>Is it a meme round
Yes >or dose it serve any real purpose besides killing bears and mountain lions
It was literally designed for putting down rioting gigabros on PCP. The whole "bear defense" meme is just a euphemism for boon-blasting like the "zombie apocalypse" meme was ten years ago. The FBI didn't requisition 10mm for bear hunting.
It is, and the only reasons 10mm wasn't adopted en masse by law enforcement were Affirmative Action female special agents and the production issues of the Bren Ten. 10mm was known to crack frames of 1911s and other steel handguns at the time. It's much more feasible now. 9mm is just a cheap "good enough" compromise cartridge that's perfect for the lowest common denominator who shoot once every couple of months and want something small to carry in their skinny jeans. 9mm has its place, but it's been proven woefully inadequate in many dire situations when the user can't fall back on the "shot placement" cope. Really if you're going to carry a fullsize or compact for self-defense, then there's not a good reason to carry 9mm over 10mm with so many options out there now.
>t. coping 9mmtard
9mm was literally designed as an upgrade to the toggle-lock Luger over 100 years ago. It was meant as a supplementary personal defense cartridge that was lightweight for soldiers to carry when they were already loaded with a rifle and other gear. It's meant as an emergency backup for infantry who have bigger guns. Relying solely on 9mm in today's urban jungle is foolish if you can realistically carry something bigger.
Webm related is actually 45 ACP, but that just drives the point home even further. Both are inadequate for putting down today's breed of criminal unless you magdump. I'm not saying that 10mm will instakill with one shot, but you are losing maybe two rounds of capacity in a fullsize handgun going from 9mm to 10mm, i.e. Glock 17 to Glock 20. I think the compromise is worth it. It's absurd to think that handgun cartridge design peaked in 1901.
>Both are inadequate for putting down today's breed of criminal
I thought after the Florida FBI shooting the FBI went back to the drawing board and figured out they needed a 200 grain bullet going 1,000 fps in a semi auto for fast reloads as being necessary for today's criminals, and that was the basis for Cooper developing the 10mm. The more powerful 10mm cartridge was apparently too much for the effeminate FBI agents so they decided to weaken the 10mm down which became the 40SW. So, the "experts" already determined the minimum performance for a handgun. If you can use the full power 10mm then its a good choice, but if you cant because of hand size or weakness or both, then its best to go for what you can use well rather than not use a 10mm effectively.

The atmosphere around self-defense shootings is much different today than it was even just 10 years ago during the whole Trayvon Martin incident.

>If 10mm is so good why have no LEO/military agency adopted it? Don’t even say diversity hires, there’s plenty of agencies in the world without women.
Manlet third-worlders can't afford it or handle it. It requires proficiency which most LEOs and regular gun owners don't have. The whole point of 10mm was to simulate the power of 41 magnum in an autoloader. Most LEOs who weren't skilled pistol shooters couldn't handle 41 or 357 magnum back when they were popular either.
Nothing would have changed in that webm if the cop had a 10mm. I hate you goddamn shills, so much there’s a reason, that’s not diversity quotas, why no one’s using your shitty meme round. You fags are more annoying than the revolver shills.

lol so even though 10mm is used by Alaskan guides to stop charging 600lb grizzly bears, it's somehow not any more effective against 200lb humans than 9mm. Fascinating.
That’s because what 10mm excels in is penetration. I know you’re probably a noguns who’s never even hunted an animal, but there’s a difference between a round designed for stopping dangerous game and stopping a human. A proper loading is going to blow through a human torso while making a typical handgun wound cavity without dumping most of its energy. Definitely fatal but it’s not going to magically make the perp drop like all of you shills seem to believe, it will most likely perform about the same as 9mm.

In a 9/10mm a high-quality expanding bullet takes you from poking a ~0.40" hole in something to poking a ~0.60" hole in something. Not trivial but still outclassed in wounding characteristics by basically every bottlenecked cartridge in existence.
Faster velocities with a given hollowpoint penetrate less - once you are already up to the expansion threshold, going faster only means faster expansion, and more of an energy dump in the first few inches of terminal ballistics. Whether or not that bigger energy dump means anything is something for the trannies to debate. For my part, I like the extra wiggle room that higher velocities give. If it probably expands at 1100 fps, it'll definitely expand at 1400 fps, and at greater distances.
>The whole point of 10mm was to simulate the power of 41 magnum in an autoloader

9mm was designed so the dumbest retards in the army can shoot 50 rounds per year with it and pass their marksmanship qualifications every 6 months.
This tbh
A big reason why 45 acp is so popular is that it's easy to shoot (read: weak)
Modernizing it by filling the spacious case with powder instead of thin air results in a cartridge with profound recoil. It also beats the shit out of guns.

I would like to have a 10mm- even as a PCC. I just think they're cool. In practice the only time I ever even talk about it is to out-retard fudds who insist on .45ACP over 9mm, so basically a watered down version of this
Good for innawoods. Pretty similar ballistics to .357 mag out of a modern autoloader. 9mm fanboys cope eternal about their killing-cardboard-at-7-meters round. They are mindbroken and cannot think about any firearm application outside of their flat range Call of Duty LARP drill bullshit.
Most of the 10mm ammo made by the big manufactures is weak, far less than the original design/purpose, but still more than a 40SW. There are a variety of guns that shoot it, a good option is the Glock 20, 20SF, Glock 40, and there are several others. Like any cartridge that is more powerful than something like a 9mm you need more experience/practice shooting it due to recoil management. Instead of buying a "powerful" cartridge just because a person should pick the right cartridge for the situation. IF you want to shoot full power 10mm faster and more accurately it helps to have a heavier all steel gun in the 5" 6" barrel length. If want a great smooth shooting 10mm you can literally make your own high capacity 1911 style by buying a 2011-1911 frame with the high cap modular grip, six inch barrel and slide and the type of barrel you want. You need to know a little more about how the 1911s work, parts, gun smithing/fitting/timing but there are plenty of resources out there. If you never made a gun before I can suggest buying a kit from Fusion Firearms from Florida. You can buy the gun kit or the 80% kit if you want to cut the rails and drill the remaining holes yourself. You can even get the 7" long slide verion, a 6" version, or the standard government version. The owner, I forget his name, has lots of vids on YT explaining how to do it. Due to high demand it takes a while to get the kits, or other parts, or to buy kit and have the barrel seat done the way you want if you can't do that yourself. If you have a nice 6" long slide 2011/1911 style the full power 10mm is easy to shoot. But if you need a small concealable pistol then a compact 10mm with full power is a bit of effort for recoil management and takes more practice. If you ever wonder if more powerful cartridges are needed for personal defense, take a look at the size of some of the suspects that commit crime, some are large h heavy dudes and when highly motivated can be a threat.
Buffalo bore ammo for it and 357 are identical from full size handguns. It's also just about like 45 super. So it's really cool. 357 will become more powerful out of a carbine though.

All anecdotal and not scientific. So 10mm is a bit more effective shot for shot than a similarly expanding in size 9mm. A wider expanding 9mm can get close to the same area a 10mm is in.
Regardless, I carry 9 because I can hit very accurately and quickly with it. I actually like 40sw too and wouldn't be opposed to carrying it in a full size gun. 10mm areas of recoil start notice interfering with my shot placement especially at range and for, IN MY OPINION, not enough gain in power. Call me a pussy but I'm pretty confident in my caliber choice.
>torso
Not the same anon, but a surprising amount, bones stopping bullets from hitting the lungs/heart actually does start to become a significant problem with larger wildlife, and smaller calibers will struggle against skulls from bad angles. You'll still kill the bear usually, it'll just maul you before dying.
I'm just being pedantic though, you're completely correct in that shot placement for the most part is dramatically more important than caliber, especially when applied to humans.
I'm not familiar with the actual statistics but a quick google came up with one, though I'll concede none of the articles on it actually list the hit location.
https://sports.yahoo.com/dying-bear-gets-revenge-crushing-082107895.html
It was clearly a pretty lethal shot given how close the bear's body was found, but it really doesn't take long for a bear to kill someone if it has the chance.
Right so.
a couple of times ever since we even started recording it. In other words it's less common for someone to get mauled by a bear they've managed a center mass/head hit on than to be beaten, stabbed, or shot by a human they've shot in the chest, even adjusting for the frequency of those events.
The numbers are in, there's no smoking bear so to speak. The overwhelming number of cases (as in, 99%) where someone manages to hit a bear in the head or body with a pistol of any caliber result in the attack ending right then and there. We're not finding the counter examples in the woods: We have plenty of recorded shootings of bear with 9mm, and we're not finding the bears dead in the woods with three infected 9mm holes in their trunk and half a camper in their stomach to balance out the scale.
I'm sorry, but what you took for common knowledge is just mythology. Animals are not bulletproof, and guns of all kinds are phenomenally effective at ending animal attacks.
it is the 61st ranking handgun cartridge sold in the united states on average per year, which means it constitutes barely 0.08% of all ammo sales in the united states, pretty shitty and niche caliber if you ask me since it sells so poorly

How many people in the last hundred years have been mauled by a bear they hit in the head or torso with a bullet of any caliber?
>A surprising amount
Okay, how many. Lets go through some examples.
I'm not familiar with the actual statistics but a quick google came up with one, though I'll concede none of the articles on it actually list the hit location.

It's everything boomers say 45ACP is
It's millennial 45ACP
it's fun to shoot, I like its snappy recoil
don't care about anything else tbqh, terminal ballistics my ass, flat trajectory my balls, get a life nerd
9mm in a full size is the best for animal defense
9mm in a compact is the best for CC

Underwood 200 grain xtp. 10mm isn't magic, but it's the best pistol caliber.

it is the 61st ranking handgun cartridge sold in the united states on average per year, which means it constitutes barely 0.08% of all ammo sales in the united states, pretty shitty and niche caliber if you ask me since it sells so poorly
This means nothing since the average gun owner is a retard who shoots maybe one box of 9mm a month at most. 10mm was never meant for normalfags.
.41AE fan here. y'all suck.
who?
It has only one use, to be transformed and uplifted into something greater.
