAs to know I probably won't end up DEAD IN THE STREETS, but idk
Thanks for your thoughts anon
Get a $500 PSA AR. Tolerances are lower than on better guns but good enough for hog work. Spend the rest on an optic, ammo, and something to clean the rifle with. Or buy a cheap $300 backup pistol for in case you suffer a serious malfunction and need to put down a charging hog.
Don't listen to the anon that says they'll rust or bend or whatever, just oil it and clean it and it'll shoot thousands of rounds no problem. Any gun will fall apart if you don't maintain it.
can you just climb a tree before shooting it? (can boar climb?)
boars can knock down trees
buy a PSA, one of the nicer ones with a freefloated handguard
The people I know who've bought rugers and PSAs have given no complaints. PSAs have some qc issues but just shoot it until you know if you have a lemon or not, and if you do, they have a good warranty.
real LVL1 questing shit
PSA and maybe some of that 77gr ammo they make under AAC
>so I can eat them
Sorry anon, wild hog meat tastes fucking awful unless you feed them corn only for several weeks first.
There’s a method to prepare them, I don’t eat older hogs but the little ones can be good if you bloodlet and field dress them immediately.
>what are good AR manufacturers
Anything $1200+
>brands to stay away from?
Anything $-800 . ARs are rifle, and rifles are machines. More expensive, better the machine. There's no secret or lie, more you spend, the better your rifle will be. No one is trying to fool you or play tricks on you, better rifles cost more.
>is a $500 AR guaranteed to be dogshit?
It'll be bad but it'll work for a while. It will rust, break, bend and kill itself, but if you won't know if you never shoot it.
> how much do i have to spend to expect something solid?
$800 gets you a solid, basic AR rifle. I wouldn't bother spending less.
>More expensive, better the machine
while I mostly agree with you, some expensive brands like BRO are utter dogshit with some nice looking furniture.
>King of the Poors
PSA. it'll usually work and do the job but odds are that parts will wear out faster than with the below brands
>brands that get it right for a reasonable price of 1k-1200 include, in no particular order
BCM
Sons of Liberty Gun Works- Patrol and Simple Jack
Sionics- Patrol 3
Munition Works- JOE carbine
Colt- 6920
possibly the FN Guardian? I need to look into that model more before I give it a solid recommendation
>higher end but not outrageous
Daniel Defense
FN TAC series
LMT
BCM, SOLGW, and Munition Works get an honorable mention because they have higher end lines
>"Gucci is too poor for me" brands
KAC
Hodge
HK if you consider that an AR-15 instead of a hybrid 15/18
>BLM
what was the verdict? it's rare for a BCM to malfunction like that.
full auto is an entirely different beast to semi auto. it introduces a mess of new variables that affect reliability and even good machine guns jam pretty regularly.
this may be bolt bounce or a gas problem that's only evident when the gun consistently hits its cyclic rate
Said they replaced the recoil spring and buffer
?t=640
Considering that the cyclic rate sounds like 1000 RPM, what
mentioned about BCG bounce might be the case. Gas ports dilate with erosion and quality carriers have the best "three bore" seal, which is how 60-year-old AR-15's remain well gassed
?t=43
Does something like the Springfield Saint seem like a shitty rifle I should just sell? Couldn't afford the LMT or DD at the time. I've learned so much since then... But now I'm stuck with all my cheap beginner rifles. And I don't know whether to keep them or not.
You could sell me your raifu anon
South coast USA ?
>AR manufacturers/brands to stay away from
If you had issues with a Delton, Diamondback DPMS, ATI, BCA, PSA, or Ruger, we would struggle to hold back laughter
>is a $500 AR guaranteed to be dogsh
With an M&P®15 SPORT II and a Sightmark reflex, Kyle Rittenhouse survived a crowd of race rioters, but still resorted to striking the forward assist and point shooting. Would he have been fine otherwise? You be the judge
>how much do i have to spend to expect something solid?
In the before times, it would have been $1,000. Today, the price is $1,300
>but still resorted to striking the forward assist
I read the ammo he was using is known to be seriously underloaded for 223. I don't remember the brand/load tho.
He had Aguila 223 FMJ
It gets 16 inch barrel 55gr velocities out of 20 inch barrels, lol
>garbage rod
>airsoft optic
>mystery 223
>still won the battle and got the girl
The PrepHoleube has a sense of humor
basic bitch mid-length 16" PSA is more than adequate if that's all you can afford.
Thanks to Obamna the gun industry saw massive investments into their machining because of high demand so a lot of the budget brands actually make really good shit.
I know this because the owners at poverty pony showed me what their old bcg looked like versus their new ones and the difference is staggering.
Also, Anderson manufacturing makes parts for a ton of the high dollar brands. The whole industry is like this.
The premium PSA rifles that have forged uppers with FN machine gun barrels are fantastic.
If you spend more than $500 on an ar in this day and age you are a retart
I've had a $500 16" Stag ECO with a poverty pony barrel that has shot thousands of rounds and hundreds of 3GN matches flawlessly.
But my all means, dump 000's of $'s into your AR, It's no worse a waste than paying thots on OnlySimps.
>hog hoard
Herb self reply, confirmed for retarded
*hog horde
>I have to do this because all of my shit was stolen; I have like 6K in rifles and 20K in gucci ammo that I will be arrested for attempting to go near
Story time.
OPSEC concerns for now prohibit that. I have done nothing wrong and hopefully SWIM (really though) is going to rape-him-in-the-ass prison for what they're doing to me and all of my shit.
Aero precision is the best inexpensive brand.
