Funniest thing is that the "Kharkiv collapse" even with the lack of border fortifications has basically frozen. The massive Avdiivka breakthrough has frozen. Le ebin Chasiv Yar breakthrough and victory by 9th May didn't even happen. Yet ziggers took a bunch of border villages and Ukraine has to actually start a mobilization now, great victory for the 2nd army of the world LMOA

        >border fortification meme
This is moronic in of itself. Border fortifications don't work unless you plan on consistently sending large amounts of assets to the region to maintain the defenses there. Because its at the same place where russians can maximize their fire power.

          >border fortification meme
What meme? The fortifications are there, they exist, they are being supplied.
Just because someone in the army complained that its not being supplied enough doesn't mean the deffences wont work.
Avdiivka was supplied with a single road, and then off road. Eventually Russia captured it but it had to at a massive cost. Even badly supplied fortifications can last long, very fricking long.

The recon guy was complaining about the lack of mines, but he did complain about fortifications momentarily, but the general complaints is about mines, which is moot if the russians are spearheading and there is a lack of assets to defend the border area.

Kinda yeah, but if the likes of Deepstate point it out as a problem, it should be taken at least somewhat seriously. While fortifying a border is moronic, a town of 17k (pre-war) should still have some pre-prepared fortifications.

That town is like 3km from the border. The defenses are ~20km from the border.

No, the Russians are not planning to collapse the frontline. This is the only territory they want this year before they wait for another Ukrainian counteroffensive in the next year.

The evne more moronic thing is that for reaching the ziggers' stated goal of Kharkiv, they actually took the dumbest places to cross the border.

Vovchansk is seperated from Kharkiv by a major river crossing, and their western incursion is in an area where they don't even have a solid road connection back to Russia, so no way to effectively supply a deeper thrust towards Kharkiv. And they would be forced into headbutting into urban and forested terrain while the Ukrainians hold high ground on both flanks of their advance if they tried pushing on that front, too. It's such a blatant distraction attempt, it's almost insulting.

We should've given them 10 F-35 and ground Tomahawk launchers with 1000 rockets/month a long time ago. Yeah and that prohibition to retaliate to the assets on the russian territories is a fricking israeli mindfrick that I still can't comprehend.

anyway, on topic, 2022 style breakthrough and advance does not seem likely given previous performance from both sides. russia also doesn't look to be aiming for a breakthrough in kharkiv also; the aim seems more to be to get the city in tube range and create a buffer zone on the ukr side of the border

This deffinition might be still relevant a few hundred years after the mongols invaded europe, but by now its outdated as there has been so much mixing between different european cultures and nationalities in Russia that it is not applicable.

Blinken went over to have a face-to-face with everyone in Kiev, announced 2b in air defense.
Shitty we had a delay that seems to have been very painful for Ukraine but blame the GOP for having the clowns with flame throwers run the circus.
Beyond that, war is gonna go on for at least 4 more years, probably more, since the new gameplan seems to be to hold a defense, poke around, and pour money into the drone/missile economy till one side breaks down (and that will be Russia because Ukraine has US/NATO intel and funds).

I'm less hopeful than you that the west is going to hold for 4 years without some clown rocking the boat because he would get +5% in the polls.
