What the fuck. That's deeply unsettling, why do the officers allow this? I could understand pin-up art of scantily clad classic Western comic book heroines or something, but that quasi-pedophilic asian stuff comes across as unfit for an adult soldier's age, and unpatriotic as it's of foreign origin. There should be disciplinary action and mandatory 3D woman stripper nights or something to correct this.

I'm a leftist who wants free college and rent money and I still understand that the Space Force is simply a rebranding of departments that already existed under the Air Force and doesn't actually represent new capabilities or increased spending beyond the usual extra hundred billion or so the DoD gets every year anyway.

Space force is really fucking gay. Its the chumps from Chair Force who track station keeping activities and pretend to be a critical part of launch, orbit, and recovery activities. The real deal spooky dooky space shit is all NRO baby, and there's a very real fucking reason most people don't even know they exist.

      Anonymous

NRO just operates the spy sats. USSF defends said satellites from ASAT or space-to-space attack. Different missions. Also, most of the US doesn't even realize the space force exists.

    >Navy gets cool ships, Submarines and navy seal operators

    >Space force gets to sit in a chair and watch satellite data all day. Has no cool special operators. Do they even shoot any guns after basic training?

      Anonymous

You won't be laughing when you realize the space force is meant to operate the 6th+ generation of stratospheric bombers and fighters.
Manned Air force will be obsolete in 10 years. Drones will replace them all. Pilots will all flock to the space force

        Anonymous

AF is dumping all the COMINT and SATNAV and etc on them, NORAD is going to be their henhouse, they will nominally oversee strategic space initiatives although like always DoD will get the hookers and cocaine and SF will get the paperwork
Basically anything the AF hates doing and any other random shit other branches hate doing.
they will eventually dominate the strategic landscape because as

points out we will be, not if, or maybe, but will be doing the majority of our coordinated strategic movements via space. We're already doing like 80% and that was just the easy lifts like datalink and secure comms.
This not rocket surgery, every other developed country has had a space force for quite some time and we desperately needed one, unfortunately stealing the Star Trek badge and Cheeto gave it a lot of bad press

        Anonymous

Lol, you know nothing of aircraft.
If you think you can fully rely on remote control/long range data transmission during a war you’re retarded.
On their own, drones are useful for asymmetric warfare against enemy with no (or poor) ew capabilities - as soon as there is some jamming things go to shit.
That’s why for the most part, the drones we will see will be mostly of loyal-wingman type, providing support for manned aircraft while being close to them. The more ‘independent’ uavs will remain as a tool for fighting against a lesser enemy.
Most people also overestimate what ai can do - we are very far from having a system that can make complicated decisions on their own. For the next few decades, drones will remain commanded and closely overseen by humans. Furthermore, even when such technology will eventually be there, I think it’s unlikely it will be let off its leash much because of moral concerns - I wouldn’t be surprise if in the future some conventions would limit its use.

Real spaceships will have to operate more like navy than airships though once crew sizes expand.

        Anonymous

You don’t really need/want much crew in space.
It’s very costly and complicated to provide for people in space - you want to limit that to a minimum. Any (small) crew for military spacecraft would be there to oversee all the automated stuff - it would be there mostly only to command the craft from there in case communication with the ground would be lost and it cannot be controlled remotely. Apart from that - repairs maybe, but with current state of things once there is enough demand some kind of remotely controlled (by crew) robot would probably be a better option.

Space skirmishes between the US and Russia when?

      Anonymous

      >Space skirmishes between the US and Russia when?

This has actually gotten me wondering. If there was a catastrophic nuclear exchange between the United States and Russia, what would the crew of the ISS do? Right now, there are four Americans, five Russians, plus an Italian manning the station.

Would they start fighting each other? Would there be any way for them to get home on the Space Plane/Soyuz even if Russian and American Mission Control centers were destroyed in the exchange? Or would they be left adrift in space until life support systems finally ran out, watching helplessly as the Earth is blanketed in mushroom clouds?

        Anonymous

I think they will wait a bit in hopes of someone communicating with them then if all hope is lost they or at least most of them would try to get down to the planet purely for survival because dying in space isn't very appealing

Oof. That is pretty rough. It is pretty odd how the Space Force has some incredible aspects such as the iconography or delta organisation and then just totally falls flat in other aspects, such as the uniforms, GUARDIANS™ and now that anthem.
I know that the modern military (especially the space force) is attempting to push a much more 'soft' image. But would it really be to much to ask for an anthem of a military service branch to have some snare drums, woodwinds and lyrics that actually reference conflict and war? I'm not exactly asking for 'Battotai' or 'Die Wacht am Rhein' here, just something that is actually going to inspire people.
