"We fought insurgents who injected AIDS and hepatitis C into their blood steam in an attempt to kill us if their bullets couldn’t, and saw death and violence on epic scales. We developed crude weapons out of what we had, such as water bottles refilled with gasoline, gelled, and tied by a flex cuff to a flash bang. When the pin was pulled and the bottle released, it made for a nasty surprise to those occupying bunkered rooms and fighting positions. As simple as this device was, it saved countless American lives."

    >who injected AIDs
AIDs is basically an advanced form of HIV. The only way to get it is through mucus membranes and they don't last long on the surface either. If you ever to be infected, PREP shots exist to prevent the virus from setting foothold.

Only works through mucus membranes or needles. Less likely to catch it if its on the skin just like HIV. Insurgents were moronic

I am pretty sure it's the origin of the "South American special forces who have to raise a dog and then kill it" that was all the rage in 80s-90s literature and inspired the fatman who wrote Game of Thrones. Was south america the origin of the dog thing? I thought it was supposed to be Spetnaz? An early source for most of the myths about GRU spetnaz training (beyond sodomy) comes directly from Jim Shortt who was a fake SAS veteran/stolen valor who lied his way into performing some kind of training for the GRU in the early 90s then wrote a Paladin Press book about Spetnaz training.

After an entire career of lying about being in the SAS (despite never even being in the army) and even giving himself a fake Irish baronial title his latest arc is hanging out in Ukraine and claiming to give some kind of unspecified "assistance" to the UA military.

                >Darwin’s theories (i.e. natural selection and the like) are literally the bedrock of evolutionary theory

They are certainly the origins of modern evolutionary understanding. They are not the end-all. The current school of thought that is most commonly accepted is sometimes called neo-Darwinian thought, but in-field called modern evolutionary synthesis theory, which takes influences from Darwinism. Darwinism =/= modern evolutionary synthesis theory. "Darwinism" is a very specific understanding and theory of evolution which is outdated. "Darwinism" does not account for a handful of major aspects of evolution, most notably mutation, gene flow, and genetic drift. The study of evolution is a mixture of several fields and theories.

Darwin certainly had his hand, but again, Darwinism is outdated. That's like saying 55BC Christianity is all Christianity, because every branch of it today is an offshoot in some capacity. If you don't understand what I am telling you, where exactly are you getting lost?

I will add, Darwinism included each and every hypothesis and theory Darwin included in his framework, even things that were disproven such as pangenisis. Ergo, no, Darwinism, the specific evolutionary framework, is not the prevailing theory anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. You can be a homosexual and try calling modern evolutionary synthesis theory Darwinism. I understand your mistake here, and I won't call you a homosexual Black person for it because it seems to be a genuine misunderstanding and not just you being a dumb homosexual like the other moron.

As much as people want to attribute it to this guy being stupid, if he got his degree here, there is no affirmative action for West Asians. There's lots of research out there on how smart people can have opaque thinking processes to normal people, which pushes them to political radicalization (basically the bell curve meme; smart and very dumb people tend to have extreme politics). Being smart also doesn't make you impervious to religious ideas, while being raised in a thoroughly religious culture. All that changes when someone gets smart is that their thinking becomes more and mkre elaborate, until it's abstruse to normal people. That's why it won't seem "common sense". Much easier to call someone "moronic" than admit they're smarter than you but disagree or have some convoluted reasoning beyond your understanding.

I'm almost certain he got his degree in Iraq, but you're on the money. The Middle East is intellectual miasma. Their way of life is a psychological mutagen, helped by dozens of actual toxins that exist there in decent concentrations (besides the soot, non-potable drinking water, and industrial waste, Iraq has been using leaded fuel since its introduction and it remains the predominant fuel for most automotive use). The cognitive dissonance that even the smartest Middle Easterners exhibit is surreal and pretty much impossible to understand for an outsider.

To get a masters in biology you don't have to really follow a dogma, just demonstrate that you know the technical stuff, can manage yourself in a lab and know how to write and analyze data.

A PCR cycler doesn't care whether you believe the Earth is 10.000 years old, it cares if you followed correct procedure and used the adequate primers to get the results you need

Yeah, "macroevolution" doesn't exist because that's just a moronic made up chriscuck term.
There's only plain evolution, and it's a solid, proven, observed, and basic theory on science.
How organic chemicals become self-replicating molecules and living organisms it's still not understood due to the extreme environmental differences and time scale needed to replicate it, but it's a work in progress.

          You are a turbo moron

Explain modern evolutionary synthesis theory if you’re so smart
If it’s just natural selection + “mutation, gene flow, and genetic drift” then it’s hardly very different from Darwin’s original framework

          >Darwinism included each and every hypothesis and theory Darwin included
That’s not what people mean by Darwinism, it refers to natural selection

          >If it’s just natural selection + “mutation, gene flow, and genetic drift”
It isn't. And lol, yeah anon, let me just casually explain Malthusian competition, natural selection, variation, genetic variation, mutation and the intersection thereof with genetic varaiation, Mendelian inheritance and the intersection thereof with the aforementioned, ontogenetics and parallel phylogenies (without Googling, what does this mean anon?) where this deviates from actual Darwinism (primarily in Darwin's complete lack of understanding of genetics) (Darwinism is also a creationist cuck term used to disparage actual science, but who cares) and how that all comes together for modern synthesis of evolution for you in a PrepHole comment, and then play back and forth games until the thread dies because you don't like abiogenesis.
          >it’s hardly very different from Darwin’s original framework
So it is or it isn't Darwin's original framework? (What is pangenisis? Why do we not believe in this anymore? Was pangenisis part of his framework or not?)

I remember this one case where some model told the story of how the germans froze her grandma ( or other relative I've forgotten the details) to death in a deportation camp in belgium to the point that she was just a popsicle.
Only for the the only deportation center in belgium to put out an official press release that the germans wheren't making human popsicles at their site and they haven't any record of the person in question even having passed trough their site.
It isn't about if it is believable at all but about how it makes the people that do believe it feel about themselves.
A lot of israelites that survived where coping with a lot of survivors guilt because they where simply sent to a work camp, hid, escaped ect and then they started dreaming up all sorts of stories about how they survived x. With x usually being the most bizarre and horrifying things that made it to the news papers.

I'd bet that a lot of the israelites making up dumb stories genuinely believed them. Human memories are notoriously fallible, and anyone who's being rounded up by the nazis is going to be under a lot of stress.

              Anonymous

A lot of those memories are also collages of things they and other experienced and then turned up to 11. Did you hear about some guy getting sodomized during a cavity search? Bam you had a 40 cm pole shoved up your ass for shits and giggles.
Some one died from hyperthermia being transported in a cattle car during the middle of winter? Bam grandma was turned into a human popsicle for the lols of it.

Even if they don't fully believe their own stories, their family certainly will.
I had a girl in my class at law school break down in tears when my and the professor guiding our little fake Nuremberg trials telling her that her grandparents weren't some people oppressed by the germans. But that the story she told of what they went trough perfectly matches the experiences of germans fleeing from the Baltics during the winter off 44-45 and their later imprisonment by the soviet.
We where in what I understand to be now somewhat crude and cruel fashion not just breaking down her identity but telling her that she and her family where in fact the baddies.
a lot more comforting to be able to cloak yourself in being a victim.

Arabs/Jihadis do all sorts of silly things that are clever but not really smart.
Case in point: Around...I think it was about 2005 or '06, there was a small number of chemical-IED attacks. What is a chemical IED attack, you ask? Well, the insurgents (this was Iraq) were taking regular IEDs, and since they sort-of knew chlorine was used as poison gas back in WW1, they were strapping chlorine containers to the bombs for an added secondary effect.

But since their stock of chlorine was coming from local warhouses, they were basically using somebody's water-purifier supplies or a pool warehouse to douse the side of a road.
The bombs worked, and some of the local civvies in the are got red-eye & were coughing from the splat of chlorine thrown off by the bombs.

But if these guys still believe this 17 years later then they might actually be moronic.

sounds about as true as guys who said they dipped their bullets in bacon grease during late 00s. god post 9/11 bloodlust america was cringe

This one always seemed particularly moronic to me even as a kid. Did they just fry up a shit ton of bacon in the field to save the grease in a bucket or something? And then they meticulously slathered the grease on 30 to 60 bullets which they then loaded into magazines? Wouldn’t that increase the risk of jamming/malfunction? How would an insurgent know that the bullet that just ripped through his shoulder was previously covered in bacon grease? Would the grease even stay on the bullet as it travels through the air? Also it’s only a sin to knowingly consume pork in Islam, just touching bacon grease isn’t forbidden.

          >But if these guys still believe this 17 years later then they might actually be moronic.
Known bug in the human psyche. No one starts spontaneously questioning their beliefs. If you believed some dumb shit when you were 18, you're going to keep believing until something forces you to reevaluate it. If you don't have anyone tell you that you're a moron, you might well carry the dumb to the grave.

Human memory is way spongier than anyone wants to believe and bullshit can seed then severely frick up your memories (especially traumatic events).

That's why every Vietnam veteran claims to have been spat on as they got off the plane despite that being almost impossibly unlikely due to how they were sent home. They were demobed and sent home alone on commercial flights as soon as their time ran out rather being sent home as units so unless roving bands of hippies spent every day waiting at international airports for random lone soldiers to spit on it couldn't possibly have happened to even 10% of vietnam vets. They saw that phrase become pop culture from Rambo and their brains merged it with their real experiences so that they think it really happened to them and they have real (seeming) memories of it.

If you look at recollections from vietnam vets much closer to the time you learn the more crushing truth that they were yanked out of vietnam with no time to decompress and when they landed on american soil there was no one there who even noticed they existed. They had no one waiting to greet them not even family due to the rapid timeframe. There were even cases of Vietnam vets going home to their parents home only to find they'd moved house without telling them or leaving a forwarding address.

Picrel actually does a really good job at describing the experience of returning home from Vietnam because it was written by a USMC infantry lieutenant. He wrote it in the 70’s so the war was still pretty fresh in his mind and you can tell in his writing. One of the characters was a SSGT who got flown home in his dress blues. He basically landed in LA and then had to hitchhike to his parent’s place an hour and a half outside the city. He got heckled by some teenagers at a drive through and a random boomer congratulated him and tried to talk to him about how the government SHOULD be fighting the war, but he couldn’t relate to anybody and just wanted to get home. I would highly recommend Fields of Fire.

      >they dipped their bullets in bacon grease during late 00s
I have unironically witnessed grunts doing this. I explained that it wouldn't matter either for a lot of reasons, but who cares, I was just another grunt.

This actually makes sense. The rumor mill always goes into overdrive during deployments and there’s no shortage of dumb and naive 18-22 year olds who will believe literally anything that an NCO tells them. But if these guys still believe this 17 years later then they might actually be moronic.

The bacon grease bullshit is literally as simple as "Grab the cold grease from the chowhall on the nearest mega-FOB when you rotate through". Grunts aren't literally in the field 24/7, even during actual war.
"Would it actually work?" is a different question than "Did some morons try it?".

FWIW, it was not exactly a common occurrence. Even if every single Battalion had at least one guy dipping cartridges in bacon, that's less than 1/1000 deployed grunts doing that.

Why are Iraq war vets so moronic?

The overwhelming majority are normal people who went back to their lives after they got out. Selection bias, you hear from the morons who make it their personality, you don't hear about the guys who did a couple deployments and then went on with their lives.

IMO the worst batch of still living vets are peacetime cold war vets, those frickers lie about everything. Very rarely will you meet one who just says "Yeah man I was in a light infantry brigade, trained a lot, and then got out". They all LARP like they were interrogating communists in Germany or something.

The worst part is that I would have a lot more respect for them if they just said "Yeah man, we were worried about WW3, thankfully it didn't happen, Germany was cool and fricking German girls was awesome. The military sucked and the field sucked", because even though I wasn't a peacetime grunt, I can relate to the field sucking ass, and local women being fun to cum on.

But lol, no, they were all COLD WARRIORS!

Burning enemy combatants alive will probably still be funny 1000 years from now. I wonder if being on fire teaches them any new words besides 'dirka allah?'

Isn't it pretty difficult to actually get aids? Like, from what I recall, if you're a guy fricking a chick with aids, you wont get it unless you have open wounds on your dick.

Pretty much. Also you don’t just get AIDS right off the bat. You get HIV which eventually turns into AIDS after like a decade.

I can believe it. The denials of this stuff usually come from people who weren't there reacting to narratives from other people who weren't there.
I've had zoomers tell me ISIS didn't use captagon or plates when I personally pulled both off the bodies.

No, I fought Arabs and Afgans, actually. I also worked with a guy who was in Fallujah in 2004 for 5 years after I got out and he never once, a single time, claimed something as completely fricking moronic as "the insurgents would inject themselves with AIDS and hep c to try and infect us when they died"
            >I don't know if it's true
            Then you're fricking moronic, anon.

Yeah I guess I could see the dumbest possible 18 year old that could get an asvab waiver for the Marine Corps getting BBP training and somehow morphing "don't touch anybody's blood without PPE, you don't want to get Hep C or HIV" into the pants-on-head moronic statement in OP, but to me it does read more like this guy feeding horseshit to people who he knows will credulously hang on every word. It IS a Soldier of Fortune article, after all.

, I was in Iraq and Afghanistan and spent years swapping stories with a guy who actually fought in Fallujah in 2004 who never said a single fricking word about fighters deliberately infecting themselves with HIV and Hep C.

Anyone who unironically believes that "We fought insurgents who injected AIDS and hepatitis C into their blood steam in an attempt to kill us if their bullets couldn’t" is a stone-cold fricking moron who is dumber than the dumbest guys I served with, and I served with some remarkably moronic guys.
