Unfortunately. Tennessee as a teenager, just after the financial collapse in 08 when everyone lost everything and life became kind of a hopeless mess. I'm lucky, after a few times I had a serious come-down and never wanted to experience that again, so I didn't.
I left after highschool and haven't been back since. Whole state is a shithole as far as I am concerned.
All of my highschool friends are dead, in prison with face tats, or work at a walmart and look like they're twice as old as they are. All of them.

                >I really wonder what your life must have been like to spiral into drug induced homosexualry over the recession.
Were you too young to remember it, or just wealthy enough to not be affected?
I was 15 when things went breasts up.
It was bad. My mom and dad both lost their jobs.
Nobody was hiring, or if they were, there were 200 apps for every opening, so nobody could get work, no matter how hard they tried.
My parents lost their house, Wells Fargo foreclosed on them and we were forced out.
(Hold a grudge to this day. If I'm ever wealthy I'll do my best to make sure all the c-suite from that period on suffer somehow)
Pops bought an old 26 foot uhaul box truck, we lived in that for almost two years. He built out the inside, so it was actually pretty comfortable.
Luckily we were forced out of our home just after school ended, so we had a few months to find a more permanent spot.
We parked behind a few walmarts for a while, because they're open 24/7 for restroom access and will let you stay for up to three days at a clip.
That worked for a few months, but eventually some crackheads started hacking through the skin with a hatchet while it was just me and my little brother inside with mom and dad out looking for work or trying to get unemployment or whatever, so pops eventually worked out a deal with a friend to let us park the truck on his property.
The box truck never left as far as I know, the deal was the friend would get to keep it once he had enough spare cash to put a huge security deposit on a rental (foreclosure ruins your credit - good luck getting a rental or finding a job if they run a credit check, btw).
It took a long time for us to get back to anything somewhat normal.

                >cont.
My friends and I from highschool all were pretty similarly effected to one degree or another. We'd get together and party with beer and pot like normal teens, but everyone was pretty much hyper depressed and destitute.
Eventually, hanging out and drinking turned into pounding a bottle of robitussin, or cocaine, crack, meth, heroine, etc. - whatever was available.
It's not like I decided to jump straight into meth, it was a progression because there wasn't much to do in broken, poor, rural tennessee and that was an escape, I guess.

As mentioned, I had a brutal come-down from meth and it was an eye-opener. I was probably just before my 18th birthday at that point.
I got lucky. It was so bad that it shifted my entire world-view, and I cold turky'd everything.
I haven't touched anything aside from alcohol since.
As mentioned, most of my friends didn't get that chance to escape.

The only people who lost jobs during the recession had bullshit makework jobs because of easy credit, or were the buttholes that couldn't be bothered to show up to work and were constantly riding the line on being fired for their attendance anyway. Most businesses that weren't rounding out their numbers for tax reasons reduced hours rather than layoffs.

Given how you turned out, your parents were almost certainly in the latter category.

And second, I turned 18 barely a year and a half after the crash. I turned in job applications like everyone else but I got beat out by 50 years for cashier jobs, so I enlisted because I have a spotless record because I'm not a degenerate moron and my father wasn't either. So save your fricking holier than thou pity party for the morons who think you're worth saving.

All serious stimulants do that, although the euphoria is only given by meth and good coke.

Stimulants are great, i highly recomend. Just not meth because it is hard on your body, and not cocaine as it is hard on your bank account.

kek, I have actual ADHD (no I'm not some homosexual zoomer) and take adderall daily, and minus the punching holes part that's exactly what it does for me sometimes. I guess that's why so many people take it without having any sort of sickness, just for the rush.

              >that's exactly what it does for me sometimes
Imagine that feeling, but ten times more powerful, and you feel it for a whole day before being more exhausted than you've ever been in your life, and you've pretty much got it.

Yeah, afaik they come from around the same chemical family. The withdraw that I get after not taking it for more than around 2 days can get pretty harsh too, mostly I get really depressed, tired, and not wanting to get out of bed and do anything. I can only imagine how insanely awful you must feel after coming back from meth. Thanks for sharing anon, hope you stay clean and happy.

Meth is just a super stimulant, used to be popped like caffeine pills a century ago with Pervitin. The insanity comes from the fact that you’re firing on all cylinders for days on end with pretty much zero rest.
          >and no, I never did any of that shit, I saw what that, coke, and other things do to people and avoid it all like the plague

Unfortunately. Tennessee as a teenager, just after the financial collapse in 08 when everyone lost everything and life became kind of a hopeless mess. I'm lucky, after a few times I had a serious come-down and never wanted to experience that again, so I didn't.

Not too different but I’m in Southwest PA. Between the state government (granted they all suck ass) and third world tier infrastructure I’m looking on GTFO within a few years. But a part of me says its not even worth it since the shit you see here or in Tennessee is either everywhere else or will spread everywhere else. But I’m gonna do it anyway because lord knows I can do with a change of scenery.

is it a lot different than adderall?

            Anonymous

It's more intense, but in general up is up. If you've ever felt tweaked from taking too much adderall, meth is even stronger than that, so all that weirdness is amplified too. But you can kind of get a feel for what meth would be like with adderall, yeah.

i can definitely see why people would have an issue with it then. i'll take 5mg or so sometimes for work if i need to crank out a lot of tickets in a short amount of time. i absolutely love it for a productivity boost. almost like a miracle drug.
