There is no "network preparation" to order parts in NATO, so why would your never-ordered-anything self lie and assert otherwise?

Ordering parts is simple and standard in NATO since forever. There is no special network to transport them. Most parts move by civilian freight carriers but sending something special is easy as loading it onto a truck then driving to destination.

All that's required to move vehicles is truck and/or rail transport, not some exotic "preparation". Once delivered to staging area in Poland (this is as easy as shipping civilian construction equipment) any parts not sent with the packaged could be ordered normally via the military supply system.

Is germany going to continue with this virtue signaling without realizing on why its better to just send leopards? The abrams is good, but its a logistical nightmare, especially when nearby countries are leopard users. Leopards are good because of the availability in parts and repairs from neighboring countries.

      >Leopards are good because of the availability in parts and repairs from neighboring countries.
That's not really the case with 2A4s. There are no spare parts being made for them anymore.

Not exactly true. The only major difference between new and old leo's are the turret components such as ballistic computers, sights etc, which you can get refurbished or taken care of through obsolesence management. So its a bit more of a pain and less cost-efficient, but it works in a way

            Anonymous

Between the A4 and something like the A7 there are several minor differences. The running gear, torsion bars, brakes etc have been upgraded to MLC80, all roadwheel stations have end dampeners, a new idler wheel tensioner has been added, etc. These are all things that you can retrofit to an A4 hull if you'd like, most done as simply replacing old part with new. The biggest change is the mounting of an APU in the rear right side, and taking the NBC system from the hull into the turret basket. And from the A5 they changed the drivers hatch, added the extra external armour etc

Nah, Germans have lost the ability to think about foreign policy the way other European countries or the U.S. do. They are somewhat like Indians in that sense. They think they are better than everyone else and are just biding their time, but continously choose the most retarded and uncooperative path, only to then whine when they get rightfully shit on.

Trust me, being inflicted with the curse of being German and talking to many otherwise smart people, I know what I'm talking about. Germany is shitting the bed once more, having learned nothing and the voters like it that way.

If you push too hard now, they will get pissy and start complaining, pointing out "how much Germany already gave Ukraine". Best course would be to ignore Germany as if it wasn't there. The U.S. should organize a scheme with Poland, Spain, the Nordics or whoever to get Leopards into Ukraine and not give a shit about Germany's approval. Let the German government spell ot out, that they demand to stop helping Ukraine without Germany's approval and then rub their faces in that statement until that government falls apart.

Retard, they cant send leopards to ukraine because its part of the terms of sale of the leopards in the first place that german approval needs to be sought before selling or gifting to another nation. Breaking the trade deal means huge legal reprecussions, likely including a massive EU fine and a stoppage of sale of parts. Yeah they could refuse to pay the fine, and get hit with further legal and economic sanctions. You can ignore Germany in trying to make a plan for Ukraine, but you cant ignore them in trying to send leopards. If America cares so much then it should just send 1000 M1A2s over, doesnt matter if Ukraine wants leo2s, they wont get them if Germany doesnt want them to.

                Not UK -Challenger
Only minor nations like Poland, Greece, Denmark Lithuania. And then Spain as the only major European Nation who uses them. The Dutch no longer even really have their own tanks, they share like 15 with Germany. They absolutely can sanction each and every one of these, and if they break terms of trade deals and then refuse to rectify them, the sanctions could be Europe-wide rather than just German.

Contracts get broken and fines get paid all the time. It's not the end of the world, it just needs to be worth their while. That's why I said have the U.S. organize some scheme. Germany happily pushes smaller countries around all the time. If Germany threatens to sue for breach of contract against i.e. Spain, the U.S. should say they found another reason to fine VW or block LNG shipments from Qatar outright.

Germany only speaks the language of the powerful, which is why many German top leader still lick Russian boots. Russia broke all kinds of contracts and treaties, including fundamental internation human rights treaties and stupid cunts here still talk about dialogue and diplomacy. So the signal is clear: twist Germany's arm and they can become quite amenable.

Starting a trade war within NATO, in which strictly speaking Germany is entirely legally in the right, isnt a good idea. Especially when the mutts literally have thousands of spare tanks just lying around, Ukraine doesnt actually *need* leopard 2s, theyre good tanks, but the Ukranians just want to make future co-operation between Germany and Russia harder.

Germany wouldn't risk a trade war with the U.S. and an assortment of EU countries just to get terrible PR for not helping Ukraine enough. Germany bscked itself into a corner due to retardation and deceit. It's time to finish this shitshow and squeeze the shit out if it. Make it send those tanks. There is no future cooperation with Russia unless it is completely obliterated by a coordinated Europe who all do their part of ending the war as decisively as possible in Ukraines favor.

Most of Europe is unenthusiastic about Ukraine, people have thoughts and prayers and all that but nobody is interested in going to war and nobody wants to make sacrifices on their account. PR is useful for a ruling party but not neccessary. If the US initiated a trade war with Germany then the entire EU would be dragged in too, as there are no internal customs barriers or tarrifs, and this would be seen as US bullying and dictating to the EU, which would inherently piss off the French and Italians too. A US initiated trade war would have the sole effect of splitting NATO and probably to the forcible closure of the few remaining US bases in Europe, as well as whatever further kick to exports that the US needs to fall into a recession. Only probably the UK and Poland would even consider backing the US in this.

That's my point though, Germany wouldn't risk a trade war now due to all the complications it would bring just to NOT send some tanks to Ukraine.
Germany is down. Keep kicking it, to force it to do the right thing. It has no bargaining chips and no goodwill. Even France is fed up with Germany at this point.

Germany absolutely would risk a trade war because all the German government ever does is double down on whatever stupid idea or policy it has decided on, in fact thats all every German or French government ever has ever done. They wont back down even if theres no loss for them in doing so. If it gets kicked then France will instinctually side with it, just to show that it cant be ignored by the kicker too. In times past it'd have sided with the kicker, but its reached the apex of its territorial expansion now and is now in an alliance with Germany. Between Germany and France, the rest of the EU follows, especially now that the UK is gone and Italy is probably about to enter its first corruption scandal of the year. I have truthfully no idea what Spain would do, but it will likely follow France's example.

They were veeeeeeeery careful to make sure everybody in Poland forgets that fact, given how anti-German the Polish society is currently and they are teying to reimagine themselves, with questionable results. Trying to suck up to Germany currently, where 90% of Poles are convinced that one country they absolutely cannot rely on in dire need is Germany is a surefire way to lose an election.

the thing is, sending Abrams to Ukraine is flat out fucking stupid because it has a god damn maintenance hungry jet engine inside of it, that nobody in Ukraine has a clue how to maintain, and the country that makes the part is an ocean away.

it's not any more fuel-hungry than engine in t-84, and maintenance part resolved by training some maintenance guys

I'm a retired jet mech (avionics on Bronco and Phantom, engine troop and crew chief on F-16 A/B/C/D/CJ) and much more, and you are a moron.

Turbines are really quite simple and easy to learn to work on which if you had any experience you would know. Power packs are replaced in the field, not rebuilt though any non-shit mechanic could use one tank as an expedient test cell which is no different than swapping jet engine external parts on the flightline then stuffing the engine back in to ops-check.

Why do non-technical idiots spout off about machinery? You idiot gorilla kmorons (not just vatniks) should be asking not telling.

It's not about logistics, Abrams could be perfectly fixed and maintained in Poland if you don't want to do it in Ukraine. This is some kind of political autistic "nah you first" between US and Germany. (Because UK already sent MBTs so they could be blamed if monke goes full retard because of muh escalation).

Apparently they're announcing another multi-billion dollar package of kit on Friday that's going to include another 50 Bradleys + 100 Strykers and a bunch of other shit: I assume more arty (maybe more Paladins?) and hundreds of thousands of shells. It would be great if the US sent Abrams but they're sending so much important shit Scholz looks like a pathetic child in comparison.

krauts know that if leo 2s get sent, then countries will start dumping their leos into Ukraine because they realize they will never get newer leos some time this century.
Then Europe buys Korean/American mix just like Poland and germany will get muscled out in their own continent.
And it's all their fault. krauts have been gutting their own MIC while resting on the cope that "all these countries have the old leos so they'll obviously buy the new leos".
Just look at Norway. The K2 was supposed to be a token gesture and now they're in the lead by most accounts.

Technically, there is an Abrams maintenance base being built in Poland, because Poles would need it for their tanks, but the snag is - it will be months if not years before it's operational and Ukrainians need tanks NOW.

Tanks benefit from but do not require complex maintenance facilities. Portable shelters and deployable maintenance packages exist for good reasons.

As aircraft can be completely repaired and maintained by deployed equipment so can vehicles. Dedicated facilities are much more comfortable and it's faster working out of the weather though.

Hasnt stopped them from selling to Turkey where they get destroyed in embarrasing ways, nor has that stopped US from selling M1A2 to the Saudis, where they also get destroyed in embarrasing ways.
