Watching this footage of the 30th Brigade crushing Russian forces, but this retard has some PrepHole related questions.
>:20
What is the rocket with cable attached supposed to do?
>:32
Why didn't the one Ukrainian solider in the rear with the group to the right move up when they were all firing? I'd be worried about friendly fire there.
>:35
Did this take part in the same battle? Why would this specific area looks totally desolate compared to the areas show before and after?
>:38
What are the casings all around the trench?
>:49
Did the drone drop a smoke grenade into the trench to drive the Russians out of it?
>:58
Why were these Russians still unarmed when it was clear an attack was happening?
>1:08
Why was the one Russian standing up and out of cover? Or is the topography being deceptive?
>1:13
Was the 2nd Russian killed just cowering and only pulled up his gun when he saw the Ukrainian?
And what gun does the surviving Russian have? It looks like it has a bipod
>1:17
Was this the same Russian from the previous scene? The terrian looks different
That was hohol squad getting decimated by Russian forces. You put Russian flags on hohol troops and hohol flag on Russian troops as pro-NATO propaganda
>20 seconds
That's an MCLIC. Basically a C4 silly string that you shoot over a minefield and detonate to clear the mines.
Good morning, saar, are you redeeming the needful today?
Except you can clearly see blue tape on the Ukrainian solider while the gear used by Russians in the OP are similar to the ones who were gunned down in :58
Why would lie?
Thanks for the answer.
Is there a reason it was deployed from the rear? Or does the MCLIC just have an extremely long range where it would reach the treeline from where it fired?
Also, one more question.
>:23
What was the round/rocket that was fired behind the troop carriers?
I got the acronym wrong, it's MICLIC. It can clear a lane through mines 6-8 meters wide and 100-110 meters long, finding the exact number is a real pain in the ass. No idea why they launched it what looks like 2-300 meters from the treeline. Hopefully another anon can elucidate us.
>23 seconds
Looks like some sort of artillery impact, tbh. Considering they're killing ziggers, probably a 152?
MICLIC or rather the russian Meteorit have been used offensively a few times in Ukraine. I remember one being used in Mariupol by the russians iirc.
I questioned why the video didn't show the charge going off, but it didn't seem to be used solely to clear mines.
I would think maybe half of the line charge went into the tree line. Two for one special, clear mines and wreck the defenders. It might explain why some of the russians didn't defend themselves well.
It's hard to fight with a concussion.
man i would not want to be driving a vehicle through those fields, god damn, so much growth. i know it will die in winter but this shit is going to be a nightmare for the foreseeable future, going to take decades to clear all the land mines that have been put down.

Finally a good thread actually discussing weapons and tactics.
Still another gay Ukraine thread. Slava rossiyi.
Total Zigger Death.
Muscovia Delenda Est.
I didn't realize the Russians had an analogous system but I suppose it makes sense in retrospect. What's the effective range of this Meteorit?
go back to ifunny, gay, this is a TZD neighborhood.

>Did the drone drop a smoke grenade into the trench to drive the Russians out of it?
No. They are using two waves of drones. There are spotting drones marking the Russians with smoke and the operator communicating with the ground troops, and then the regular grenade dropping drones. Doing it correctly like in this video is basically like a wallhack. You know where your enemy is and you don't need to waste grenades in every corner.
Except it really looks like the grenade dropped on the Russian in the baseball cap at :46 was a smoke grenade (It wasn't mortar shell or pineapple shaped like the others), there's no explosion shown (It was cut to be fair), The branch cover was not moved at all and the Russian just walks away from the smoke/dust. So I'm really doubting it was a shrapnel grenade.
If it was a smoke grenade to mark where he was hiding, wouldn't it be counter intuitive since he'd just relocate?
>what is the ancient tactic called 'smoking out'
Smoke makes men choke so they have to move out of cover and into a place they can easily be attacked, anon.
That's exactly what I first asked.
>Did the drone drop a smoke grenade into the trench to drive the Russians out of it?
Since at :49 you can see the Russian moving away from the smoke grenade.
It was tube shaped, probably thermobaric, built for a longer overpressure wave
God willing it was a WP "smoke shell"
Mmmm crispy Ziggers
Were they firing at the 2nd guy before he even turned the corner?
>What is the rocket with cable attached supposed to do?
mine clearing charge like the other anons said, whether they're clearing mines or suppressing the treeline is unclear
>Why didn't the one Ukrainian solider in the rear with the group to the right move up when they were all firing? I'd be worried about friendly fire there.
Which one, the one in the center of the shot? Likely has a role there, might be an officer, maybe they're a drone operator etc. They're not firing anyways.
>Did this take part in the same battle? Why would this specific area looks totally desolate compared to the areas show before and after?
May have been a position on a flank, etc.
>What are the casings all around the trench?
I want to say ATGM cases of some kind but honestly they don't look like it to me.
>Did the drone drop a smoke grenade into the trench to drive the Russians out of it?
No, that's a HE-FRAG https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/grenades/m50-hand-grenade-finnish
>Why were these Russians still unarmed when it was clear an attack was happening?
We've seen it a couple of times. Might've been manning a few served weapon or something else.
>Why was the one Russian standing up and out of cover? Or is the topography being deceptive?
He looks shell shocked.
>Was the 2nd Russian killed just cowering and only pulled up his gun when he saw the Ukrainian?
Sure looks like it.
>And what gun does the surviving Russian have? It looks like it has a bipod
Too blurry for me to ID, I'm sure someone better than me can ID it. Looks belt fed, maybe PKM?
>Was this the same Russian from the previous scene? The terrian looks different
I can't tell.
Thanks for the answers, some quick follow ups.
>The one in the center of the shot? Likely has a role there, might be an officer, maybe they're a drone operator etc. They're not firing anyways.
The guy I circled who was firing right behind two other Ukrainian soldiers is the one I had questions about.
>No, that's a HE-FRAG
https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/grenades/m50-hand-grenade-finnish
I see. Is there a reason the detonation didn't disturb the top cover then? I would have thought some of the shrapnel would have moved at least the branches around.
Though I'm going to guess the follow up shot of the body at :51 was the guy who got the Finnish grenade dropped on him.
Or were they trying to do a volley fire-ish formation where one rank was kneeling and the other was standing, but someone who was supposed to kneel was still trying to get into position?
I'm just throwing stuff at the wall at this point so tell me if this is retarded.
>I see. Is there a reason the detonation didn't disturb the top cover then? I would have thought some of the shrapnel would have moved at least the branches around.
The footage isn't continuous, you're watching the aftermath
>The guy I circled who was firing right behind two other Ukrainian soldiers is the one I had questions about.
Fuck if I know, I agree he was close to flagging his buddies. Guy was probably out of position, maybe got tunnel vision or something. Assaults are never going to be perfect and it shouldn't be forgotten that a lot of these guys are learning by experience rather than by drilling, might've built up some bad habits over time.
We see the dropping of the grenade, the actual detonation is cut, and then the immediate aftermath.
I originally thought the blue circle in the before picture was cover that got disturbed by the grenade, but they're actually branches of a tree that lined up with the drone's footage before it started moving. And nothing else looks disturbed. So is the Finnish grenade more high explosive and less shrapnel?
Heck, looking at the Russian who moves out, at :50 it looks like he has a helmet and not a baseball cap.
Maybe I'm seeing things wrong. like I did with the grenade itself.
The grenade is HE-FRAG as far as I know, it used to be based on a 50 mm Soviet mortar round but I think these ones aren't anymore, they're still supposed to be HE-FRAG. There's not a lot of info about them out there.
Fair enough, thanks again for shedding light on what grenade it was.
